The cosy cottage comprises 2 bedrooms and a shared bathroom. The main bedroom is furnished with a queen-size bed and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower. The second bedroom is located in the loft and is furnished with a double bed and two twin beds, making the cottage ideal for a small family with children. For convenience, all linen and towels are provided.
The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, a gas stove, as well as a fireplace, and meals can be enjoyed at the dining table. The cottage also has a cosy sitting room. There's no electricity supply to the unit so you can enjoy the romance of candles.
The living area opens onto the covered verandah which has a built-in braai area and overlooks the beautiful surrounds. Firewood, a braai-grid and fire starters are provided. Cellphone reception is not available in the cottage, but one can find it a few metres from the cottage.
Guests can go for long walks, mountain biking, and enjoy sundowners at a nearby lookout point which offers a 360-degree view of the Overberg. For those who want to explore, Bredasdorp, Malgas, and the De Hoop Nature Reserve, are all within a 50 km drive for outings.

Definetely something for everyone to experience at least once. Thank you to the owners for their amazing hospitality. We loved every moment. Cleanliness and convenience of an "excellent" class. Breaking away from your ordinary day-to-day life in this manner definitely does wonders for the mind, body and soul.
Very quiet and peaceful. Clean linen. Solar power works well while the sun is shining. Gas geysers work well. Ideal to switch off a bit. Watch out for mud, we got stuck. There was an alternative route.
We have been to Appelkooskop Cottage more than once. There is no cell phone reception (that's great!) and it's very peaceful, quiet, and private. The place is very nicely decorated!
The far-away-from-it-all feeling that is just needed to switch off can be found here. Not a light or road in sight. Beautifully furnished with everything and more necessities available, and the small detail that does not go unnoticed. Communication before and during was great. Although luckily there is no cell phone reception (big win!). Definitely want to relax there again one day.
The cottage was the perfect place to switch off. It's great that there was no signal (there is catchment a short distance from the house if you need it). Although there is no electricity, the solar panels were enough to recharge phones. There is also a nice gas stove and hot water to shower with (the pressure is just a little low). I usually get cold easily, but this was not a problem at all, the bedding was nice and warm and there were also hot water bottles available. It was lovely to have the field around you and just to hear the sheep, birds and frogs. The braai place is also excellent. We will want to go there again!
Perfect getaway destination. Didn't see a single bit of civilization for three days and enjoyed a lovely long weekend in nature. House is very neat and even better equipped than I expected. Would definitely recommend.
The solar panel lights were just enough to help us in the dark with what we needed and the cottage had all the necessary amenities except a pair of scissors which we also naturally forgot. The shower's water pressure is not amazing, but at least the water is hot. I was also slightly frightened by the snake outside, but what do you expect so deep in nature? Just watch out for Google Maps' pin for the location. The poor farmer just shakes his head and laughs for the number of times when the city lads stop and ask - dear Mr, which way, we can't find the cottage!?
The cottage was very clean and tidy, is extremely well equipped for self-catering and has a lot of character. The location is nice and secluded and private. The owners were extremely hospitable. We can highly recommend this cottage for people who will appreciate silence, tranquility and the beautiful surroundings.

My stay at Appelkooskop was really magnificent. The location was in the heart of nature, far away from everyone and anyone. The no cellphone coverage was a blessing. The cottage was fitted with all the basic items one would need to make your stay comfortable. The basic goods like your teas, coffees, and some homemade biscuits was lovely. I brought my own bottled water and would recommend travellers brings some milk with if they need to use it. There is sufficient wood for braaing outside, and the bed utensils needed are available. There was some nice books and magazines to page through and nice trails to take a stroll. This is a place I will certainly visit again.
Nice area if you are looking for silence and rest for the soul.
Nalise was incredibly helpful and accommodating in arranging a very last minute booking. The cottage itself is a perfect haven of peace and quiet. It's wonderfully secluded and private, yet still within easy driving distance of amenities and the coast, so you get the best of both. Struggled to leave. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We had such a good time, we were sad to leave. There is so much to do, walk, visit, birdwatching to take fantastic nature photos. Place was very clean and the pampering made us feel at home immediately. The sheep and calves grazing around the house were so peaceful. Come back soon.

Fantastic location, beautiful cottage with basic equipment, no electricity or mobile network, excellent bed. Can be reached with a non four-wheel drive, but this might become difficult during rain. We enjoyed it a lot!

Stay was pleasant and is ideal if you like absolute silence and solitude. Enjoyed it a lot. Place lends itself to short visits 3-5 nights maximum which involves water supply.

Could properly switch off from the everyday rush and technology. Walked for miles, barbecued and rested. House is very well equipped, you can only pack food and clothes. Awesomeness.
The house was beautiful and all the amenities were available. I loved the fresh cows milk in the fridge as well as the red wine that we received upon arrival. We were forced to figure out how to live without electricity and it was an adventure! I can’t wait to go back.
The place is definitely not for people who can't go without mobile phone reception. It is the ideal place to escape the rest of the world and to just relax with a beautiful view of the scenery. Will definitely be back.

The weekend was wonderful. The ad could perhaps (perhaps we missed it?) just mention that mobile phone reception is limited so that people are not caught unprepared. Nothing serious, just good to know. The host provides much more than just the usual items, which are worth mentioning, for example ample firewood, bottle of wine, biscuits, fresh milk, etc.
A wonderful place, neat and comfortable, even if there is no electricity. Not even cell phone reception. A great option for those who just want to be quiet and peaceful, staring at nature. No WiFi, thank goodness, just the miraculous rays of the healing sun. We even got a little rain! This caused great fun with opening farm gates and pools of water. Time stands still and one draws energy from nature and the lovely clean air. I can highly recommend it.
Very nice stay and can definitely recommend it to someone who just wants to get away to silence and do nothing. Beautifully restored cottage with decor that compliments. It was an unforgettable weekend from start to finish. Apricot head is something special, and all the little extras really make you feel welcome. Definitely worth a visit!
Great location, character of the cottage makes it the perfect romantic getaway. Every thing you need is there. No people for miles, no cell phone reception and dinner by candlelight around the fireplace makes this the perfect city escape. We would go back there any day.
Comfortable and very safe.
Apricot Head can only look at the stove or fridge that may be leaking gas. However, this does not make the experience weak or unpleasant.
