Would love to go back and stay longer. The hostess is a phenomenal woman. What she accomplishes on the farm and the knowledge she conveys is very interesting. Eradication of black wattles, relocation of native trees, grass etc. Plant knowledge, Mahem conservation. Mountains 3 sides. The most beautiful scenes. Room and service more than excellent. In the biting cold, the gas heater and the electric blankets helped to create a cozy atmosphere. What a beautiful bathroom! However, the R396 road from Maclear to Woodcliffe leaves much to be desired.
We had a wonderful stay at Woodcliffe. We stayed 2 nights, but could easily have stayed a week. Good beds and bedding and warm electric blankets made for a comfortable nights sleep. The Jetmaster fireplace worked wonderfully. Lovely place to sit outside and braai and the views were just breathtaking. We hope to be back soon!
Our host was helpful and made sure we were comfortable. The location is simply amazing with majestic views and great walks. This just may be the most beautiful farm I have ever seen!
Woodcliffe cottage is right in the mountains and has numerous activities on hand. Cottage is warm and friendly - a wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing and enjoying your surroundings. The road from Maclear can be a bit of a challenge, but you are warned about this beforehand.
This cottage, I suspect, is underrated by many a traveller. It is the perfect overnight stop to experience Naudesnek Pass. The serious 4x4 route is a must, as well as one or all of the walking routes if time permits. Plenty of wood, friendly hosts and the clean air and cold make it an item for your bucket list. I definitely recommend the place. You may be in for a pleasant surprise.
Friendly reception. There is no cell phone signal on farm, so it's difficult, they have WiFi so only Whatsapp can be used.

The home is very private, neat and in the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains. Opportunity to walk very far in the mountain.
Ryan and his wife were very friendly and helpful with the initial communication about our expected arrival time and directions, as well as the reception and advice / advice during our short stay. The farm is breathtaking. Accommodation is very neat, comfortable, well equipped and private. We stayed in the garden apartment. We would love to go back again and spend more time there and explore the farm and area better! Thanks Woodcliffe!
My wife and I took a getaway over the long weekend and stayed 4 night in the cottage. Beautiful area. At night you light a fire with the sound of the birds, cattle and jackals. In the day we enjoyed some hiking trails in the Drakensberg mountains! Swim in clear, clean pools. Naude's Nek was also beautiful to see. For the gravel road to Rhodes, I would just set aside enough time. The road is full of potholes but a beautiful route. The cottage has all the basic necessities (like you would find in a farm house).
The house offers everything one needs.
Simple and pristine. No cell phone reception or TV.
