This rondavel has the most beautiful view and location. It overlooks a beautiful river and mountains. The rondavel is nice and secluded and away from other people so it's private. It is the perfect place to come and switch off from the everyday hustle and bustle. For the more adventurous, the mountains are there to climb, so bring your hiking boots and hat. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
Perfect if you want to get away from the business and noise of the city and prefer nature to luxury. A bit caught off guard by the absence of a fridge but made a plan with the freezer. Facilities a bit neglected but the scenery and beautiful walking trails more than make up for it.
Although we didn't have power, the owner made sure we had enough flashlights. And enough wood for the donkey. And a gas freezer.
I will book here again on my next trip through the Eastern Cape. The median of the main road to Amanzi Empilo was high for my flat car, but by driving carefully you can get there.
This little rondavel was heaven. No internet, solar power and a view to die for! And one can keep fit in many different ways.
This was my second visit.
We had a really great stay at the bungalow which has everything you need..The 'donkie' showers were amaze and the peacefulness of just sitting and relaxing was heaven..Just remember Rhodes has no diesel.
Bungalow has everything you need. Very friendly host.The best accommodation in Rhodes. Value for money. In my opinion the only place to consider in Rhodes for accommodation.
This was an absolutely incredible experience. Perfect location, with an indescribable view. Although the unit did not have power, everything was perfectly appointed - regardless of the cold. Solar lights, gas heaters, thick blankets, donkey for hot water. It was the perfect family getaway. Board games by candlelight. We would go again anytime!
Words will not be able to describe this experience. It was absolutely wonderful in such an unspoiled part of our country. We will definitely visit again and again.
Rustic rondavel, very comfortable, a bit short of kitchen equipment, but good cooker and gas heater. Wonderful situation. Lighting equipment gave a few problems.
Really a very nice and quiet place, no one to bother you, just the beauty of nature! Very nice place to stay.
The bungalow is comfortable, clean and just nice. The path to the bungalow is suitable for tall vehicles, an ordinary car will struggle, also the steps from the car parking to the bungalow are for fit people because it is steep. Furthermore, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend it. Surroundings are beautiful and peaceful.

Amanzi Empilo Bungalow was fantastic! The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful. Break away from everything: TV, phone and people were wonderful. Just the charging of my camera's battery was a challenge without power. Recommend the place and the people of Grace Hill farms with love.
It is a beautiful place and the surroundings are very beautiful. We really enjoyed Naude's Nek pass. Hostess was very kind and has the delicious cookies she sells in the shop. The "bungalow" is beautiful and well equipped. With the fact that there is no power, one can enjoy the silence and nature much more.
Very neat and quiet for those who want to escape the city. The bungalow with its views of the river and mountain give such a sense of peace and privacy that is not easy to find. The facilities are perfect for one's needs - solar lights, gas and a donkey for hot water. If I could upgrade something it would be the shower head. Sitting on the patio overlooking the mountain, river and sheep is something you don't get to experience every day.
It's the ideal getaway for a family willing to share an open-plan rondavel with a double bed and bunk beds. It's a challenge to master the solar lights and the donkey for hot water, but it works! In the end, a wonderful bonding experience. The farm shop has everything you need from roast beef to biscuits. The surroundings are fairytale beautiful, with the clearest stars and the only noise is the babbling of the Bell River stream.
Just what a tired person needed. Beautiful view of the Bell River with the roaring stream in the background. The owner was very helpful and we would definitely like to visit again.
A very well located facility that is clean and tidy. Unfortunately, the carport spoils the view and poor lighting spoils the overall stay. The fact that there is only a freezer facility is also problematic.
Very few words can describe this experience and we will go back again next year. Surprise on surprise for miles on end in nature which is amazingly pretty. Hilton, Sunelle, Sean, Marie, Rick, Dave, Lee and all the other fantastic people, thank you.
We were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and fine taste of our host and wife! All amenities were there and modern with gas and solar power. We appreciated the lovely silence and fresh air and will go again!
What a lovely honeymoon! Peaceful, remote and beautiful! Truly self-catering, enjoyed firing up the donkey for hot water. The place is well equipped against the cold and everything works! The gas and solar power add to the romantic atmosphere. Would suggest deckchairs so that one can watch the stars and maybe even get a telescope that one might hire. The stars are really incredible!
Wonderful scenery with hospitality that you only get in a small midland town. I can recommend it without any doubt.
The drive here prepares you for the seclusion, peace and beauty of this world. The location of this cabin makes you part of nature immediately. There are no frills here, but you don't miss anything. Everything you need is provided. Hot water and spotless bedding make it a lovely experience.
We really enjoyed the time in Rhodes. The stay at Empilo was wonderful. We love the silence, beautiful views and the spacious indoor and outdoor area. The stove from the donkey and solar lights give such a farm atmosphere! A mountain hut thousand.
