Lovely location, easy walk into the village.
This cute and quaint cottage was perfect for me and my partner. The cottage is located right next to a small field where there are baby calves strolling around, and it was so pleasant to see. We enjoyed our stay at Bokmakierie Cottage very much, and we loved sitting on the patio and having dinner while looking at the beautiful garden and hearing the calves and crickets nearby. The host was really friendly, and we didn't have any problems regarding our stay.
Excellent value for money. The place is in the heart of McGregor and we had a great night there.

I enjoyed the warm, friendly hospitality. They kept in contact with me until I arrived, which was such a plus. The reception cannot be faulted. I had a delightful conversation with the owner, who enthused about McGregor. The accommodation was clean, neat and well-maintained. The only negative is the lack of secure parking for guests' cars. Having to park in the street is not what I believe any guesthouse should permit.
Our host was great, full of info and always around to assist if we needed him. A concern is our vehicle parked in the street, always a bit stressful. The braai area, although advertised, was not an offering. When looking at the pics of this cottage, we were drawn to the lovely open area in front of the cottage, but this is the owner's garden and not part of the cottage at all. That is not clear in the pics at all. We were a little taken aback when we saw the actual garden area of the cottage. A little disappointing.
Excellent unit and well located.
The cottage had everything we needed for our stay, including lovely touches like travel books and Jenga to play with our kids. We loved that it was pet friendly and we could bring our boy.

The hill to the dams was a winner with a beautiful view. The unit was fully equipped for our needs. McGregor is a peaceful, quiet town, perfect for relaxation.

We were pleasantly surprised by the tranquility that Bokmakierie offered. We wanted to recharge batteries and that's exactly what we could do. Wish we could have stayed longer. The place is very well equipped with everything you need. We will be back for sure. My only recommendation would be to maybe give the carpets a cleaning. Although it wasn't dirty, it smelled a bit like "wet carpet".

McGregor is a very beautiful town with a wonderful tranquility. Although it was cold we had a nice stay, but unfortunately the gas geyser ran out of gas. It would be appreciated if the hostess would receive us herself upon our arrival, but the host, Martin, was very friendly and helpful.
We were kindly received by the owner. The self-catering unit is on the owner's premises, behind his house on the erf. We had our own separate entrance. The car is parked in the street, which is far to the unit. This is inconvenient if you have a lot of stuff to unload or if it might rain. The unit was comfortable and clean for a pleasant stay. There was hand soap and hand cream in the bathroom. Tea, coffee and sugar were provided for a single drink, and fresh milk was in the fridge, as well as ice. The fan in the unit helped a little against the 34 degree hot weather. Parking was on the street, no light by your car, not even a shade tree for shade. One feels worried about the safety of one's car. There were a lot of mosquitoes, despite the owner's precautions of a mosquito net around the bed and a mosquito repellent in the wall plug. Bring doom with you. You could grill in a Weber, just bring your own briquettes. There is seating and a small table outside. There was free WiFi which worked well. We enjoyed our stay, despite the small inconveniences.
Good location, quiet neighbourhood. View splendid with beautiful sunset and sunrise.
Safety is a problem as guests' vehicles must park in the street outside the yard. Owner can make minor changes so that vehicle can be parked inside yard behind a closed gate. A braai area (built or detached) would also be an asset as there are no braai facilities for guests.
