32 guests' feedbackThe two days we spent on the farm were fantastic. We were very friendly and well received by the owner. We also enjoyed our privacy on the campsite. The dogs were very friendly, especially the big dog. He was our babysitter. We also walked down to the river and enjoyed the outside light. The area where the showers and toilets are, was clean and tidy. There were sufficient facilities for barbecuing. We had a good experience.
It was really nice at Blou Porselein. Cute little house with so many extras. Beautiful garden and I loved the sign that welcomed us. Nice and quiet! Children enjoyed their tractor ride out holes.
Neat farm with nice hiking trails.
We loved the place, was beautiful and peaceful. Only downside was that there are a lot of flies, but you can prepare for that prior to your stay by buying lots of Doom and those old school fly traps and limit any unnecessary open doors.

No not really. The house is beautiful, nice old farmhouse, but everything inside is trashed, neglected and uncared for. The kitchen does not have the best crockery, the microwave oven is old, large and very neglected. The bedside lamps were not plugged in at all, and my sister's room's wall plug was broken, so she could not plug in the bedside lamp at all. The one room's mattress was also bigger than the bed itself, luckily there was a 3rd room available in which one of us could sleep. There were warm blankets in the closets, but they were not on the beds, and seeing that the Cape had the storm of all storms, the warm blankets could have been put up for us, because it was very cold. We were welcomed with a lovely fireplace, but the wood was just in an old fertilizer bag, so it was a bit of an afterthought. There is no love and care in the house. The front door was very swollen and it took quite a lot of strength and courage to get it open. At one point we thought we were stuck, and there was no cell phone signal to call the hostess. It's a shame, because guest farms like that would make me not want to stay on a farm again, and I don't think all guest farms are the same.
It was a weekend of storms, but the owner let people camp in broken tents in his farm shed on Saturday night. Thank you for your hearts.
We were the only campers there on our weekend so we had the choice of where to camp on the lovely grass camping site. Everyone involved in running the hospitality business and the farm is very friendly and accommodating. Carel the owner is so unselfish in offering his time to show you around this lovely farm and answer all your "stadsjapie" questions and his son the equally friendly and accommodating Eckhart even offered us a ride on the combine harvester, which is a rare privilege for a city kid. Back to the campsite, lovely green grass, neat showers and a shared kitchen, a place to charge your cellphone. In the daytime, the vistas of the distant mountains over the Swartland farmlands are a balm for the stressed out and at night the distance from the city means beautiful night skies. It's a great place if you need to just get away for a few days from the rat race stimulating but peaceful all the same.
It was great to get away for a bit, I thank Theresa for her hospitality me and my lover. Will come back there anytime.

There is little to do on the farm. Fortunately Riebeek Kasteel is nearby.
Was slightly disappointed with the cottage. Rusk jar was empty, no salt and pepper, etc. You got the sense that it had not been prepared for visitors. A little run down, but has huge potential, if a few niggly things got fixed. Owners and their dogs very friendly and that was great.
Little niggles that bothered me were that the house's kitchen was not 100% clean and the braai facilities needed attention. With loadshedding there was also no water available, on arrival it was not mentioned. The river and nature did make up for everything.
We had a great and enjoyable stay at the farm. The host took us out to the farmland, showed us the crops and gave us the history of the farm. It was an educational experience for the young ones including the adults. Amazing to see the chickens laying eggs, the wheat crops, the cow feed, the table grapes, springboks running at sunrise and most all swimming and having fun in the dam was a bonus with the tube. Thanks to the host for a special and memorable stay. We will visit soon.
My partner and I slept in Blou Porselein 2, which was very spacious and neat. Very fresh, clean and well prepared. Lots of thoughtful treats like fresh fruit, rusks and tea. Good WiFi and TV too. A lovely antique bath and a huge shower in the bathroom. Lots of pillows, cushions, fleecy throws and a duvet which will take care of any chills on the comfy bed. It is a working farm so it was nice chatting to Theresa's husband about farm activities. They are excellent hosts, very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The boss of the farm, Kwagga (the dog) made sure that he had an eye on us. We highly recommend this place to all those looking to get away from the rat race and recharge, or get active along the trails or in the river. Thanks to Theresa and crew for a great stay.
Safe space with the most helpful and friendly visser family to assist with any need. Tranquil and serene atmosphere. Had a blast. Child friendly and had Kwagga who looked after us at night while sitting by the fire. Thank you for being so welcoming.

The farm is picturesque and an excellent place for a quick weekend getaway - not too far from Cape Town. The farmhouse is well equipped and has absolutely everything you need. There is enough play space for small children, and the river is far enough that you can keep an eye on them.
Beautiful clean facilities. We had a great stay and rested. The dry wood for braai was a bonus. Kwagga, the dog, was everyone's favorite.
Theresa and her family were amazing hosts! They went our of their way to make sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable and more. The farm is beautiful and we particularly enjoyed walking on the farm with its spectacular mountain range views. We explored the surrounding area during the day: Olive tasting, visiting excellent coffee shops in Tulbagh and Riebeeck Kasteel, doing various walks, climbing Die Waterval, learning a bit about farming in the area, and the workings of Karel's enormous combine harvester! There would be wine-tasting on farms in the area too when not under lockdown restrictions. Lastly, you must buy some of the farm's fresh eggs "Eggart's" to take home.
We had a great time at Blou Porselein. It's very peaceful, the house we stayed in is very nicely furnished and has everything you need. Had a nice cycling route that is not too long, but at least makes you feel like you burned off the extra food. Most important was that our boy was busy all weekend fishing, "exploring" as he calls it, and playing around the farm. Fortunately, there were friends for him. Theresa and her family are very friendly and go out of their way to help where they can. Will definitely go again.
Fresh apricots and flowers welcome you on arrival. A good getaway and centrally located even though it's on a farm. You can choose: Use the WiFi or say there is no signal.
What a pleasant surprise. Upon our arrival, Theresa her husband and their son met us and immediately made us feel at home. Their son immediately took my grandchildren under his wing and took them around the farm. Saturday morning my grandson and I had an absolutely amazing time by the river and he caught some nice fish. We will definitely visit there again.
We stayed in the Blou Porselein 2 unit which accommodates two. The large high-ceilinged space is made up of a main bedroom (which features a comfortable double and day bed, ceiling fan and two heaters, television and seating) a spacious bathroom with an amazing old bathtub and roomy shower, as well as a kitchen kitted out with the basics. Outside your door, you’ll find braai facilities and a generous amount of firewood provided by the friendly hosts. Mobile network reception is iffy around the homestead, so the free WiFi was much appreciated. We were offered fresh eggs from the farm chickens, and invited to make use of a little vegetable garden taking shape a short walk down the werf. There is furthermore ample space to walk or mountainbike on or around the farm to take in the beautiful views of the river and mountains. If you do however feel the need to get out, Riebeek-Kasteel and various wine farms are just a stone’s throw away.
Will definitely visit again, lots of fun for kids.
It really was a lovely few days away from the city and the hectic life. We really enjoyed the silence of the farm. The dirt road was in good condition and if our son is selected for next year's rugby tour we will not hesitate to go home to Blou Porselein again. Thank you very much!

Although Blou Porselein is a working farm it epitomizes relaxation. Stunning views. Friendly pets, fondly nicknamed Jumbo and Shorty, accompanied us on our walk to explore the farm. The unit was clean and draped in old world charm. Beautiful.
It's a great place to stay. You can take nice walks through the area. The house is neat and fully equipped. The people are very friendly and helpful. You would enjoy!
This is a spacious farmhouse that includes all the necessary facilities for a wonderful weekend with children and grandchildren. It's safe, there is a playground outside for children and a braai area. Please take Tabbard of Doom together: the mosquitoes abound along the river!
