Woolly Bugger Farm

Accommodation comprises of 6 stone cottages. There are 2 large family cottages, 1 cottage that sleeps 4 and 3 cottages that sleep 2. The cottages are all equipped for self-catering and have a fireplace inside and a verandah with braai facilities and views over the dams.
We are pet-friendly and welcome trained well-socialised dogs, please note that the cottages are not fenced in.
A perfect getaway from the city. Walking and mountain biking trails cover the farm for guests to discover the natural beauty. Zebra, red Hartebeest and Blesbok roam the back of the farm.
Guests may fish in the two dams – one fully trout and the other mixed dam with bass, carp and trout.
We advise high clearance vehicles as the roads to the farm are dirt roads and depending on the weather and when they were last maintained, can be in a poor condition.

90 guests' feedbackBeautiful stay overlooking the two dams. It was so lovely and quiet during the evenings. Wonderful hikes that were well marked and the map helped a lot. Fishing was great.
Clean and tidy. Looks like the photos.
Breathtaking nature, freedom, secluded, well equipped. An absolutely stunning place!
It was such a peaceful weekend. Clean and tidy.
Great place for a peaceful getaway. Cottages are fully equipped and very practical and clean. Lots of walking space. Fishing if that is your interest. And just rest. Will go again for sure.
Many it is just to get there. The dirt road is rough! But the cleanliness and atmosphere of the accommodation makes up for it. Love it!
Love the way it is run - so user friendly and efficient. Super clean, beautiful and well put together. Fireplace in cottage fabulous. We had wonderful long farm walks with the kids through incredible bush, saw zebras and buck! Amazing! We had an in-week stay and found the mining in the area a bit noisy at times, but otherwise this is a very peaceful place. Thank you!
The accommodation is very nice and tidy. The farm dog Morgan is so loving and a wonderful walking companion.
Very nice stay. Very beautiful scenery.
Peaceful and successful December holidays!
Woolly Bugger is a very friendly destination where you can just enjoy yourself in nature. This is one of our favorite breakthroughs.
Clean and tidy, all appliances work perfectly. Gas geyser works great and fireplace.
Always nice to stay here, especially since you can take the four-legged friends with you. Tranquility and peace for the soul.
Beautiful and peaceful, we really enjoyed our stay and so did our fur-babies.
We were here for our wedding anniversary and overall our experience was very nice. Sharon's service was fantastic and she was extremely helpful, she also gave us all the necessary information in advance to make our weekend as pleasant as possible. The farm itself was beautiful and had a peaceful atmosphere. However, our cottage was a bit on the small side with no cupboards to store clothes and no place to put down bags or store fishing rods. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the gas stove was a big plus. The warm blankets added a nice touch, especially as it was quite cold during the weekend. However, one aspect that disappointed us was the gas geyser. We were hoping to enjoy a hot bath, but unfortunately the water was cold all weekend. It took away some of the romantic aspect of our getaway and it felt like we were almost camping with the cold water. We also noticed that there was a camera on the porch of our cottage, which led to a mixed feeling of unease and the feeling that our privacy might have been compromised. While this may have been a safety measure, it cast a slight shadow of doubt on the amount of privacy and seclusion we expected during our romantic weekend away. Apart from the points mentioned, I would still recommend them and thank them for a unique experience in a beautiful place.
Lovely hikes that are well marked out.
We had a great bike ride, it's a mountain biker's dream. The people in the area are friendly and helpful. The unit is comfortable, lovely beds.
Location is going to be a problem if it rains a lot to reach. Griller on oven is faulty and my daughter picked up burns, not nice. Environment very nice. Definitely not pet-friendly, wet red soil with white towels and bedding does not work.
Perfect for a quick weekend getaway. Rest for the soul.
Thank you to Angela, the 4 of us had a lovely stay at their Blue Dunn cottage, it was clean, neat and exactly what we were looking for for a breakaway. Lots to offer and plenty of firewood for the cold nights. The kids loved Morgan (farm dog) who walked with us and slept in front of our fire. Will definitely be back.
We had a great weekend at Woolly Bugger Farm. The fish could have bitten more, but for anyone who needs a rest, wants to walk, bird watch or fish, Woolly Bugger Farm is a very nice place.
See stars.
Die verblyf was grieflik en karaktervol. Verblyf is vêr genoeg van mekaar af en ander gaste is nie in jou spasie nie.
The house was neat, clean, spacious and well equipped. Nice place to go for a run on the farm. Our children enjoyed the pool. We would recommend Woolly Bugger Farm.
We and our dog really enjoyed it. Cozy rooms, warm fireplace, nice view and nice hiking trails. Friendly service.
Very neat house in nice surroundings. Only 30 km dirt road to Woolly Bugger and the dams water was very low.
The stay and the whole experience at Woolly Bugger Farm was an exceptional experience for us and for the dogs it was heaven on earth.
My husband and I booked Woolly Bugger for our wedding anniversary. The cottage was beautiful, rustic, but modern and well furnished. We were able to go for long walks, watch wildlife and my husband caught a nice trout. Our two dogs could also enjoy the weekend with us! We definitely recommend it!
We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is beautiful. Scenery magnificent. Fishing good. This is a place where you can truly rest and recharge.
Woolly Bugger is a lovely setting away from the city. The cottages are very well equipped for self-catering with all the necessary utensils and equipment you might require. They supply everything in surplus and don't skimp on the extras such as fire wood, fire lighters, tea/coffee/sugar which is great. The beds are super comfortable (big plus) and cottages are done rustic and simple but very functional and exquisitely decorated with beautiful details and lighting fixtures. We will most definitely go visit again. It was a big treat for us and the dogs, they had a blast outdoors making friends with Morgan!
We had one of the most peaceful two days of our lives! Beautiful location and all the facilities are very nice and tidy and well looked after. There are many beautiful walking trails on the farm and our dogs really enjoyed them. Tonteldoos is only 7 km away for a nice breakfast. The district roads are very nice for mountain biking. We will definitely go back again!
It's absolutely worth the drive. Although it is some distance from Dullstroom, the peace and quiet is worth it. We will definitely visit Woolly Bugger again.
The little house we stayed in was neat and very well-equipped for a self-catering unit. It seems as if though everything was new. The farm has beautiful trails. The fact that we could take our dogs with was a big plus for us. In my opinion it is the best value for money in the area. However, the road leading to the place is not in good condition.
Angela and Jono went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant weekend, they were super friendly and liaised with us beforehand to ensure our needs were met. The accommodation was clean and had everything you would require for self-catering. We go to Dullstroom on an annual basis and this was one of the best equipped, cleanest and most pleasant venues in the area. Beds were very comfy with clean and crisp bedding. What a pleasure not to have a TV for the weekend. The house has enough games to keep everyone entertained. The firewood that was provided every day was an added bonus. The view was spectacular, such a feast to enjoy the sunset with a glass of wine! We were unlucky that other guests monopolised the pool area the entire weekend, our kiddies would have loved to swim. Could perhaps suggest a shower door instead of a curtain. Will most definitely return next year!
We relaxed wonderfully, the fantastic views of the mountains and fields make the almost impassable road worthwhile!
Very well rested and the children really enjoyed the farm and fishing setup. We will visit Woolly Bugger Farm again.
Many thanks to the owners, it was a lovely, peaceful weekend, we really enjoyed the silence and views. We will definitely recommend Woolly Bugger to family and friends.
Was a great weekend, great location with lots to do and it's not too far from Dullstroom.
This is a lovely little treasure close to Tonteldoos. Although the road was a bit bad for a which our friends drove we drove a bakkie and it was fine. The houses are really clean and has everything you need. There is a restaurant close by which is open for breakfast until dinner. The houses were really cosy and serviced for an extra charge that is not much at all. There is a lapa area with a swimming pool that's also really nice to use especially if you are a group. We really loved our stay and I personally felt the owners just want you to enjoy yourself.
I don't really have words to describe it: Incredible views, comfortable and well-equipped cottages, privacy, good fishing, plenty of wood for the fireplace as well as for barbecuing. This time most restaurants were at least open after 12, but please take everything you need with you. Remember, here you easily get 4 seasons in a day, so pack accordingly. Remember your swimwear, walking shoes and bikes! We stayed 4 nights with two teenagers and no TV or good signal reception, and they didn't want to drive. Nice hours in front of the fireplace and on the porch with cards and other games. Delicious!
Nice, peaceful weekend! Very neat and clean, everything you need for a wonderful, peaceful, quiet weekend.
Woolly Bugger Farm is just the right place to recharge your batteries and break away from the 'rat-race'. The units are comfortable and we had a beautiful view of the farm's trout ponds. There were other guests with their dogs and it created a pleasant atmosphere. What's better than a late-afternoon walk with your 'best friend' on a beautiful farm, far away from the city?
It was really neat and we were well received. The road towards Woolly Bugger took a bit long due to the bad condition but it was really worth it.
Woolly Bugger exceeded my highest expectations. Everything is just incredibly beautiful. Would like to spend more time there on our next visit. Sedgehog Cottage was perfect for the 4 of us and was very good and stylishly equipped. Top of the World is incredibly gorgeous. A few things to remember: 4 seasons in 24 hours. You really have to take all your food with, Tonteldoos does not offer much. Cat and Cow is a friendly eatery if you are tired of making food. Braai your trout immediately, that is when it is the most delicious! We will definitely go again, this time for longer, and we will have a picnic on TOTW! Remember, it's almost an hour's drive from Dullstroom tot Tonteldoos, with a low car maybe even longer.
Our cottages were very neatly and cutely furnished. I haven't experienced such silence for a long time and of course beautiful stars. We were greeted kindly upon arrival. The last stretch of road is a bit rough. Passable but dirt road - try to arrive before sunset.
Such a relaxing holiday, would recommend it to anyone. We took our dogs and our cat and they enjoyed the open spaces and freedom. The accommodations are very cute and equipped with everything you need. They replenish your supply of wood each morning and remove the refuse. Lots of activities for the family, but if you just want to be quiet and enjoy nature this place is for you too.
Thank you, great service and amazingly pretty farm!
Beautiful area but roads to the venue are in a bad condition. Hospitality was good but loud music from the area next to the dam on the Saturday morning was not appreciated.
See stars.
Excellent place to stay.
The owners of the farm are very friendly and helpful. Our home was cleaned daily and we got more than enough wood each morning for the braai and fireplace. Lovely walking trails that our 2 scotty dogs enjoyed along with us. We enjoyed the farm tremendously. Will not go with our Polo again, the road to the farm is relatively rough for a low car (though not so bad that it can't be used). If possible, go there with a bakkie or SUV. Close to Dullstroom and surrounding eateries. Due to an injury we couldn't take part in all the activities on the farm. Would like to fish, do archery and suchlike next time.
A clean place, friendly receptions from Jono and the dogs, the cleaners are friendly. It was just very dry and we couldn't really fish. We had a lovely rest.
We will definitely go again. Cottages very private and well located, don't even know about other guests who also visit there. The surroundings are very beautiful, road to get there just a bit bad.
Do yourself a favor and go stay there.
Service was perfect. The follow through from Travelground is world class. All from the mapping and reminders and app calendar was perfect.
Feel free to see the stars.
Woolly Bugger's Sedgehog unit we stayed in was really neatly furnished. You don't lack anything. The "view" is very beautiful. We had a great time walking and riding bikes and sitting on the porch playing games. Well rested, and will definitely want to go again.
Neat, fully equipped with personal attention and a lot to do.
Really enjoyed it, but our dogs didn't enjoy the husky and labrador that came to visit often.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. Lovely farm and the house is beautiful - clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend.
Woolly Bugger Farm is the ideal getaway for someone who wants to get away from the hectic city life and just relax in nature. The house was comfortable and we and the dogs really enjoyed the weekend. Would recommend anytime!
One of the best "fly-fishing venues". All facilities, amenities and recreation are top quality. Definitely one of the best family getaways to relax and enjoy nature. The accommodation is of high, exquisite quality. All facilities are extremely neat and clean and the owners go out of their way to make the accommodation and facilities as comfortable as possible. Definitely on our permanent list of family getaways.
It was wonderful to be able to take our two sheepdogs with us too! We really enjoyed our time at Woolly Bugger Farm. The house was very clean and tidy. The hiking trails were wonderful. The children want to know when we are going again. The fly fishing was a new experience, but unfortunately we didn't catch anything.
Will recommend it to friends. Had a lovely 3 days. Thanks.
The road out of Dullstroom is not as bad as everyone says and can be done slowly in a normal car. The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. We relaxed and enjoyed ourselves, despite the fishing not being fantastic. If you are planning on going, choose a time when there is no moon - there is very little artificial light so the stars are stunning. It is not a short trip back to Dullstroom though so don't bank on driving back for an hour or two. There are two sand roads, one from Stoffberg which is shorter and one from Dullstroom. If in doubt use the Dullstroom route; it is much better particularly from Johannesburg.
Had a good stay. Very well equipped on a lovely farm. Dirt road was a bit unpleasant, but it was doable.
We enjoyed the stay. It was cosy, neat and clean and the host was friendly and even gave us a fishing lesson for free!
I suspect our dog enjoyed the getaway even more than us! Peace and quiet so good for the soul. The little house is beautiful and we had nice braais and sleep! The walking trails are a must! Pack your bags, grab the kids and the doggies, get in you car and visit Woolly Bugger Farm! We will see you guys again on the farm.
Very cute, neat little place with excellent service from Jono, what a pleasure to visit, fish and archery. Highly recommend it.
Fantastic! I can highly recommend it. Everything was painfully neat and clean. We received a friendly and warm welcome. The boys enjoyed riding motorbikes and fishing. The scenery is particularly beautiful. We will definitely go again. From our youngest 3 to the oldest 14 had an unforgettable weekend. A weekend is too short! Thank you Jono and Angela.
The white sheets and white towels were wonderful and luxurious. We really enjoyed the walk over the mountain and the fish ponds are beautiful and well maintained. We will definitely go back again for another nice, cozy weekend. The one bedroom stone cottage was very luxurious and well maintained. The bathroom and kitchenette from the top shelves. The cutlery, pots and pans are modern and luxurious and we really enjoyed it. The service was warm and friendly and the cleaning services top notch. Thank you very much, it was a wonderful holiday on the beautiful farm.
The moment we walked in, we decided we would visit Woolly Bugger again! It's clean, minimalistic (but with everything you need!). A very nice view, a beautiful walking path and many, many birds!
For anyone looking to get away for a bit, whether you fish or not! Woolly Bugger is a must! The view, place, and people amazing. The walkway and dams are beautiful, and very very well laid out. We felt really welcome. Would only suggest that a 4x2 or a 4x4 is a must to get there. The map to get there was also precise and we had no trouble getting to the farm at all. Important to update the map for Dullstroom; street names have changed.
It was very nice. The people are helpful and friendly. The place is incredibly beautiful and there is plenty to keep you busy. Our dogs enjoyed swimming in the pond and walking everywhere with us. I would just suggest not going with a sedan, the road is more suitable for taller vehicles.
I enjoyed it a lot. The cottage was great and well equipped. The fireplace came into its own in the winter. I will definitely go to Woolly Bugger again. The trout were a bit difficult to catch. But that's always a fly angler's challenge. The silence and the nature and location were wonderful. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
House is very well equipped, and had everything that was needed. Place very clean and tidy. Bedding very warm for the cold weather. Fishing was very nice and good.
Woolly Bugger Farm offers very comfortable accommodation in peaceful surroundings. Service was very good. I really enjoyed the hiking trail on the farm.
The house where we stayed was beautiful and nicely furnished. Fireplace was a plus with the cold! Quiet environment with a nice view. Will definitely recommend it.
There are lovely walking trails and the sunsets from our cottage were breathtaking. It was indeed the peaceful web Greek we needed.
Great place! Our 3 year old daughter really enjoyed the bow and arrow and hiking trail. We will definitely go again.
Nice stay. Fireplace and electric blankets were WOW. Excellent service received.
Very nice location and liked the accommodation. Place where you can rest well. Will definitely try to visit again.
See the stars.
We came as a group and though it was good, we wonder if owners would consider putting in a TV for entertainment (It should cater for a group in terms of facilities, ie: a swimming pool). Otherwise, it is a beautiful place and quiet..
See the stars below.
The dirt road from Dullstroom is apparently the best to the farm, but not in good condition. However, it is worth it as the farm allows one to escape for a moment from the hustle and bustle of city life and the tranquility allows you to truly relax. There is enough to keep the children busy and the evenings around the fireplace were nice and cozy. No one missed the TV. The Sedgehog stone cottage was fully equipped, very comfortable and clean. The ponds' water quality is good and there are many rainbow trout. Jono and Anna made us feel completely at home. We can definitely recommend the Woolly Bugger to people who love the outdoors. They will see us again.
I will recommend Woolly Bugger Farm to all my friends and my family. We enjoyed it and will stay longer next time.
Very nice place to relax, the best farm accommodation we have stayed in.
Will definitely visit again. The hiking trails are really very beautiful and are suitable for young and old. Definitely going to do the 4x4 trail and mountain bike trails next time when it's completed. The sunrise and sunset are breathtaking. We enjoyed it very much.
Fortunately, I was driving a bakkie, otherwise I would have quite possibly damaged my vehicle.
