We travelled with my spouse and another couple. Woodlands was very nice and peaceful. I understand they are working on the garden area, so I am looking forward to returning one day to sit around the fire and relax.
The host at Woodlands Retreat is very friendly and helpful and we had a great time there.

We were pleasantly greeted by the housekeeper. There was a problem with water when we arrived and we were informed of it by the housekeeper. This was sorted out and we had a lovely shower before dinner. We had all the comforts we needed for an overnight stay. The garden needs some work, however. Things look a bit neglected, but if you can look past that, everything else was pleasant.

Quiet and beautiful place with everything you need. Beautiful garden with pleasant people and animals. Close to everything you can just walk where you want to be and many hiking trails up the mountain or in the area.
We had a wonderful stay and the quality of the bedding and towels was top quality! Nice stoepie with a nice view of the mountains. I booked the place knowing it was small and it really didn't bother me, but I'm just suggesting that not everything in the cottage is small. Maybe put a two-plate stove in the cupboard instead of one, you can also really get a bigger grater, we made braai buns and it was gonna be a story with that grater. I also suggest making a sharp cutting knife available to your guests, and a larger pot and pan. As I say, we had a lovely stay and I would definitely come again, it's just the fact that everything is small that bothered me a bit.
Good value for money. Road is a bit bad, but the beautiful surroundings definitely make it worth it. Clarens is always a winner.

We were warmly received and the suite was absolutely adequate for me and my daughter, beautifully clean, fresh and tidy. Everything was available in the kitchen area that we needed. There is lovely underfloor heating which makes the suite very pleasant, even if it is cold. It's in a very peaceful area and lovely to escape to. The garden is a lovely peaceful informal garden with beautiful large trees. It's incredibly good value for what you pay. We will definitely use it again. Cherrene and Roy have a winning recipe!

The hosts went out of their way to tell us of places to go even drawing a map to get us to the correct place. The room was kept spotless. We received tea, coffee, milk and rusks each day. Our hostess knew of many places to visit in the area and could give us a bit of information on each place, this made it more pleasant to visit these places with a bit of background. The cabin was very small - and we actually expected it to have one separate bedroom with the bunk beds in the living area. But it was all just in one room, however - the cabin was very neat and clean and with all the needed items. Also, a very nice gesture to provide rusks, coffee, tea and milk every day - and a cleaning service included.

Woodlands is a good overnight base to explore the Clarens area. The rooms are neat, small and good as a sleeping facility.

On arrival we were told another couple wanted to stay longer and we were then given a room with 5 beds which felt like a backpackers. The view from our room was not at all like in the photos and we were not impressed. The toilet didn't work either. We will not go back again.

It's the first time we visited Clarens, didn't know what to expect. On the way we were called to find out if everything was in order, and at what time they could expect us. We immediately felt comfortable and were greeted kindly and explained what to do and told a few experiences, one could not help but look forward to a good break. Accommodation was clean and comfortable, everything needed for a break away from the city is there, would love to do it again, and am already planning another weekend break.
