We had a great stay and had a good rest at Zeekoe Lodge! The Rock Cottage is very cute with a beautiful view of the Vaal River and I would definitely recommend Zeekoe Lodge to family and friends if they need a quick break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The Cottage is also well furnished with everything one would need, there is a need for new pillows in the rooms and the WiFi will have to be looked at (his is rather weak there), but otherwise the rest is excellent.
Totally enjoyed celebrating our anniversary at Zeekoe Lodge with friends. It truly met our needs. It's tranquil, the view is amazing and the host is awesome and super helpful.
We had a wonderful tranquil stay at this hidden gem. The accommodations near the river were cozy with panoramic scenic views. I loved waking up to the sound of flowing water and enjoying breakfast on the porch. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to relax and connect with nature. The only negative is the amount of bugs.
Getting there was a bit of a challenge, but our host came to guide us. The units are self-catering, so go prepared with food etc. as the shops are not close. The unit we stayed in was neat; the only problem I had was the ensuite shower did not have hot water. The road getting to the place is a bit rough; a low car will scrape. The river and surrounding setup is peaceful and relaxing. Fish were not biting but it was still an enjoyable stay. The WiFi was very sporadic, so that would need attending to. There are a lot of insects at night because of the river, so you have to keep the doors closed. I will stay there again.
Stunning view, but unfortunately most of the unit had leaks when it rained. Both beds were wet, bedding, towels, medication, and our electronics on charge were damaged due to this. The front sliding doors can't lock and are not sealed, so then hundreds of bugs enter even when closed.

It was nice and close to be able to go on a Friday afternoon. We also got a call to make sure we were still on the right track and safe. Was wonderfully welcomed and also helped out with a tomato or three that we forgot for the braai buns. The tent house is comfortable and was wonderfully warm, even in the cold of the night. The view and sounds of the Vaal River were also wonderful to experience.

Zeekoe Lodge is really a very beautiful place. We had a nice stay and visited with our friends. Braai area was a nice boma with comfortable chairs and a view of the Vaal River as the sun sets. No shortage of wood or ice, they supply at a reasonable cost. Quiet area and feel like at the sea when you sleep in the evening with water lapping over rocks. Could also sit on deck and admire nature. Children threw some fishing rods into the water, but enjoyed the small pool the most. They advertise as a pet friendly lodge, they also have their own dogs that come to visit and children also enjoy paying attention to them. Small play frame available. Very tidy inside with all the kitchen equipment as needed. 2 fireplaces in unit (river cabin) so think it is also nice to visit there in the colder months.
The surroundings are picturesque. Calm atmosphere. All basic amenities are available. Beautiful location right next to the river, with a fireplace that keeps the cottage cozy and warm. Cuddly bedding.
This is the type of place where you are going to be bored. So if you long for a "soul-searching" getaway, this is the place. If you fish, this is also the place. Dead quiet, with everything you might need. Maybe just take something for mosquitoes and midges. There are a lot of bugs and spiders, so know that you are going to the forest when you check in here! Beautiful bird life to watch!

We had a lovely stay at Zeekoe Lodge. We felt so welcome and were very well looked after. Heaters were put on all throughout the house before we arrived. The house has everything you need. The bedrooms were lovely and the view from the house is gorgeous. Will definitely go back.

Zeekoelodge exceeded all expectations. Everything was neat, clean, new and modern. The plus point was that down by the water there is a communal area with all washing-up facilities, a table, chairs, plates etc. Here we sat and fished very nicely until late at night, around the braai meat fire. There were also some kayaks that one can take out on the water.

Thanks Ansie for an amazing stay! The family house was spacious and suited our needs perfectly since we were joined by the rest of our family on Saturday. I enjoyed sitting on the swing chair with the river flowing in front of me. Your doggies also made me feel so welcome, especially Dinah. Thanks for the special touches ─ fresh flowers and a chocolates in each bedroom. Wow! What more can I say except, if you need a break from the rat race, this is the place. No TV, but there is Wi-Fi. Rather bring a book or two and sit next to the river, read and enjoy a drink. Awesome!

We absolutely loved our stay in the tent. We could unwind on the deck and just be. We are definitely going back. If we knew we will enjoy it that much, we would have booked for longer.
Very friendly hostess. Felt welcome from entering the front door and seeing the fresh flowers on the table. The unit has all that is needed for self-catering. The coffee machine a definite bonus. The stoep has a beautiful view on the river. We definitely recharged our batteries with a bonus being on the river in a canoe.
We absolutely enjoyed the Jacuzzi! On the surface when you walk into the River Cottage, the place looks nice, but the place was actually very dirty inside. Sorry to say, but there really wasn't a corner that was clean, even where they put the toilet paper in, there is dirt and spiders everywhere. But we just spent as much time outside as possible, it was awesome!
House works out great with its 3 bathrooms and 3 bedrooms! Kitchen fully equipped! We were received so kindly, we immediately felt at home! Will definitely go again.

This is a gem of a getaway away from the hustle and bustle of the city and just a short drive from the N1. It is wonderfully peaceful in the well-equipped, tidy house right by the river. One cannot be closer to the river. Nature is right next to you with fish and birds frolicking in the water. The monkeys also came to visit and in the evening when you have a delicious barbecue at the boma there is a lovely frog choir that makes music for you. We also really enjoyed the visits in the Jacuzzi! Thank you Ansie and Ernst for your kindness and hospitality. Your place is beautiful! I can confidently recommend your place and we will definitely come back to you again if we get a chance!
