Very friendly reception. Quiet and peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Good TV and WiFi.
The guest house is really value for money compared to other places in the area. There are carpets in the rooms and electric blankets for those chilly evenings. A lovely porch to sit and drink coffee.
The driver helped us so nicely in terms of directions to the wedding destination due to poor signal in that whole area and still load shedding. The breakfast was delicious, room was neat.
We stayed in the self-catering cottage at Arum Hill Lodge, which was very spacious with a well-equipped kitchen and a large en-suite bathroom with a bath and a shower. The location allows easy access to most areas, although it is a dirt road. We had beautiful views from our cottage over the hills. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Very neat and clean and good location. No standby electric power, so "loadshedding" can be a problem.
The location is good for the area. All attractions are in fairly easy reach. The room was tidy but looking a bit tired and starting to show signs of deterioration. No new capital is injected here and it is probably pretty much hand to mouth. The "lock downs" hurt the places. Eskom's load shedding does not help either. There is no backup power at the location. TV channels are limited. We like sports, so were a bit disappointed. You just adapt. The suite was nice and spacious. The breakfast was included in the price and was really tasty. The bed is comfortable and at least decent. The host was very helpful and hospitable. The food at the restaurant was very good and the restaurant neat and "presentable". There are some other "dives" that were not so great. The Italian restaurant, La Lampara, was expensive. Sorry, the Abingdon Cellar is only open at weekends. The other wine farm is still coming up. The "Wine Cellar" has a very large selection of Cape wines, but the layout put us off. Very dilapidated. Not really uniqueness. However, the owner had good knowledge of wines and was very friendly and hospitable. However, we did not stay. Mostly restaurants and coffee places and trinket type things to do. There is some adventure, but as a destination I don't think the area is that great. The 18-hole golf course at Gowrie Farm will be an asset. There are also a few microbreweries. Not bad, but you can only taste so much beer. There are some cheese places etc. Then there is Trebadore Koffie which was nice.
We appreciated the lovely surroundings and all the amenities that were available. Making our own wood fire in the evening and having a restful sleep all added to our enjoyment. The breakfasts were tasty and well prepared. Thank you!
Beautiful guest house with a very nice view, host is also very friendly and pleasant.
The new owner (apparently only there 3 weeks) Luke was very on his nerves, but with time I believe he will be a fantastic host. We really enjoyed it, had a wonderful overnight stay and will definitely visit Arum Hill Lodge again next year during our son's rugby at Michaelhouse.
Sorry that loadshedding inconvenienced us a few times.
Not much to add, just a beautiful restful place in a wonderful setting with beautiful surroundings.
Spacious, comfortable bed, nice view, clean.
Mark was an excellent host following up and confirming details before our arrival. He even borrowed his own car for us to fetch take away food at a restaurant as we were on motorcycles. Breakfast was phenomenal and Mark had a fore going when we arrived as it was quite cold. Will return anytime and will highly recommend Arum Hill.
The rooms are big which is good. The linen cover especially pillows have to be changed. Since there are made of feathers there are no longer comfortable to lean on. Carpets have to be vacuumed for people with sinus like me. Otherwise everything else is good.
See the stars.
Location was perfect, clean, comfortable, friendly atmosphere, well maintained, breakfast was good, lots of hot water, could have been better signposted from the road but we know the area and found it easily enough.
Friendly and wonderful surroundings!
Ronel catered for all our needs and we were pleasantly surprised at the standard of accommodation. It is great to still get value for your money.
The location is very good with a fantastic view.
