If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place for you. Me, of course, a person who now likes a place like Boo-Boo's Nest - only the necessary must be there - will go again any time.

Very relaxing. Velore time caught up with family.
Dirt road was badly worn out due to the heavy rain when we went, but was pretty level scraped when we checked out. As mentioned on Boe Boe's website, fishing is not the primary purpose for your visit. We did catch 5 small largemouth bass and one small catfish, but no carp. Anky's amenities are basic but everything we needed as a family. Mobile phone signal for MTN and Vodacom is mostly unavailable (drive upstairs near Louise-their house and you will get mobile phone signal), but got 3G data connection by moving mobile router until data connection works (tip: top shower 's wall works near roof, works well in Anky!) Hostess Louise is friendly and helpful and even bought us necessities when they went to town. "Winkeltjie" provides wood and ice only. This is the ideal place if you want to get away from it all, but you're going to stress if you can't do without data-dependent "devices". The sound of the water over the small waterfalls and rapids is heavenly if you sit outside during the day/evenings (almost sounds like the roar of the sea in the background). Very nice pool. The walking route is definitely a challenge with the river flowing quite strongly due to the lot of rain and involves at least 5 river crossing points. Not for older persons or very young children.
Great atmosphere by the river. Very peaceful, saw goats grazing at the chalet in the evening/night, it was very special. Can only pay more attention to activities available such as the putt-putt course.
Very nice and peaceful, walking route was nice, but the directions run out towards the end. Didn't expect to climb up next to the waterfall at all. Might just recommend a little snack. Other than that, we thoroughly enjoyed it.

On arrival we had to walk through the owner's personal barbeque and dining area to the office. It was asked that we should lie low on Saturday about people coming to hunt! Advertisement and photos are deceptive. Place is unkempt, lounge sofas dirty, bedding and curtains unkempt. Kitchen sink water runs out even before you have been able to wash the dishes. Toilets must be flushed from the front with a bucket because the pressure does not penetrate the toilet paper. Advertisement refers to dirt road suitable for ordinary vehicles - false, the road is very bad and the advertisement does not refer to the distance either. Advertisement refers to a donkey that provides hot water - just once a day! It was lit on request the next morning but by 9:30 we took a cold shower, packed up and drove. The owner was notified, just accepted and said the place was exactly as advertised. One would think that if your guests left after 1 night (11 hours after arrival) you would refund the people. R5200 for 11 hours and a cold shower. Would never recommend it.

Louise make sure that you know what to expect beforehand. The list of supplies she add to the package helps a lot. She is friendly and helpful and I will definitely tell people about this place.
We were able to really switch off and recharge batteries after a long and busy year. Will definitely go back again. Not even the rain spoiled our time. It was just as wonderful as the rest of the sunny days.
Very nicely hidden between the gorges is this beautiful place. Nice and private with just a few neat cottages that guarantee a peaceful getaway time. The cottages offer the basic facilities, not luxury, but everything you need, but nice and spacious. The walking route along the riverbank is indeed a challenge, but is so enjoyable and the scenery is perfect. Would definitely recommend Boeboe's Nest for a nice peaceful getaway.
Definitely the best place to recharge the batteries if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle a bit. Boe-Boe's provided all the basic necessities and Louise was a perfect host.

From the time we arrived we were greeted by Louise, then to our amazement two herds of antelope came to eat at the office, the experience was truly majestic. I have already rebooked, a getaway like this can never have a monetary value put to it.
We had a very pleasant holiday, great for kids and adults. This is my second time I have been here and I really enjoyed staying at the river chalet ─ lots of privacy.
Boe boe's Nest is a beautiful place with beautiful natural beauty that surrounds you. The places to stay have everything you need with a lovely swimming pool, hiking trails, fishing and just sitting back and relaxing. The river creates such a peaceful atmosphere. We were sad to have to go home.

We had a very nice and peaceful visit and the children really enjoyed themselves, especially the swimming pool with slide. Louise was very pleasant and always ready to help. The River camp in which our group stayed was well equipped and very clean. The only criticism I can add is that the place has a lot of potential and could perhaps be upgraded a bit. Other than that, Boe-Boe's Nest is really a very nice place for a quiet getaway.

A place where you can go to relax. Quiet and no noise, all you hear are the birds and animals around you. Here my son marveled at the stars, cattle, goats, grasshoppers, birds, centipedes and the bugs. We had a great time cooling off in the beautiful clean pool. The Staphuis was neat and clean and everything we needed was there. Now my child also knows how a donkey geyser works! It really is a home away from home. The people there are so friendly! I would advise anyone to go there. Thank you very much Louise, it was a wonderful weekend!

Boe Boe's Nest is truly worth the money to go there for rest. Very friendly reception by the owner and always ready and helpful. I called late afternoon about a leaking water pipe and the owner herself was there to take care of the problem and within minutes she was there to repair the pipe. Top service.
We had a great stay in a comfortable house with a nice fireplace. Heaters were provided and the place was well equipped. The nice big fridge is a bonus. During the day the birds sing around the chalet and some even come up to the threshold. The dinosaurs are popular among the kids and for summer there's a nice swimming pool close to the waterfall. The slate groove is also interesting to see!
It was a very nice weekend, only a pity the river and waterfall were dry but what a beautiful place. I really recommend it and will definitely go back. Thank you for the hospitality. Just a suggestion maybe? A shop on the premises, it's far from everything and one usually forgets to take something with.

A very nice relaxing place to stay. It was nice not to have or have little signal, no television so we enjoyed a very relaxing weekend. Enjoyed some good fishing, and family time. We would recommend Boe-Boe's Nest.
They really need to upgrade the facility, the kitchen floor literally almost gave way under us when we walked, because it's wood and if you do not maintain the wood it will crack and become unstable. We didn't have enough blankets in our room only one, we had to take the bedding from the 2 single beds, the fridge stood so unstable that if you would open it to fast of a little to hard it would move. I hope it was only our location that we stayed in that was like this, it was a very nice place it just needs one of 2 things in order to make it great.
Once again it was a pleasure staying here. Great scenery and the running river made it all worth our stay. Louise was very friendly and helpful! Would recommend this place to anyone just needing a getaway. Will be revisiting again for sure. Well worth the 700 km journey we made.
Wonderful place to relax at.
The chalets are very neat and well furnished. The fish didn't want to bite now, but I'm sure these will bite better when it's a little warmer. There are a few hiking trails that one can embark on. This makes the stay more interesting, because you walk on the farm and can then see all the slate and also where they mined. Many different bird species and the nature is picturesque. Have fun.
Louise gave us the best accommodation by the river. We had a nice walk in the gorge and then cooled off in the pool. It was so nice and peaceful, we could have spent a whole week there! Thank you.
I would definitely go again if I need a quiet break from all the hustle and bustle. Unbelievably beautiful surroundings and the children really enjoyed it and that's nice. Children can communicate with parents because the signal is not so good for mobile phones, parents love that time doing things together.

Relaxing getaway for weekend without television.
It was nice except we were told that no pets are allowed and as we got there, the two people next to us had their small dogs with them. That's the only disappointment and there are no carp there, just a very healthy bass population.
Louise is a beautiful person and it's the place to breathe and be calm.
I would definitely recommend it. My children have learned to play outside again. The hiking trails are well worth doing. Louise is a wonderful hostess.
Upon arrival we were very kindly received. The last bit of paperwork was completed in a minute and the final payment was made. We were well explained how to get to the unit. Upon arrival, everything was neat, fresh and clean. The unit is cozy and big enough for two people but there are bigger units, all the accommodation rules and contact numbers were clear and easy to understand. We were very lucky not to be disturbed the whole time and were able to spend our visit there very privately and peacefully. I recommend any person who wants peace of mind to spend two or more days here to catch some fish or just quietly listen to the feelings and work through a book or two. Thank you very much for a good sleep and the owners of the land, we rested well and will see you again.
We were two families who spent a week there together. Although it was during the drought, it was very nice. Quiet and beautiful surroundings and a great time. The four boys enjoyed themselves and caught a lot of fish. We will definitely know Boe Boe's Nest visit.
The chalet was very comfortably furnished. Louise is very hospitable. The directions to Boe - Boe's Nest are misleading and not clear ─ especially if you have to find your way at night. The road is definitely not for LOW city cars.

Stayed with Anky. The place was very clean and tidy and slept very comfortably. Love the idea of the rooms/bathroom being one unit and the kitchen and living area the other. Would like the trees between the cottage and the river to be removed. We had to fish in another place. All the other units have fishing areas right in front of the units. The pool area is also very nice and the pool was beautifully clean. I would definitely recommend Boe-Boo's Nest. We will make a visit there again. Louise made us feel absolutely welcome and you can't get any closer to nature. The chalet was very clean and tidy. It's a nice place to fish with a nice view. We really enjoyed the different bird species. The pool is beautiful and the view is wonderful. There is a 3 km walking trail with the most beautiful rocks, wild flowers and stones. If you want to rest, go to Boo-Boo's Nest. We had a lovely time.

We were 4 adults in the Uitkyk Chalet for 3 nights from 15 to 18 December 2016. Uitkyk is located by the river some distance away from the other chalets, hence very quiet and peaceful. The chalet is somewhat rustic yet has all the basic necessities. The 2 fans were a blessing in the heat. Only downside was that there was no shaded parking.
This is a place to go if you just want to rest and relax and switch off from everyday life a bit. Only negative point of the weekend is that the beds are not very comfortable, but otherwise it is a wonderfully quiet, safe and peaceful environment / atmosphere.

This was one of the most amazing places I have been to. It is beautiful and peaceful. It is a place where you can truly feel like there is nothing that is pressing to be completed like in a city or a busy resort. The pool is amazing and the fact that the house we stayed in was looking over the river, really blew our minds. It is a wonderful place to spend as a family and it is well worth every cent!

Boo-Boo's Nest is a hidden gem. The accommodation was comfortable and earthy. The boys really enjoyed the fishing and walking and the swimming pool is great fun in the heat. Place is very nicely laid out. Ramkat was wonderfully spacious and private. Louise is very friendly and helpful and quickly makes you feel at home.
It is an ideal place to get away from the city's noise and bustle. The places are clean and tidy. What I would like to mention is that the places appear a bit neglected with little maintenance. Linen is very dated and needs attention. The planning around the placement of mirrors and power sockets was not thoroughly planned for blowing hair.
The Tritops Chalet is not big enough for four people as advertised. The table is opposite the bunk beds, otherwise you won't be able to pass to the bedroom. There are no hooks in the bathroom for wet towels. There is no place to hang your clothes. The stairs are too far and high apart and by the end of the day our knees were very sore and we didn't see a chance for two more days of torture. There is also not much to do apart from swimming. It hasn't rained yet, so the stream isn't flowing. We did enjoy the birds.
We expected more to do. It was incredibly hot and there wasn't really anywhere to get out of the sun. Our bed was so hard we had trouble sleeping. Maybe we just expected more than we got.
The children also enjoyed it very much. Thank you very much for the hospitality, we will definitely visit the farm again.
The nature is beautiful and the barbecue place on the river bank was so special. It really was a lovely break and it was an anticlimax to be back in the concrete jungle again.

The place is unkempt, bedding unkempt, electrical wires unkempt, toilet pathetic... The area where the TV was has no windows in it. The TV didn't work. The photos are VERY deceiving. When we said there was no storage space, they said the empty single bed without a mattress was the storage space. For the money we paid, I could have added a few rand and stayed in a neat place. We booked until the Monday but drove on the Wednesday. I suggest they mention on them that there are no windows in the TV area and that the TV is not working.
