It was quiet and peaceful, just what you need for a break from the city.
We really enjoyed Baardbos, the swimming pool was a big plus.
Delightfully off the beaten path. As busy as Stilbaai and Jongensfontein get in December, it is as peaceful at Baardbos. The field is beautiful, the place of residence is spotless and the rest is wonderful. We slept like rocks. The facilities are basic but still good value for money.
A great welcome and friendly advice from the owners. Thank you, much appreciated. The cottages are well situated to enjoy the game viewing from the balcony. Plenty of varied game to view close up and others which require walking the farm. We enjoyed it. Other attractions are the lapa under the trees equipped with everything except food for night time.
The chalets are simple but incredibly clean and tidy. We had everything we needed for our 3 night stay and were very comfortable. The shower is hot and the water pressure is nice and powerful. If you are looking for a real get away, without the constant distraction of e-mails and phone calls, this is the perfect spot. Enjoy walks, a game drive, braai under the beautiful big sky, take a dip in the pool and just relax. It is not too far to drive to the ocean either. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and very accomodating to any needs we had. Lots of animals to watch and photograph. It was a great retreat.
The porch will have to be half closed from the wind so that one can sit there when it blows. It's not really a "game reserve", it's a plot with some zebras and springboks on it. You cannot walk or drive on the plot, the ostriches may be dangerous. If the porch is closed on one side and half of the front, it can work. If the houses are moved under the trees where the wind is still it will be very nice like the caravan standing there.
If you are looking for a place where no one will bother you, this is the place for you. The fact that there is absolutely no signal provides the necessary break from technology and hustle and bustle of life. The houses are beautifully neat and clean. It's so nice to see the wildlife (and other animals) around you, unfortunately the weather didn't play along for a game drive, but hopefully we will continue here again and we can then enjoy it.

Our reception was warm and very welcoming. Although the cottages are small, they are very well equipped and you have everything you need. To regularly see goats, ostriches and zebras grazing so close is truly a privilege. Even the little turtles feel safe and calmly walk by often. Our stay there was really a pleasant break in a cluttered outside world and without the distractions of mobile phones and computers a real rest in nature. Many thanks to the owners for this piece of safe accommodation.
There is little shade to visit during the day. Just wanted to know in advance that there is no cell phone signal.

Baardbos Private Game Reserve is a beautiful place, located just outside still bay on the way to Jongensfontein. It is picturesque with springbok and other wild animals. The view from our chalet was beautiful. Will definitely come back again.
Ideal for a getaway in nature and to see antelopes up close. A nice, safe place to walk. Clean, tidy accommodation. Friendly, helpful driver.

We stayed there for 7 nights and the unit wasn't cleaned once.
The cottages are very small but sufficient for two people. The view from the houses is beautiful! The location of Baardbos is good as it is close to Jongensfontein and Stilbaai. The lack of signal forces one to come into contact with one's surroundings. The daily game drive is also very enjoyable. The cottages are fairly furnished but there are a few things that could be done to make it more comfortable such as space to hang clothes and a shelf above the bed to put things on. We really enjoyed our time there.
We stayed in Baardbos as this was the only available accommodation for our stay in Stilbaai to attend a wedding. The accommodation is very clean, but definitely not suitable for 3 adults. The manager, Hennie, was very friendly and willing to assist. We were looking forward to go on a game drive, but as there was no fixed schedules for game drives we could not fit it in. There is no cell phone signal on the farm and it was therefor difficult to change other appointments to fit in with the random game drives. Our experience would have been more enjoyable, so we recommend that you apply better schedules for your game drives. With the planned improvements this could become a great place to stay.
