100 guests' feedbackSmall. Cosy and very customer orientated.
The accommodation was top notch. Lovely place and peaceful. The game drive was amazing. Really enjoyed the animals.
The service was excellent, definitely value for money. Would recommend to anyone. The spa was top notch.
We really enjoyed it, everyone was friendly and helpful. Thank you.
Fantastic! It's absolutely worth it!
Had a great sleep. Rooms are pretty luxurious and well equipped.
Very nice stay, quiet and tidy. Almost hard to come back home.
Game drive with Luke Schoeman was outstanding!
Stay and service was top class. My recommendations would be just for the service at the restaurant. Service was a bit poor considering one had to wait nearly 20 minutes to be served.
I would recommend it for sure. Minimum 2 nights.
Bona Bona was a nice break in the middle of the week. Although it was a business trip, it felt like a vacation. The restaurant overlooks a watering hole and you can just relax and watch the animals come to drink water. The food was amazing. The restaurant's prices are also very reasonable.
Terrible noise 10m from our room, after hours on a weekend with a tlb. It was disturbing but otherwise a very nice stay. One understands that maintenance must be done, but during the week would have been more appropriate.
Fantastic! Lovely place!
It is truly a place to see, everything is clean and perfect, the staff are proud of what they do, no one's task is too small, the garden and surroundings are a feast for the eyes. The restaurant's food was delicious, reception is friendly and professional, the decor is incredibly beautiful. Thank you, Bona Bona for a wonderful stay, we will see you again and will recommend all our guests to you as well.
All that was bad at the time; we booked a Predators Drive in the morning for the afternoon, half past five, but the vehicle never arrived. We waited an hour and subsequently canceled our excursion. The children were quite upset, because they wanted to go and see the lions.
Terribly delicious, very beautiful and elegant. My sisters and I had a great time and felt very welcome.
What a blessed time we had at Bona Bona Game Lodge. From the incredibly beautiful interior design of the honeymoon suite to the food at the restaurant. We received fantastic service from the beautiful waiter called Sophy. The game drive was a treat from the beginning to the end. Will recommend this lodge any day. Thank you.
Just did not receive a WiFi password.
The stay was nice. The food was good and the game beautiful. The staff were friendly and helpful.
Great getaway away from the hustle and bustle. Well equipped with delicious food and fantastic spa.
Service in restaurant extremely, extremely slow but food well prepared.
Room was pretty clean. Spa was excellent. Very neat well maintained resort. Would recommend the stay.
Our visit to Bona Bona was very nice, but I would prefer to be able to drive around with my own vehicle to see the animals as there is not much to do at the lodge.
Will go back again when our 9 month old baby is 2 - 3 years old and he can enjoy a game drive. Excellent accommodation and restaurant.
The area and place are excellent, can really recommend.
Resort was comfortable and we could do nothing but relax. Service by the waiters could have been better. A nice touch at breakfast would have been to be offered coffee refills at your tables. Waitrons were often standing around and not clearing dishes that were empty. Jugs of fresh flavoured or bottled water would have also been most welcome. Reception staff lacks FAD and customer service. Food was great but stock shortages were a problem by Sunday evening. Game drive was good. Thank you to Luke, our guide, he was amazing. We will however be back again. Thank you.
Very quiet and tidy. Restaurant provides good service and good food. Interesting and detailed provenance history exhibited near deck area.
Bona Bona is a beautiful location and a lovely small game reserve. Our experience with the accommodation and food in the restaurant was not so good, unfortunately. When we checked in to our two rooms, Big Five Room 2 and Big Five Room 5, Room 2 was OK but had a steep, unbanistered staircase to the top floor room which was not suitable for our 3-year-old (this room needs a banister or hand rail for safety). Room 5 was beautifully renovated with the best private outdoor space which I was excited to stay in, with load shedding being an issue in SA, when we went to use the power sockets and they didn't work I presumed it was load shedding and we left the room to use the amenities. On return, I noted the power was still off in Room 5 and checked with Room 2 to find theirs was OK, so we told reception and they said it was too late at 5pm as the maintenance team went home for the day. The young receptionist was helpful and gave us Room 1 in the Big 5 for the night only but this room was sub standard compared to Room 5. She promised Room 5 would be fixed in the morning and we could go back to it then. Morning came and the room was not fixed! We agreed to wait until after breakfast and she would call us in the morning when it was ready, no phone call! We went back at 5 pm and they then said we couldn't go in the room due to drainage issues which was quickly retracted by management. I had had enough by this point and told the manager that we had been given a sub standard room overnight that was unacceptable and they should offer a goodwill gesture or pay us back some of the money we paid for room 5. She came back after discussions with management and insulted us with a R250 voucher for dinner in their restaurant, however, we spent a lot more on the rooms and in their restaurant and they could only offer us £12.50 compensation! Insult! Additionially whilst the gentleman manager of the restaurant was really great, the service from some of the other staff was poor and the prices high for the very small portions my partner had received on both nights. Also a big shock is the swimming pool which we did go to had the most disgusting green-brown water which is not reflective of a 4-star hotel, we used the poolside for sunbathing and playing our own cards mainly. This accommodation does not warrant a 4-star and reflects 3 stars only. Their spa facilities however deserves 4 stars as this was newly renovated and lovely. Big changes and better service is required here from the maintenance team being available, small things like offering bottles of complimentary water in the rooms for the 1st night, rooms being 100% inspected during cleaning before check-in and ensuring they are fully functioning, safety assessed in all rooms and amendments made, food portions reassessed for prices charged and some of the staff requiring further hospitality training to ensure they understand the value of servicing customers to a higher standard. Even just making sure they don't make customers feel like they are being demanding when actually it's simple courtesy and listening to reasonable customer requests. Definitely need to be classed as 3 star!
Staff are proudly South African, that's what makes it nice, very peaceful and relaxed, perfect for a family, it's not too far to drive. The spa was lovely and would go again.
Great location and accommodation and delicious restaurant.
The game drive was so fun, saw a lot of animals. There is a nice playground for small children. Restaurant was also fantastic, ate the most delicious oxtail. Will go again for sure.
Especially enjoyed the predators.
As we drove in we saw buffaloes. Was amazing. Place is clean and tidy. Food was delicious! Really enjoyed it, all that was bad was that it was too short!
Loved the peace and tranquil environment and saw a great deal of different game in a very short time that I was there without even going on a game drive. Will go back and stay longer.
Very pretty. Beautiful stay. Dinner and food very nice. Staff is very friendly. Really worth it. Game drive great.
Very very nice, will definitely go again.
We slept here on the way to the sea. Fantastic food. Unfortunately got grumpy staff the morning after the breakfast was not ready at the given time. But everything else was very good.
The accommodation and food were some of the best, will definitely go back again and again. Thank you Bona Bona staff, you are friendly and helpful.
Food, accommodation and service are excellent. Recommend that if you really want to be spoiled then add a game drive.
Very neat. Very luxurious. Staff very friendly, professional and helpful.
Top boss for a quiet getaway.
Exceptional value for money. Very worthwhile visit. Positive criticism, screen doors on chalets would allow natural air flow, while keeping the bugs and mosquitoes out.
Beautiful, attention to detail, absolutely stunning rooms.
Everything was most amazing except the ''predator'' game drive. It is sad from beginning to (no) end. We can't accept animals is kept in sub standard circumstances with no value add as to conservation and education. The only reason must be in bragging and rich peoples ignorance.
The Bona Bona workers were helpful and considerate, it's a really nice experience to sleep there, neat and clean. And the menu and meals of very high quality.
More suitable for an overnight stay than a holiday destination. I think a putt putt course is missing. The food is excellent!
Will definitely visit again.
Quiet, saw lots of wild animals, beautiful place. Restaurant is a must, lovely to hang out there. People are very friendly and helpful.
Incredibly beautiful and stylish rooms and infrastructure. The children's play area, restaurant with observation deck and swimming pool are special and new. The cleanliness of the lodge does lack focus. Drink and water bottles are around the pool and restaurant area. Our room's floor was not washed - with coffee marks on the floor and our towel had brown marks on it. This was all reported and was quickly fixed. Game drives are well priced. Can suggest this as an alternative to self-catering if traveling between Gauteng and Cape.
No security at night.
Will definitely recommend people to it. Great!
Going to stay an extra night next time!
Neat, kitchen and the fridge space is a bit limited, but otherwise there is everything you need. The woodland animals graze peacefully while you barbecue. Can definitely recommend it.
The early morning game drive was very pleasant with the perfect guide!
In summer little wildlife to be seen from the restaurant. In winter quite a lot.
Current builder is a bit burdensome, but when it is finished we will want to go again. Because improvements look nice.
Very neat, clean and prompt service. Would have liked bigger bath towels though.
Bona Bona was exactly what we needed. It is such a quiet and really a place to break away from the busy world. The only thing I would suggest to Bona Bona is to look at the beds. It's incredibly hard and my wife and I got up each morning with a sore body. Except for that, there was not 1 thing to complain about! Food and service are fantastic! Thank you very much!
I had a peaceful weekend. Everything was great.
Accommodation, meals and experience was perfect!
Reasonable restaurant prices, neat units, safe and quiet. We will definitely go again.
Very nice experience. Bona Bona is definitely the best in the area.
We had a very nice stay.
A fabulous place and the restaurant is the greatest part. Staff are friendly. The place is clean and neat. Just an absolutely wonderful trip.
Lovely linen, good breakfast and beautiful decor in a stunning bush environment.
Can recommend Bona Bona anytime. Friendly staff, great service. The predator feeding is a must do.
Nice and quiet and in beautiful location. Waterhole attracts a lot of animals. Really worth a visit. Nice restaurant.
We booked the Honeymoon Suite for one night only. The Honeymoon Suite does not have a view. The room and bathroom are very nice and clean. There is a small deck outside with two sun loungers. This deck and chairs were full of leaves and not swept. That's the only negative thing we experienced. The game drive and predator viewing were very nice and you see everything very close. The rhinos ate right next to us as we drank sundowners and ate dinner. Was a very nice experience.
Clean, friendly staff and safe. Would recommend it to even single moms with their little ones.
Would recommend Bona Bona any time. Very nice stay and food at restaurant is delicious. Enjoyed the game drive at 11 o'clock and saw so many animals. Rhinos, 6 of them stood near us and we watched as they were eating.
The meals and view at the restaurant were a highlight and the accommodation neat. We did experience the nature experience as commercialized. One can only enjoy the field and the animals up close by going on one of Bona Bona's game drives or by going to see the lions and predators in their camps - all this, of course, for a fee. It was sad for me to see the lions (and other predators) living in garden-sized camps. I would like to know from Bona Bona if there is any prospect of them being moved to larger areas (such as the camps in which the sables are kept for example)?
Relaxing and comfortable, restaurant's food is good. Bottled water in the room would be good.
I booked for my wife and my 12 year old daughter to go and relax a bit alone. Unfortunately, some municipality offered a workshop all week and they had to spend the early evening in their small room without a television. I would have appreciated it very much if Bona Bona had required that the municipality in question had to book out the entire lodge as apparently only a few rooms were not used by them, or that Bona Bona had at least informed me of the function.
The dishes were not properly cleaned. The breadboard still had some of the previous guests' cheese. Cigarette stubs were lying around at the outside table and braai area. Around the chalet is a corrugated iron (a danger to humans and animals), pieces of building waste and concrete. Not something you want to see if you want to be in nature. And it doesn't fit a 4 star rated Lodge.
A beautiful and tidy Lodge with incredibly tasty food and lots of wildlife to look at.
If you want to organize a weekend getaway, Bona Bona Game Lodge is the place for you.
We booked 3 rooms for the evening, on arrival we were greeted and shown our rooms, one room's door had a problem and they moved us straight away with no problems. We were in an executive room number one, everything in the room was fine, would only suggest upgrading the aircons and getting the ceiling fans to work, but nevertheless it was very nice. We went to have dinner in the restaurant, we sat for 2 hours and 5 rhinos ate right under our table, it was a special experience. The waiters and especially the manager were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Food is excellent! In the morning the goat grazes right next to your porch, it was delicious. We will be back again.
Friendly and competent staff contribute to making a stay at Bona Bona a wonderful experience. Rooms in the main camp very private and spacious. Perfect for resting and enjoying nature.
We enjoyed the weekend very much. The game drives and the predator experience were fantastic. Excellent guide! The family room is a bit small, but you do not spend much time in the room. Will definitely go again!
See stars.
Was perfect for need, but can imagine if staying longer that TV would be welcome. Had to open the bowls myself at breakfast and some of the food (salmon) didn't arrive until about 7:30.
Great location, very pretty and everything was neat. The only thing is the staff is very unpleasant and don't have good people skills. Won't recommend this.
The stay was very nice and had excellent customer service.
A proudly South Africa product! Will recommend anytime. Only issue I have is the tiger kept in a small cage close to reception We were very upset by the size of the cage and the fact that no water was available. There were two steel bowls in the cage but both were turned over. We love animals and this really upset me.
It was one of the best places we've ever been to, the people are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and neat, the game drive was nice and the women enjoyed the Spa a lot.
If all my good words were drops, you might have been washed away. The food, people, animals were all just nice. Even the rhinos worked together to entertain us at night. Thank you! Think about arranging a daily shuttle to and from Nampo, at a fee of course.
The rooms are a bit crowded for the amount charged to stay over night.
We will visit Bona Bona anytime again. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Delicious food at the restaurant.
See the stars.
The food was superb. The staff who answered the phone could maybe be trained better on how to correspond with customers.
The staff was very friendly and the lounge is lovely. I'm just refer tot the place where we slept - stables. Nothing was done to reduce the noise of the neighbouring rooms. You hear every word, you even hear your neighbours going to the toilet and what they do in there. No privacy at all. Unfortunately we ended up next to people who started talking at 04:00 in the morning (normal volume), but it woke us up. The neighbours on the other side was a very in love couple who made us a bit uncomfortable with their sounds. Bona Bona should do something to improve the privacy, soundproofing. I won't pay R1000 again for this kind of uncomfortable accommodation!
We have been to Bona before and it exceeded our wildest expectations. Everything was perfect. On our arrival this time there was a bit of chaos at reception due to the computer system that gave in. It remains a very beautiful place, clean and tidy and you can certainly be peaceful in nature. If you want to rest, you will definitely be able to relax here.
Staff went out of their way to make our stay great.
Stay was very pleasant and the food very tasty. However, on Monday we could not eat the food of our choice as it was not available. I believe it was because of all the day visitors. Will definitely visit the place again.
The giraffes happily eat the leaves of the tree tops outside your house. And the spa treatments were fantastic too! Bona Bona Game Lodge is a fantastic experience. Our own Tanzania in South Africa with all the beautiful wildlife.
With the short notice and the quick arrangements, Bona Bona was truly a superb venue. With the howling of foxes and the whisper of the wind, this place is a wildlife garden in your backyard. People are friendly and location is perfect for a weekend getaway.
The facilities are excellent. I was not aware that I needed a 4X4 vehicle for accommodation at Bushcamp, but the staff quickly made a plan and moved me to the Hunting Camp. Although it was already late, the staff made sure everything was in order at Jagkamp and even drove patrols there during the night. Very satisfied. Thank you.
Very enjoyable and the animal viewing from the restaurant was a bonus. The meals were very good and elegantly served. The room unit was also well equipped.
