Rustic but lovely spot! A real treat!
We had such a nice stay! There are of course little things that could be better. I would e.g. a list appreciated of everything that is in the cottage, because we came from a long way and had to pack heavily. There are e.g. Sunlight, a drying cloth and sponge, but no tea and coffee or soap. But it's so small. We had such a nice stay and the venue really made an effort with warm blankets on the bed, pans and pots. We could take our small dog with us and the bathrooms were really neat. I have to say, I didn't expect the houses to be so close together and the trees blocked the view a bit, but you could walk around it to enjoy a breathtaking view. It is not the most luxurious accommodation that Clarens has, but it was so worth it. Especially since we wanted more of a camping experience.
The Hunters Hut, small and cosy, met our need: we just wanted to spend the night there. A small fire in the fireplace and the cozy duvet added to the cozy atmosphere in the cabin. We had a great stay in the Hunters Hut.
We enjoyed it very much. It is a simple hut, but everything you need is there.
Perfect retreat from the city. Smooth process all the way. The cottage was very well supplied and clean, apart from specks of dust on frames and plugs. Enjoyed braaing and taking walks. We went horse riding and quad biking. Beautifully mountainous. Always have a winter freezer as backup. Beautiful weather during the day, but it does get nippy at dusk and early morning. Bath and toilet facilities were very clean, with hot water. Bedding very clean. Overall, the place was much more impressive than my first visit.

We would suggest that the toilet and shower doors be repaired so as to fit into the frame. It is quite a struggle to close/open these doors, and this results in loud banging every now and then.

The campsite is well maintained, with neatly cut grass, accessible power points and site services that daily remove rubbish from the bins and clean the braai area, as well as the ablution blocks. However, there are some small areas that definitely need improvement. The dirt road to the campsite, especially near the farmhouse, is badly rutted and difficult for a normal car to navigate without going very slowly over and over to stay out of the tire ditch - we struggled in a Ford Fiesta . A sign on the side of the road can more clearly indicate that drivers must keep to the right until the very end for the campsite. At the ablution blocks, the water pressure can be better controlled with a small pressure pump, especially when the site is full of campers, to prevent people experiencing a shortage of water - you can clearly hear your neighbor complaining

We had a wonderful stay. Mattresses are very uncomfortable, power and connections in the new large room are very dangerous. Power supply interrupted many times. Very nice place for quieter friends.

Bergwoning is unlike other holiday accommodations that I have booked through Lekkeslaap over the years. It is more like a 2-star place, as opposed to the 4-star accommodation which I expected.
When I arrived at the hut, it just smelled of smoke. I had to sacrifice a tin of deodorant to help remove the odour. The coffee station has all the necessary equipment to cook food with. To actually use them is not practical because it is a (coffee station). It would make sense to remove that equipment, or simply provide a larger table, which would be relatively inexpensive, but make a big difference to the user. The layout doesn't make sense. The campsite was very neat and well laid out. The view is spectacular, and at night the stars were amazing. From the brochure I would have thought you could hike from the campsite, but I discovered hiking on the mountain is not allowed because it's private property. The campsite is described as being on the farm. That was a huge disappointment. Not finding a hiking trail I drove down to what I think was the farm which is across the road, next to the Busstop. I found the place deserted. I found a worker who told me the place was closed. I could see a trail marked out but was unsure if I could use it as no one was there. This was at 3pm, and I had only booked in at 2pm. Maybe I picked a bad day, but there were no activities of any sort. I think a leaflet marking out where these trails are would be a very good idea. I chose rather to take a drive through the Golden Gate instead.
Bergwoning helped us at short notice. The room was clean but still dusty. The cutlery of poor quality and even more prices on the kitchenware. The unit is right next to storage rooms and looks very untidy. We had to stare at it during braai time. The surroundings are beautiful and had to walk around the house and storage rooms to see the mountain well.
It was incredibly beautiful! Very good location, beautiful area! Just an awful lot of ants, but that's just how it is in nature! Would definitely recommend! Stayed very cozy in the hunters hut and slept very well!

Donne and Martin were such attentive hosts. The campsite is beautiful, everything we needed and the little huts we stayed in were just so authentic to the area. Perfect glamping experience. We will definitely be back with the whole family.

Not value for money, but clean and well located. I recommend that you pay attention to detail. Cupboards, bedside tables, showers leak water, toilet doors cannot close etc. Will always enjoy the Clarens area.
No, we didn't. The bathroom door wouldn't close. The shower is very dark and small. The water did not work well. The upstairs room is very hot with no cooling.
