The 3 bedrooms are spread over 2 levels, 2 upstairs and 1 downstairs, and can accommodate up to six guests on two double, and four single beds. Good quality bedding - duvets and feather pillows - are included in the price. The house comprises two bathrooms, one en-suite and another for guests sleeping in the other rooms. Both have showers, no baths.
The open-plan kitchen is fully-equipped with a stove, microwave oven, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a sheltered braai room as well as outdoor braai facilities and the sitting- and dining area has a wood-burning stove for companionable evenings. There is a 40 inch television with full DStv service, Wi-Fi and a DVD-player.
The distance from the house to the sea is approximately 50 m, the Yzerfontein south beach is just 400 m away and 16 Mile Beach is 1,8 km from the property. The fishing harbour is 800 m away along a wonderful coastal footpath (or 1.7 km when travelling by car).
Please note: There are several steps from street level to the house. Although most guests appreciate the resulting view, people who have difficulty walking or climbing stairs might find it problematic. Cellphone reception in Yzerfontein is good, but the house lies in a 'dead spot' with very weak reception.

59 guests' feedbackThe house is a bit dusty and some of the cupboards were moldy and smelly. Wi-Fi did not reach the main bedroom.
For what we needed, it was really great. They could maybe invest in more rechargeable lights and an ups for the WiFi considering they are in the Eskom grid. But playing guitar under the stars was great too. Would definitely go back.
Thank you for allowing us into your space.
Booked in for Friday to Sunday but so much enjoyed the location we extended it another day. You can properly hear the waves on the rocks just across from the property, the view from the patio/braai area is just fantastic. While the property is old and interior dated it is super clean, bathrooms have been completely modernised, great showers, clean fresh linen, duvets, towels etc and everything works. Good cable Wi-Fi and DSTV and just about get 3G on your phone. An undercover braai area as a backup will be handy in bad weather - we did not have any so cooked on the patio overlooking the sea.
Great location and needed some minor cleaning. This place has great potential.
A new kettle is required. An information booklet would be useful for guests.
House had Cobwebs here and there, I understand that house is allowed, so that's probably understandable, but could do with a good cleaning. Bedding also had black spots on it in master bedroom. Very nice place, think for only R5600 a weekend it must be FANTASTIC inside the house, so think you pay for the view, not so much the luxury accommodation.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 61 Lutiekatz Road.
The plus for us was that we did not have to book out at 10:00 like most of the establishments. We had a relaxing brunch and left when we ready at about 3 pm.
The visit was nice, but at R2000/night one would expect there to be WiFi. For me it was nice to be unavailable, but my husband had to be reachable for his work and that was a problem. Regarding cleanliness: the cutlery drawer was not clean and some of the glasses in the cabinet had fingerprints on them. The kitchen cupboards also smell musty, which is probably understandable from cupboards that are then by the sea. Location: this is my personal choice, but I would like to be closer to the walking beach. The many stairs (60 to be exact) also make the house inaccessible for the elderly. With such a lovely sea view, I would have replaced the small windows in the living room with one large stacking door, but I realize that would then change the feel of the house. The bushes in front of the bench on the veranda will also need to be trimmed back regularly so that they do not obstruct the sea view when sitting on the bench. With all that said, it was a lovely visit in a lovely house.
The house was perfectly located in Yzerfontein with a beautiful view of the sea.
No internet but if you walk down the road it is accessible.
Beautiful location, well located, will go again for sure.
We had a lovely weekend away. The house is fully equipped, a little dated however it adds to the character of the place. We had great service from the site and the house owner when we had to change our dates.
The fresh sea air and sound of waves was very relaxing. The braai room and fireplace made it cozy. All the facilities and accessories were adequate.
Excellent bathrooms and lovely bedding. Bookshelf with books is a bonus.
The house is probably one of the first to be built in Yzerfontein - with a lovely old-fashioned atmosphere that makes you feel at home immediately. At the same time it boasts modern equipment - I have no words to describe the shower - no other shower will ever feel the same again. The view over the sea was breathtaking - you can literally see the sea from every room and it adds incredibly to the tranquility of the beautiful residence.
Wonderful stay. Nice paths to the nearest beach. Had everythjng we required, and more.
The house is located in a wonderful spot overlooking the ocean and Dassen Island. However, it rained the entire weeks and the small windows of the house gave us limited viewing enjoyment. The undercover braai room was warm and comfortably during this chilly weather. However, a word of caution. There are a great deal of steps leading up to the house and we didn't enjoy having to schlepp mountains of food and bags up and down especially since it was pouring with rain on arrival and departure. Overall a lovely old house with everything that one needs to be comfy.
The house is well equipped and very tidy. The Godin smoldering stove in the living room adds to a nice atmosphere and the covered braai works well. The house has a nice sea view and nice seating outside. The location a bit above the road means that it is nice and quiet and you are not aware of traffic.
The garages are advertised, but we could not gain access to them at all. Locks of such a nature that you couldn't even get keys to unlock them. Would also prefer that 57 stairs to residence be lit at night. Can be dangerous if someone trips.
Beautiful view and wonderfully warm with the fireplace.
The house has a beautiful location in Yzerfontein, walking distance from the beach and from rocks to climb. Fantastic sea views and the occasional roar of the sea. The house is quite rustic, with a cobweb here and there, and I would suggest possibly more suitable for a group of friends than a family. Note that it has two private bedrooms, one downstairs and one upstairs and that the '3rd room' is actually an open loft area, also upstairs, with beds. For the price, the house offers a lot: Indoor and outdoor barbecue, beautiful location as mentioned, an equipped kitchen, and DStv. There is also a bookshelf with an excellent selection of books.
The house was well equipped with everything you need. Comfortable beds and pillows. Nice big kitchen with counter and long dining table for many people. Since it was quite cold and windy at times, the undercover barbecue (outside and then) was very nice. The fireplace inside is also nice. Children could keep themselves busy with TV channels. Lovely veranda outside to look out over the sea, and where you can also braai. Secure parking in two garages below street level. There are a lot of steps up to the house from the street which would be difficult if someone is in a wheelchair, or really has a hard time walking. We had a great stay, thank you.
The house offers you everything you need for a weekend/holiday break and has the most beautiful view of the sea. The house is also very centrally located and the walking routes along the sea make it even more special to be able to stay there. Would recommend the house anytime.
See stars.
What a place! Just sitting on the terrace viewing the ocean including rock with seals. Wonderful! We had, as a Dutch couple, a great time with our son and daughter-in-law. Celebrating our visit to SA. One remark: please take care of the dust on the ceilings!
The house is well equipped and very comfortable. Couldn't have asked for a better location. We had a wonderful stay and will be back.
We had a lovely stay at the house for the Easter weekend. The house had everything we needed. The views from the front of the house to Dassen Island are spectacular and the sunsets are amazing. The house is one of the original houses built in Yzerfontein, nothing modern or flashy but like a country house at the sea. The location is at the footpath along the point, so you can enjoy walking. It's also a 5 minute walk to the beach.
We enjoyed our stay a lot.
Stunning house with the loveliest view for enjoying coffee on the patio.
We really enjoyed the house's character, view and large kitchen. Thanks for a great vacation!
There were a few smaller problems with the home. The double bed upstairs is very bad. The double door's hinges are broken. The door of the main bedroom gets stuck, the women could not open it. A lot of lights don't word, especially the stairs that is dangerous at night. Otherwise, a very nice place.
The view is beautiful! Maintenance of the house is very necessary - the fireplace in the living area is unsafe because rusted through exhaust pipe, all the locks of the doors do not work very well due to rust, power in the living area to the TV was initially a problem - electrician could not identify the problem. Oven didn't work, dishwasher didn't seem to work either according to the caretaker/agent. Needs serious maintenance!
Too many little things didn’t work: The house needs maintenance, it's not very clean, the cupboards smell mouldy and the outside lighting isn't good. An enclosed braai area would be nice on those windy days.
Won't get a better view - very comfortable inside with a unique room.
Had a nice time. Enjoyed the excellent view.
The location is wonderful and listening to the waves each night, while going to sleep is very relaxing.
We really enjoyed our weekend. The house has the most beautiful view of the sea with a nice bench for sunrise coffees. We slightly underestimated the amount of stairs with my 91 year old grandmother, but she saw it as a challenge and overcame it. We will definitely visit again!
Very nice house to have quality family time together.
Enjoyed our stay but the house is very old. Windows struggle to open and we could not lock some of the outside doors. No internet or any cell reception. A pity I did not know this when I booked. Wanted to get away for the weekend but had to have cell phone reception. I have a breeding facility and could not check in on the house sitter.
The positive of 61 Lutiekatz Road is that it is by the sea, with a nice view outside the house. Negatives are as follows: - House needs a lot of maintenance, some of the doors and security gates no longer work properly. - Almost no sea view from inside the house, with small windows (with burglar bars) that make the house feel like a prison. - Cutlery not very clean either, most had to be washed before use. - Garage has building material on one side which makes parking difficult. On the other hand, plants grow so that it is difficult to get into the garage without scratching the vehicle
We felt very safe thanks to the burglar bars in front of all the windows. The place is clean. There are games and stuff to read so everyone is kept busy. The view is amazing. The place is quiet and you can relax. I will recommend it to friends and family. The only problem was the cellphone reception. It is very bad on that hill.
It was wonderful to go to sleep every night with the sound of the sea in your ears and every morning when you get up.
Feel free to see the stars.
A wonderful peaceful weekend. The sounds of the waves wash the soul clean and one enjoys the sound. A lovely, clean and tidy house without tiger lantins! Everything is there that one needs. The type of place and home that makes you feel like you've lived there for years. The stairs are good exercise, but promise a very nice view. Truly worth it.
Doesn't have much of a sea view from the living room. It's a shame as the location is perfect, but the windows are very small. There are many steps to climb to the house. Everything inside is neat and clean. Everything you need is there for a comfortable stay, but if you are looking for a nice view from the house you should avoid it. Small windows allow you to see the beautiful sea outside but you will have to stand and watch. You also have to stand outside.
Would recommend the place - just worried about some of the stairs. The wooden stairs very uneven. Wonderful location, very tidy and all necessary accessories. We will definitely use the house again in the future.
Very nice place to stay, with a good view of the sea and with the lock-up garage I could sleep peacefully and not worry about my vehicle.
Feel free to see the stars.
Nice holiday home. You will have to look at doors and windows that either do not open or close and the front door closes only with a sliding lock, no keys for the door or security gate. Always go out the back door. It's just a seaside problem, but the sooner it's addressed, the better. House better suited for family than with friends, due to the open mezzanine room upstairs. Also no closet/shelf space in master bedroom, that closet is used to store linen.
Wonderful peaceful home. It's clean and tidy and exactly what you need!
Wonderful stay, nice and spacious house with everything one needs. Right by the sea with a fantastic view... Walking up the stairs to the house was good exercise. Braaikamer is a nice and cozy place to visit. We really enjoyed our long weekend!
The house is well furnished and comfortable. The view is beautiful! The linen was good. We didn't use the braai room, but it's a very good idea away from the wind and cold. The fabric in the living room is beautiful and I think it works well in the winter. We had a wonderful stay! There are many steps up to the house, good exercise, but not for people who have difficulty walking. Only thing that would have made it more comfortable was if there was a bathroom (or just a toilet and sink) for the two rooms upstairs.
Upper bedrooms do not have bathroom facilities. Have to go down stairs to ground floor every time. Braai place well equipped.
The house is well furnished and the house is right across from the sea. We had a great time. The only problem is the stairs. It is extremely slippery when it gets wet and one of the guests fell down the stairs due to hereof.
See the stars.
Had a great stay, the indoor barbecue was a bonus when the weather didn't cooperate.
