At Whale-Phin Guest House is built on three levels, the owners occupy the top level. The centre level consists of three en-suite bedrooms, dining room and balcony. Two rooms with a beautiful ocean view have exit to the balcony. All rooms are fully equipped including TV’s, tea and coffee facilities and a mini bar. The bottom 2 rooms, with garden entrances, are self-catering units, also used for B&B, both have ocean views and direct access to the sun deck.
At Whale-Phin Guest House offers you wireless internet, e-mail, fax and credit card facilities. We are close to two good restaurants, one with its traditional Afrikaner cuisine and the other restaurant perfect for fine dining. A free shuttle service is available to some of the restaurants in town.
We are situated 14km from Mossel Bay town centre, 25km from George airport, 95km from Knysna and 82km from Oudtshoorn. This makes Whale-Phin the ideal base from where to discover the Garden Route.
10km from Whale-Phin you can enjoy a game safari on a private game reserve. Meet the great white sharks in their own environment while shark cage diving. In whale season, July to November, take the whaleboat and go up to 50m from the friendly ocean giants or just cruise around Seal Island with it’s 2000 plus seals. Mossel Bay is also known for the water sports and its clean and safe beaches. Also enjoy horse riding, hiking, bungy jumping, 4x4 and quad bike rides. If you are tired of all this take the day off, relax on the beach or just do nothing.

We had a great stay and were kindly received. Everyone was very helpful together and made us feel like one big family.
Neat and clean guest house. Joy and Louis are excellent hosts ─ friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.
Uncle Louis and Aunt Joy are the dearest and most wonderful people, we immediately felt at home. Uncle Louis makes the most delicious breakfast! We felt so pampered with cookies and rusks and chocolates in our room. They came to call us to watch the whales from the deck! We received much better service from the uncle and aunt than we have received from 5-star guest houses or a lodge, the apartment and room are much more equipped and comfortable than the 5-star guest house where we stayed in Wilderness. We will definitely go again.
Nice sea view to experience changed weather to Mossel Bay. Guest was very friendly especially when doing laundry when it rained like that. This self catering is just too small to fit everything in and braai facilities are chaotic, really need to be upgraded.

Although unusual, I like to book self-catering accommodation if I need to travel for work. The "Lavender" unit is ideal. Well equipped for a quick meal with crockery, cutlery, microwave, two-plate stove and small oven, kettle, etc.) A table for work (and eating) and a sea view with beautiful garden where birds nest. Exactly the change in environment needed to stimulate creative and productive work.

Stayed one night at WhalePhin. Beautiful location. The location is wonderful with an unforgettable view of fynbos and sea. The breakfast was top notch.

Louis and Joy is a super friendly couple with their adorable dachshund and cat. Everything was so neat and the view from the room, living room and balcony is breathtaking. We slept with the sliding door open at night, but closed it later due to the "noise" of the waves! LOL! Beautiful birdlife around the house. Breakfast the next morning was 5 star+! We will definitely go stay there again and definitely for more than one night next time.

The accommodation is comfortable, quiet with everything you need. The place is perfect to switch off from the day's work. It's wonderfully quiet, but completely close enough to George and Mossel Bay to be able to work there, but spend the night away from the noise. With the option to cook for yourself or eat at a restaurant, I find the place to stay ideal. This time I went to eat in Hartenbos one night (lovely restaurants close by) and had a takeaway in the room the other night. Breakfast was delicious! The "road food breakfast" when I had to leave early was top notch! Thank you very, very much.

We were received very hospitably and treated all the time. It's very peaceful and you can relax 100%. Breakfast is delicious! A lot of effort is made. I recommend any couple or single person to spend the night there. We were there for 3 nights and would definitely go again.
The noises of people moving around the house are something to get used to, but it's minor, and overall we had a nice time!

Very friendly and helpful people. It is clean and tidy. There is a nice view of the sea and the birds that frolic in the garden and come to eat at the bird bowls. The breakfast is tasty and nicely served. It was very nice to experience the farmer hospitality there.

Beautiful view and neat rooms with good location.
We stayed in the Lavender room and it was nice and big and had a microwave, fridge and kettle which is great for us as we were travelling with our infant. The views are absolutely stunning and Joy is a wonderful lady! My only criticism is that there are rooms above this room as well as next to it and you can hear all the movement upstairs as well as people talking in the room next door.

The place is nice but very narrow for 2 people + luggage(not enough space) and as the breakfast room is in front of your door, no one can sleep longer then 7. very nice view!! for people who like a familiar atmospehre
