The farm is located halfway between George and Oudtshoorn in the Little Karoo below the Outeniqua Mountains. It is ideally situated for tourists that want to explore the area, or just as a breakaway for a family or group of friends.
Built in 1870, the farmhouse is fully equipped and has been restored to its full glory of shiny Yellowwood floors and Oregon Pine windows, doors and ceilings. The house is furnished with Cape Antiques that have been in the family for decades.
The house is rented out as a whole. The accommodation comprises of 3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 8 guests at a time. The main bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. The second bedroom is a Family room, with 2 single beds that can be converted in a king-size bed, with an interleading room with 2 single beds with an en-suite bathroom with shower. The last bedroom has 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom with a shower.
The rustic kitchen is equipped with a stove and oven, fridge, microwave, kettle, crockery and cutlery. The lounge boasts comfortable seating.
There is a lovely patio with farmland views and there are braai facilities for guests to use.
On the farm, guests can experience a wide variety of activities such as freshwater fishing, mountain biking and hiking, by arrangement, and the unique Karoo fauna and flora.
Attractions around the area include the Cango Caves, the Gamkaberg Nature Reserve, Schoemans Poort, the Montagu Pass, The Goose Wine Estate, Karusa Vineyards, Herold Wines and numerous golf estates such as the 3 Fancourt Golf Courses including The Links at Fancourt, Montagu and Outeniqua as well as Kingswood Golf Estate and George Golf Course. Lovely peaceful stay. Close to Oudtshoorn and George. Perfect for what we wanted.
The farmhouse is perfect if you're looking for a peaceful environment.
It is a good place if you want to experience a farm life, away from city, just to stay and don't want to move around everyday. Hosts are good people, house is well maintained given the time it was built in. Recommend stocking all the daily essentials as there are no shops or restaurants nearby. Good thing is hosts are very honest about all the limitations and they inform you well in advance about everything.
