Stay was amazing, rooms were cleaned and every day staff would come and clean the rooms and ensure our cups are clean.

Was a very nice place to stay. Felt safe when I got home that night. Everything was neat and clean and the customer service was very good. Very good location too.
We only stayed overnight, but it was lovely to relax on a comfortable bed, after a nice shower in front of the air conditioner.
Rooms are well equipped, except for the hairdryer, just pack your own. Breakfast can be requested at an additional cost. Friendly service with clean, stylish rooms. Cute little place that I could call 'home' for a week. I will definitely support Barklystraat Guest House again.

We were greeted by friendly staff, who went out of their way to assist us. Very neat, clean room - exactly as advertised. Centrally located, in close proximity to shops. Will definitely use Barklystraat Gastehuis again!
Everything was in place would just like a biscuit for morning coffee.
I had to remind one of the staff members to wear their mask. I also don't recall any of the other guests wearing masks. WIFI was out of order for the first day due to load-shedding related damage to the router, but it was promptly fixed by the next day. Once fixed, I found the WIFI fast enough for video calls. Also if you have a problem with second-hand smoke, I advise against this establishment as not far from my room, there's a smoking area that was thoroughly enjoyed by other guests at night, and the smoke seemed to get through my closed door and windows. Bedside-table lamps were not functional, but I'm sure that would have been rectified very quickly had I brought it up. Also, I suggest that given that Uitenhage is a drought-affected area, please put up signs that communicate this. On a whole though, and aside from the "mask" incident, I felt safe during my stay, and the parking seemed very secure. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. Thank you.

Barklystraat will get tired of me, was the best stay in a long time.
The staff is friendly and helpful. The guesthouse is centrally located, close to eateries and in an area with lots of trees. Our room was neat, clean and modern. My teenage daughter and I had to drive to our destinations early in the morning and late at night, but felt safe.
