The staff from the reception area were very welcoming and friendly. They were also very helpful whenever we needed anything or any help. Unfortunately, I don't remember the owner's name, but she is a very nice lady. The place is very clean, quiet, safe, and very reasonable. It's within walking distance to the beach and to Matgate Mall. I will definitely come back with my friends to visit Woodpecker.
Had a great stay and was exactly what I expected, I just searched for an awfully long time, the GPS directions were not correct.

Only there 1 night. Found the accommodation very basic; lots of shortcomings which I've drawn to the attention of the management.
The Friday night was very noisy. People urinated in the gardens. When I wanted to make breakfast on Saturday morning, there was no gas bottle in the unit. The excuse was "the owner did not fill them up". Why then book a self-catering unit? There is a braai, but no braai tongs. The unit's breakware also leaves a bad impression on me. Incomplete, full of stains, no grater. The toilet leaks. No power plugs near the bed. I had to ask for an extension cord.
Yes, at Woodpecker just next time will choose something with a balcony a bit bigger and sea view. Other than that, it was very nice.

The accommodation is clean but as basic as one would expect for the price. The finishes are outdated but functional, except for the ceiling fan, which turned but created no airflow at all. A freestanding fan was supplied though when we expressed our need for one. During our first night there, the other guests seemed to be having one big party and the noise carried on for hours in close proximity to our room. It was not a pleasant night. We did not stay there for our second night.
It was okay, except we had to ask them to change the sheets and towels. They told us, according to management, sheets and towels must be cleaned when we vacate the building. For us, we feel it was unfair to sleep on dirty sheets. But we spoke to the ladies that clean our room, and then they changed the sheets and towels.
We got a room with 2 single beds while we wanted a room with double bed, but the overall stay was pleasant even though it gave a communal vibe, shared bathroom, and kitchen. But the place is very clean.
For the price, nothing to complain about. Staff was super friendly, outside area was clean every morning, inside clean daily. We had one evening a group of loud visitors, but management did attend and all was quiet and in order. Air-con would be nice, but ceiling fan was good enough. Well equipped with all the necessities to prepare food, and storage. One suggestion, let the client pay a key deposit of R300 (room-keys and vehicle gate-remote).
We enjoyed our overnight stay, but unfortunately other guests were not considerate of other people. The music in their room played all night long (quite loud). Apart from that, it was a very pleasant place and very neat room.

In your rooms there are no TV's, no bathrooms they are outside, at night you have to go out of the room that is the challenge. Please renovate and have bathrooms inside.

Often other guests who were loud and rowdy. Mostly, the rowdy guests also had an abundance of visitors who partied late into the night. Had to "negotiate" with the rowdy party myself to make less noise.
We made the booking and paid the deposit. On check-in our unit was changed for a backpacker room. The bed rest had dust. One of the units had bed mites, the host didn't even come to apologize or explain what happened to our booking. She left a friendly receptionist, who told us we had a discount due to the change and had no answers after that.
Erroneous coordinates on Woodpecker's confirmation wasted time. Can you please correct. Lady at reception is aware of it. Had a great sleep. Thank you.
Was there at 14h30 to book in and unit was still not clean. Place is very small and little space for family with 2 children.
Photos not true reflection. Room fan not working. One tiny room with double bed and two single beds. One person can't even fit in the bathroom. Very run down. No aircon.

It was very nice, but what is written on the rules and regulations is not carried out by the residents. There was a lot of noise and loud music played, the other people had been so loud. and 05:00 in the mornings they made so much noise that you couldn't even sleep.
Locking of gate at a set time, a bit if problem if attending a function.

Woodpecker on Marine is ideal for people looking to stay over one or two nights. The only big problem that we had was the fact that the room was extremely hot and there were no windows, only the sliding door and fan had to save us, but even that didn't help.
Friendly staff and lovely beaches. There was a lot of noise from other guests.
