We were delighted with the unexpected gem found at Border Hotel. The hotel is beautifully renovated and appointed with tastefully decorated rooms and crisp, quality linen, gowns, slippers and attention to detail with an olde world charm. Staff are friendly and incredibly helpful. We will recommend this overnight oasis to anyone that ever passes through Jan Kempdorp or needs to be in the area. Seven stars.
Wow, what a surprise that was. It was an amazing experience, room was above expectations, service was good and food top shelf.
We had a lovely stay at the Border Hotel. The room was incredibly spacious and tidy, the whole hotel is an unexpected oasis.
On the Internet the hotel looks very good, but get there and the reality is much better. Friendly reception, beautiful rooms, better than expected restaurant. It compares well with the best, not what one would expect from something in the countryside. Do give it a try if you're in the area.
We were in Vaalharts for an event, and were well received and treated. The menu for meals is well planned and portions are large and reasonable. The room was everything that was promised on booking. Will be on my to-do list if traveling there again.
Very friendly staff who have a passion for their work. Pride and ownership are also evident. It is truly a gem in the Northern Cape.

Myself, son (12) and daughter (6) had to be in Kimberley on the Saturday and decided to make a weekend of it. Everything was great! Great service, food, everything. I will definitely be dropping by again.
The service was top notch. From the moment we got there everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was incredibly tasty and such a large menu to choose from. The room was probably one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. We really enjoyed the short visit.
One expects to struggle with accommodation on Old Christmas Day, but here our wildest expectations were exceeded. From arrival, through the afternoon, dinner, breakfast and departure you feel pampered and welcome. Even though we were the only two people in the hotel after dinner, and the only two for breakfast on Christmas Day, no trouble was too much for the people. The hotel will be our accommodation for the next visit to the area.
