156 guests' feedbackCecile is a fantastic hostess who prepared the most delicious lasagna for us and went out of her way to make it convenient for us. Poplar Cottage is a lovely peaceful farmhouse and we will definitely be going back. Everything was perfect. We really enjoyed the fireplace. Thank you very much, Cecile.
We had a great time staying at Wyford Farm - it really felt like we were away from everything and everyone and could relax. We took a nice walk to stretch our legs after a long day on the road before we lit a nice braai hour and made some nice food so that we could crawl into the cozy bed before us with a full stomach. the next day properly refreshed could travel on.
Really enjoyed our stay.
We slept over on the way to KZN and it was wonderfully peaceful, beautiful, neat and clean. Thank you very much for your effort with our 2 children!
It's an amazing place, but due to the recent snow storm, they don't have electricity and water. However, Cicil was very helpful and cooperative. It is an amazing place, and I will return to stay there to relax.
Friendly service. Beautiful view.
What a lovely place, tranquility of sheep bleating and clean air. Fresh food and delicious pickled vegetables were a bonus. Personal service and friendliness of the hostess was pleasant. We will definitely spend time there more often. Km of walking around the farm was very nice.
The room was well appointed, beautifully decorated and very comfortable to stay in. We needed a halfway stop between Durban and Jhb, but would love to come back to Wyford Farm as the destination and spend more time there. The farm is peaceful with expansive views, so there is an immediate sense of being at rest. Truly a gem.
Loved the atmosphere. Exceeded our expectations.
What a phenomenal place. Quiet, neat and stunningly beautiful. The meal we ordered in advance was fantastic and very tasty. We will definitely book again.
Fireplace with enough wood is provided to make unit nice and warm. Convenient stopover on the way to the sea. Neat and well equipped.
Lovely! We especially loved having dinner ready for us after a day on the road. The butter chicken was delicious!
I booked the overnight stay for my parents. They were so well received even in the rain. Cecile is a wonderful hostess. They received their barbecue packs which are delicious - the best garlic bread and rump steak, and a basket of their breakfast goodies. Lovely warm fireplace and perfect braai facilities even in the rain. Thank you very much for taking such good care of my parents. Will definitely recommend.
Reception was very friendly, we had a nice stay in a clean and tidy unit. Our Yorkie also enjoyed it as it was safe for him to move around. Will stay there again.
We spent the Easter weekend at Wyford Farm, and must say it was perfect. The accommodation was simple but spotlessly clean and fully functional. It was wonderful to be able to wander without having to worry about trespassing or walking onto property we were not supposed to be on. One of the few places in South Africa we have been where you are welcome to walk between farms and explore. We had a perfect horse ride into the mountains with the herdsmen to count cattle; spent one day under a tree by a dam surrounded by cattle, fishing, swimming and hiking. We took our two dogs which were as happy as we were. It was just a pity that we only stayed for the weekend - there was so much we did not get to do because of time, e.g. milk the cows, explore the historical sites in the area along hiking trails and learn more about the farm's history.
Thanks for a clean place.
Friendly welcome from the host and the dog children. Old worldly outside but beautifully modern inside. Tasty dinner and breakfast. Slept peacefully. Will stay there again.
It was a lovely stay, the food we ordered was high quality (Woolies which was unexpected) and the cottage was well equipped.
I have stayed there on numerous occasions and love the place.
We had an incredibly nice stay.
Such a beautiful cottage! Very well thought of in so many ways. Perfect for load shedding times. I will stay there again and would recommend it to anybody!
The peace and quiet is just incredible.
Once again a wonderful time on the farm.
Cecile was very hospitable and friendly. The place was clean and tidy. We had a lovely stay in the silence and natural beauty.
Very nice, quiet and peaceful house. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. Delicious meals that are perfect after a long day of travel. Thank you very much! The dirt road to the farm may be a bit difficult for small cars to pass.
We had a very nice stay.
If you are looking for a peaceful farm atmosphere where your children can interact with nature, but you still have all the comforts of home, this is for you. Friendly service, beautiful scenery and everything you need.
Lovely countryside. need to stay a few nights. There was no TV and WiFi as advertised there is and access road not great for ordinary vehicles. Otherwise friendly service and lovely having Bingo accompany one! Great venue if you had kids and bikes.
The garden house is just not very private, the owner's kitchen is directly behind.
Very nice, just too short.
Beautiful surroundings and cottage very homely. Lovely among the animals. Pure farm.
Cecile was an excellent host, and the food we ordered was superb (beef stew).
Everything was very good except for the road from the N3 to the farmhouse. You need a 4x4 and not a normal sedan motor.
Lovely peaceful nature stay among animals.
Fantastic. We enjoyed the dinner. She was friendly and we enjoyed our stay.
We had a great sleep and the food was also of top quality.
Tranquility refreshed you and made the rest of the trip enjoyable. Will definitely stay here again and make a stop on next trip to South Coast.
We only spent one night at Wyford Farm, but the cottage was well-appointed, comfortable, and clean. The farm itself is also beautiful, and we had some lovely walks there.
Very well furnished with a nice view. Our children really enjoyed the farm animals.
We are regular visitors.
Was a very nice experience with friendly people where you can walk around the farm among farm animals.
We were warmly welcomed and had a wonderful stay. The fireplace was a bonus! The thick stone walls and farm animals take you to another era!
We were received very hospitably. The place was well equipped and there was nothing missing. The place was cozy and tastefully decorated. We ordered dinner and I can definitely recommend it. Cecile prepared a delicious meal and she is no slouch. Lovely rural area with stunning views. We recommend it.
What a great evening we spend at Wyford Farm. It's the small things that made the stay feel more special. The stick put in the braai area and fireplace is amazing touch. Thank you.
Correspondence is very good and our reception friendly. The cottage was sparkling clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
A beautiful and cozy place to sleep in nature with a very nice view. The surroundings are beautiful and the cottage is cuddly, romantic and well equipped.
Very neat, quiet and peaceful.
The place is very comfortable and well located between Pretoria and the Natal coast. They are dog friendly, even our 3 sheep dogs could stay.
From first communication to arrival, Cecile was attentive and friendly. Our 3 dog children were welcome and welcomed by very friendly hosts and their own dog children. The farm road was in very good condition, the cottage incredibly clean and tidy. Next time we will make it not just a pit stop but part of our holiday to stay a day or two.
Basically everything one needs for a quick sleepover or a peaceful weekend in nature.
Just off the N3, and easy to stop over on way to the coast. Poplar cottage was snug and well equipped with great hosts.
Immediately after turning off the N3 onto the Wyford Farm Exit you are transported to another world. Farm sounds and the natural beauty surround you. We were a little early at our destination, but were welcomed with open arms. There was help with unhooking the cart, fire already packed and ready to light. A surprise was the cup of fresh farm milk in the fridge. Fully equipped house and a friendly dog that welcomes you. Would definitely recommend it. We will definitely make Wyford farm our overnight destination in the future!
Absolutely gorgeous. We stayed overnight with our two dogs. The only thing I will say is if you choose to stay with your dogs they need to be friendly with other dogs. There are four large dogs, who are very friendly, that roam freely. My dogs aren't the biggest fans of other dogs so we walked around only within the garden and kept their leashes on. Otherwise, everything is wonderful, very clean and well-furnished. And the surroundings are honestly beautiful.
We had a great stay - the only downside was that we arrived too late in the afternoon to take in the beauty of this gorgeous property on day one!
We stayed in the Poplar cottage. The magical stream near the house was beautiful. The house overlooks a beautiful farm pond. It was quiet and peaceful and we didn't hear any traffic. The starry sky was something to remember. We were able to walk around and explore the farm, what a privilege! Our children enjoyed the pristine stream! Our children could feed the sheep and look after all the other farm animals. The fresh farm milk was a great treat. The bed in our cottage was not the most comfortable we have ever had, but for one night it will do. Thank you very much for the hospitality. We will definitely visit Wyford farm again.
Very nice overnight on the way to Umhlanga. Quiet and farm atmosphere very much enjoyed. Cecile made us feel welcome. Aloe house was very neat and clean. Would recommend Wyford anytime and would stay there again.
Very convenient. Close to main road but wonderfully quiet. Private. Friendly people.
Historic place on working farm.
Just had a quick overnight stay - very pleasant!
Clean and tidy with a friendly hostess. Close to the main road but far enough not to be bothered by the noise of the vehicles. The road is very good and can be easily driven with a regular sedan. Definitely a good accommodation option.
Friendly reception. Clean and homely feel to the cottage. The fireplace was an added bonus in the cold weather. Perfect for a stopover. Next time and for a longer stay I will prefer one of the other cottages away from others.
The overnight house was very well equipped, everything we needed was there and more. Friendly owners, and quiet on the farm.
Had a warm welcome. Really enjoyed the cottage. Power did not bother us, as the place was well equipped with lamps as well as a gas stove. Beautiful landscape. Also really enjoyed the farm milk.
Huge dog friendly garden on aloe cottage which is a big bonus.
We had a wonderful time. Kids could keep themselves busy and it's pet friendly.
My children enjoyed the animals. For sure next year we will not only make it a place to stay overnight but visit for about 2 days so that the kids can go for a walk as well.
Very clean and beautiful view.
Our puppies were safe. Had a very good and friendly reception. Very peaceful environment. Slept well. Will definitely stay there again. The time longer. Had a friendly reception. Very clean and tidy accommodation. Nice peaceful atmosphere. Couldn't hear any traffic from N3, although farm is located near N3. There are facilities for making coffee with load shedding. We could also go for a lovely walk.
Wyford is now our 1st choice for N3 overnight accommodation.
Tranquility and view.
Very safe and quiet place. Nice overnight stop between Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal. Sheila is an excellent hostess.
Fantastic place. Beautiful garden with characterful, well-equipped cottage. We enjoyed it very much. The farm road has tar surface until very close to the cottage. The hiking trails were paved and easy to follow. The cottage has everything we could need, there was wood for sale for the fireplace. We really enjoyed the pet donkey. Very beautiful scenery.
Beautiful hidden, peaceful spot with excellent views. We spent the night in Aloe Cottage with our 3 brats and enjoyed every moment. The cottage is cute and well equipped and we will definitely go there again. For longer this time!
Wyford farm is breathtakingly beautiful. The houses are incredibly neat and clean. The management team is also amazing. Would love to stay there again, but when it snowed. Unforgettable experience. Well done.
The place takes you away from the city and tiring drive. Mesh in front of the door and windows would have helped keep all the bugs out.
The cottages are nice, we enjoyed the fire place. The property is beautiful and the walks are very pleasant.
Sociable, friendly. Environment a bit neglected. The very old buildings add to the character.
Cute place for an overnight stay close to the N3 with a farm atmosphere.
The place is in very nice surroundings, and would recommend it for an overnight stay. Lovely and very beautiful. Nice braai facilities too. Neat and everything you need. Will definitely remember the place when I pass by again.
Beautiful stone house, nice view, very peaceful. Also walked a bit and was absolutely beautiful. Will recommend for sure.
We got there in the rain, and when we arrived Cecile had already turned on the heater in the cottage so that it was warm inside. The "thoughtfulness" with which the unit is equipped struck me - two point "plugs" to charge phones, a mug of fresh, full cream milk in the fridge for coffee. It felt like a peaceful oasis, with so much animal life to see - cattle with calves, horses, a donkey, pigs, turtles, and even a wild deer and blue monkeys. The dogs came to say hello and made our one year old's day after a long day on the road. Will definitely stay there again.
Perfect location and pet friendly!
This was exactly waht we needed, half way on our journey to the coast. Wyford Farm is beautiful and the Jacaranda cottage has everything you need for a nights stay. Shiela is a lovely host and her dogs are so friendly. Our 2 small dogs had a lovely time as well. We will definitely return.
Friendly reception. House spotlessly clean. Location is perfect for a stopover. The donkey is well spoiled. Will use place again as well as recommend to others as a stopover on the way to the sea.
If you are looking for peace and quiet, Wyford Farm is ideal. It is quiet, peaceful with breathtaking scenery. The mountains and hills that surround the farm are beautiful. The cottage we stayed in is beautiful and comfortable. The history of the farm is very interesting. The people are very friendly and helpful. It's peaceful and quiet and would recommend it anytime and would definitely stay there again.
The reception was friendly, the environment beautiful and peaceful. The unit was exactly what I asked for, and the costs very reasonable! I will sleep there more often between Gauteng and KZN.
Wayford is a nice halfway stop between Pretoria and the south coast. Thank you for your hospitality. Everything was very neat.
Friendly reception. Fresh farm milk in fridge. Peaceful farm setting. Wood to make fireplace. Pleasant hiking trails. Will definitely go again for longer and not just an overnight stay.
You are welcome, beautiful hiking trails! We were received so kindly, fresh farm milk in the fridge, nice wood to make a fireplace and the farm dogs make you feel extra welcome! Will definitely go again, hopefully for longer! Thank you very much for your kindness.
Everything you need, very friendly people and dogs, interesting history, very beautiful surroundings. Jacaranda overlooks the pond, with plenty of bird life to watch. Conveniently close to the N3 and Van Reenen. Just note that Jacaranda doesn't have WiFi because I specifically looked for a place with WiFi so just confirm if that's important to you. We will definitely come again, and stayed an extra night to appreciate the peace and quiet.
Really enjoyed our stay, this place is really peaceful and a true gem in Van Reenen's Pass. Would highly recommend it especially if you are travelling with your dogs.
My 2 dog boys and I booked one night as a stopover to the South Coast. My dogs enjoyed the farm dog buddies so much, that I booked them again on my way back to Gauteng. Hospitality, tranquility, beauty, farm life and just natural beauty - all you can ask for. This will now be our stop-over when we can go to sea again.
Will definitely stay again. Nature is beautiful and the fireplace was a bonus. The scenery is indescribable. Facilities are very neat and clean.
A lovely stay over at Wyford. I had to work and had ample 4G signal and my wife and kids loved the farm and exploring, especially the little piglets.
Beautiful peaceful farm, with quiet surroundings, together with the horses and cattle. Fresh air.
One thing you advertise Wi-Fi in unit, but there is none.
Thank you for letting me bring my 3 dogs with me! They really enjoyed the free roaming and playing in a fenced off area!
We were able to relax in a lovely farm environment after a long drive.
Will definitely stay there every time we travel between Durban and Johannesburg. Would even recommend a weekend getaway as the surroundings are beautiful.
Friendly people, nice clean stone house, beautiful with stone floors. Great relax.
My son loved the tour of the farm and the animals. Great service.
Friendly welcome, very nice farm!
Lovely cottage, nestled in the valley under the pass. Clean, tidy, great.
We travel with our 2 labbies, and it is not always easy to find a place where we can sleep with them. Wyford Farm meets all our requirements. The cottage is fenced and we could let our 2 labbies roam around with peace of mind. The other dogs on the premises immediately made friends with the two of us and were able to release all their energy and frolic in the pool. The cottage itself was very comfortable and clean. We couldn't have asked for more for an overnight stop between Limpopo and Kwazulu-Natal. This will definitely become our halfway house now.
Very good reception. Easily accessible. Nice environment.
Friendly hostess. Shower is a handheld device, totally useless.
See stars.
Nice scenery, maybe good for animal lovers.
We were placed in a cottage that leaked when it rained. There was a very strong flowing river in close proximity to the cottage, which led to a feeling of anxiety. The road to the cottage is in very poor condition. We did not receive value for our money - overpriced for what we got.
We arrived to be welcomed warmly. It was a lovely few days of peace. Even though the freeway is so near, you barely hear the cars. Loved the animals and the plants - superb.
Picture pretty. Exactly as in their photos. No misleading. My son-in-law fell ill but could not get to the doctor himself. The owner offered to take him in himself. Absolutely wonderful. People very helpful and friendly.
The Jacaranda Cottage is located at the main house, all on its own, with a mug of fresh farm milk in the fridge. Delicious real farm milk with its thick layer of cream on top.
Friendly people, and the dogs will accompany you on a walk through the whole farm. Nothing rushes you. Will definitely stay there again.
Centrally located. Ideal getaway from city. Clean and friendly.
Rustic farmhouse. Just take something for the mosquitoes!
A place with history.
Meet all the requirements
The nature is very beautiful and it is quiet and peaceful on the farm.
We were at Wyford farm 10 years ago. The farm road what a concern, but we were quite surprised because it is no longer a two track path. We will stay there again.
We initially missed the entrance because we arrived there in the evening and it is not very visible at night. So I would recommend for lighting or something to make the entrance clearer. But other than that it was a very nice place.
First there was no water in the taps - then it was sorted out. The flies were overwhelming. Unit is not very clean and needs attention. Mice in living room all night. We had reservations on our way back but drove past instead.
I was under the impression that we booked in Aloe cottage but then stayed in Jacaranda. Jacaranda is really run down and not up to standard at all.
The hospitality was good but the place is not in good condition anymore.
Dirty bedding, spiders and spider nests. Cockroaches and fish moths and the yard was dirty with other dogs' droppings on the grass. There was plenty of time to clean up! The road very bad!
Lovely place to stay, highly recommended.
We loved our brief stay at Wyford Farm. Fresh air. Lovely walk. Log fire in the evening. Early start the next day.
We were two families with young children and had a lovely stay in the characterful Poplar Cottage. The children really enjoyed the farm with all the animals. The Poplar Cottage is simply and tastefully decorated and we immediately felt welcome. We would like to visit the beautiful farm again on the way to the sea.
Wyford Farm is a beautiful farm located along the N3. It is quite neat and clean. Everything you need is there.
Sheila was very friendly and I really enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere.
Really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely visit again. The farm is beautiful! And the history is awesome. Thanks for a stunning stay!
We had a lovely time there. All the little things that make you realize how hectic life we lead. Friendly reception, was able to go for a wonderful walk, it was really very nice.
Everything was clean and neat. Even though it was raining, Sheila came out and made sure we were happy.
This is our second visit to Wyford Farm and both times were most enjoyable. We stayed in the Garden Cottage as we were just sleeping over the one night and Aloe Cottage was being upgraded. Garden Cottage is cute with everything you need, including a lovely jet-master inside. There is a braai outside as well as a swimming pool. But as it was cold we stayed indoors and used the jet master to keep us cosy. Sheila is very accommodating and our little dogs could run around as the Cottage is fully fenced. Sheila is also very generous and there was plenty of firewood and Blitz to keep us warm.
Rustic accommodation in a beautiful and peaceful farm setting. This is a working farm so expect animal aromas and large cow patties on your walks. Very friendly hosts and their dogs welcomed me. Wet, misty weather prevented my hoped for horse ride but a good walk across paddocks and next to river compensated. Lovely indoor fire, with abundant wood supplied, made for a cosy evening.
If you are looking for a nice break and for something different from the normal hotel setting, then this is the place. Fireplace helped keep the cold away. And sleeping place was warm and cozy.
Very neat, well-furnished accommodation with friendly owners and nice walking routes.
Although it was bitterly cold, we were pleasantly surprised with Wyford. The place was immaculately clean and met all our needs. There is also an interesting history to read about the farm. It was also nice that wood and charcoal were ready to grill and the dust inside also helped a lot to make the atmosphere very nice. The hostess was also very friendly. I really wanted to throw my little fishing rod into the farm pond, but wasn't sure if it was allowed!
Beautiful house and surroundings. Fairly close to N3 so you hear some road noise.
A cute cottage that could sleep a couple and one child. Fresh milk, tea, coffee and sugar is supplied. The small kitchen is adequate if you want to prepare a meal. The only complaint was the double bed, it needs a new mattress.
The local animals came to attack our dogs, and one was bitten. We couldn't walk around at all because the cows were everywhere and made noise all night. The toilet was dirty.
The owner is nice and helpful. It is a place/farm with many historical buildings. Farmhouse is still stone built. The cottage needs attention. The thatched porch ceiling is falling apart. The directions to the farmhouse are vague. Bedding and linen are clean, but place needs a good cleaning, lots of dust. Garden chairs on the porch give way and are made of soft, weak plastic. There are many old, dilapidated implements and rubbish around the farm. However, an ordinary car cannot easily drive up and down a steep path. Post short general update. Lots of potential.
The farm has a rich history. Buildings appeared old and somewhat neglected. Gardens around the cottage also need serious attention, cottage was very clean inside.
Enjoyed the silence, but the place is too remote and I as a woman felt very unsafe.
Chalet needs attention, not clean. Grass was not cut. For the price we could have gotten better accommodation. Not a pleasant experience.
Beautiful view! So tranquil and quiet, farm atmosphere. Everything was neat and clean. The houses have everything you need. Mr and Mrs Russel was very friendly and helpful with our group's requirements. Will definitely go again.
Will come again but would rather spend more days there. it's not a one night place because it's so beautiful. The place just needs a good cleaning, the pots were still dirty, still had some of the previous people's food in them and the microwave wasn't working. Will recommend to friends.
Very peaceful surroundings and cottage is very comfortable. Beautiful surroundings for walking and relaxing.
Our accommodations were adequate for the evening. We had some fresh milk from the farm to go with our tea and a nice warm fire to warm up after a winter evening ride on the bike. The only thing I'd like to see improved is more water pressure for the shower which proved tricky to operate.
See rating.
Because of the drough in the area there were no green grass like the pictures. Swimming pool also out of order because of the drought so all we were able to do was walk around on the farm. Also the room didn't have a TV, but the owners moved us to a room that had everything.
It was what we were looking for. Away from the maddening crowd. Wish there was more time to spend on the farm.
Poplar cottage. The lady is not friendly at all. You rent the whole house but you pay per person. Braai was outside under a decaying roof without a light. This place can accommodate 8 people, 2 showered and then the hot water was done. The wood given for the fireplace doe not even burn, it dies within minutes and is bad wood en fireplace makes a lot of smoke in the house. The drain outside of the house is blocked with ear buds and stuff. It is not very clean and almost no cutlery, and this in a place that sleeps 8. Really not worth the money and I wouldn't recommend it, looks beautiful but looks can be deceiving!
For the first time we decided to stay over on our way to the South Coast and we will definitely do it again and stay at Wyford again. We stayed in Jakaranda and it has the most beautiful view over the dam. In the afternoon the horses come to drink there and late at night you are spoiled with a frog choir. If you are afraid of insects, bring your Doom with. Make sure you bring your hiking boots to explore the farm with. When we arrived there was a braai stacked with wood and coffee, tea, sugar an deliciously fresh farm milk in the kitchen. I am looking forward to our next visit here.
If the place is cleaned and maintained properly I would go there again.
