The Pioniershuis is a small house that is a typical example of the historic lifestyle of our predecessors. The main bedroom has a king-size bed with sitting room and an en suite-room with two single beds. The kitchenette has a Dover stove and beautiful antique kitchenware. The "bath house" is a few steps outside the kitchen and a beautiful view over the Karoo hills. There is a warm shower, basin and a toilet.
The farm kitchen offers a Farm Table in the evening with food from the region. Fresh vegetables from the garden, organic lamb or game with wine or cooldrink to be completed with desert and walking under the stars.
Breakfast is served also on the verandah in front of the swans' dam. Booking is necessary.

Very good place to stay! Extremely hospitable. This is exactly what one is looking for in the Karoo. Next time I will stay longer. GPS makes you drive wrong, can be corrected with direction signs, as well as signs that indicate that you are indeed on the right road.
Chante and her son received us very well despite our booking being wrong. She gave us delicious lamb chops and sausage. We were able to have a great barbecue that evening, slept well and had a nice breakfast. Very friendly and helpful hostess. It was a good experience. Beautiful farm.

Hearty and homely. Chante was a superb and generous host. They even braaied for us. And breakfast - oh, goodie! Our three city boys also enjoyed meeting a new friend, Dawid - a proper plaasjapie and wonderful young man. If we pass those parts again, we'll be sure to visit again.
This place is an absolute gem! An oasis in the Karoo on the most spectacular farm. The hospitality and food from the host and her precious family were top tier. We will be back and left a piece of our heart behind.

Excellent hostess, facilities, comfort, and dinner and breakfast. Would definitely recommend Zeekoegat Country House to travellers needing to stay overnight in this region of the Karoo.
Hostess makes an effort with every aspect of visit, the farm is a pleasure court, meals delicious, accommodation is a great treat.
The facilities are excellent. You are away from other people. There are no cell phone or WiFi signals in and around the cottage. Without social media, we could chat as a family without a thing or a dong bothering us. The dinner and breakfast were also off the books.
Chante is a special hostess who made us feel at home and served us delicious meals. The cottages are very well appointed and the decor is stylish.
It was our second stay and we can't wait to go back.
Everything we enjoyed as well as our cottage where we stayed can easily be recommended to anyone. We appreciated that the hostess warned us in advance about 2 bad spots on the way to the farm.

It's tempting to say that Zeekoegat should be visited for the sake of the food, because Shanti can make "peasant food" taste like Michelin 5-star, but there is much more to such a visit. The silence, the vastness of the environment. Maybe horse riding too, or see Khoisan rock paintings and the beautiful rose garden, or just walk. If you want and can, you can fly there too. The cross runways are well maintained with no obstructions. Just one safety tip: the junction road (from Carnavon or from Vosburg) is hit by washouts and there are dangerous dongas across the road in places. Just drive carefully and slowly.
We were very impressed with our stay. It is artfully and tastefully done. Food was top notch. The welcome was as friendly as if you had arrived at family you hadn't seen in a long time.
We had the most wonderful time at Zeekoegat Guest House. Chante is a fantastic host. The delivery of our Karoo lamb for the braai, together with hearty farm sides, by Chante and her sister-in-law, was a personal touch that is indicative of the care that has been put into this guest house. This off-the-beaten-track spot offers a place for carefree family time. Many small details have been considered and beautifully executed.

Absolutely wonderful! Chante is the perfect host and we felt so at home. The cottage is cute but comfortable, we enjoyed the beautiful fireplace and sky full of stars at night. All meals were delicious! The kids loved the play area in the garden as well as the horseback riding and even a few rounds on the quad. We're definitely planning on returning!

Beautiful oasis with nice hostess and wonderful living facilities. We arrived late and our fire was already packed and all the food set up with a cold beer in the fridge. Truly a great place to rest after a long day on SA roads. I can highly recommend it.
The pioneers cottage was so cute and comfy. Lovely walks, cycling routes and birding walks. The cherry on the top, was the excellent dinner and breakfast. We watched the sheep being sheared, was special. Chante is a fabulous host.

Our cottage was clean, tidy and adequately equipped. The farm itself offers plenty to do - swimming, walking trails and bird watching. Chante, our hostess, went out of her way to make our visit as effortless and carefree as possible, and every meal was a feast.

We were warmly received and immediately felt at home. Chante is an amazing hostess. The dinner and breakfast were of the best quality and you can see that Chante put a lot of love into the food. The cottage was very clean and tidy and met all our requirements for an overnight stay. Chante has thought of the finest detail with fresh, hand-picked roses from her garden in every room, nothing is too much trouble for her. The farm is perfectly located in the Karoo for an overnight stay with silence, starry splendor and peace of mind. Zeekoogat is a must and we will definitely see again!
When you wish that a place like Zeekoegat could be your own, for us it is an indication of the absolute comfort, style and peace that you rarely experience outside your own home. This was an absolutely delightful stay. Quaint stone cottages with all amenities required and the most delicious cuisine served magnificently by Chante. We felt thoroughly spoilt and the 3 fur kids ran their hearts out in the wonderful space at our disposal.

Dit was fantasties, Chante het ons so tuis laat voel en die huisie is pragtig en netjies. Ons het rond gestap, in 'n plaasdam geswem en tot laat in die nag op die gras gelê en sterrekyk. Aandete en ontbyt was stylvol voorgesit. Dit was 'n great ervaring en ek kan dit beslis aanbeveel.

There are not too many starkly beautiful and truly isolated places left. At Zeekoegat you won’t need to turn off your phone, the Karoo obliges. Disconnected, warmly welcomed, well fed and with the milky way to refresh your soul, the farm is an idyllic road trip rest stop. Switch to vacation mode here, slough off the things that doesn't matter, get some perspective. A wonderful spot, can’t recommend it enough.

Pet friendly accommodation. Beautiful karoo farm with neat and cozy accommodation. Delicious dinner on the veranda with carol lamb and hot vegetables as Grandma would make it. Even though it was taxing, our hostess spoiled the teenagers with marshmallows and candles under the Karoo stars. Thanks for the nice night, Chante!
From the moment we got there everything was just better than we expected. The cottage had everything we needed and so much more. The attention to detail was really very good. The dinner and breakfast were prepared with great effort and delicious. The swimming pool was a pleasant surprise and the children really enjoyed it.

Zeekoegat Plaas is a little off the beaten track, as we say in English, between the Karoo villages of Vosburg and Carnarvon. But it's 100 percent worth it. The accommodation is in an old stone house: it's neat and stylish, and you look out onto a hill right behind you. Then there is the legendary Karoo hospitality - a drink on the stoep before dinner, which is the most amazing farm food, with a sophisticated twist to it. After dinner we lay on the day bed and star gazed, the likes of which you can never see in the city. And the silence... All you hear is the wind through the eucalyptus trees, and then every now and then a sheep bleating. Next time I will stay much longer than just one night!
