The service was very good and friendly.
Standard is poor, but if you just urgently need a place to sleep, it is sufficient.
This guesthouse is in a non-favourable neighbourhood and very neglected outside as well as inside. Gates have to be opened by hand - and were so rusted that the mechanism had to be unscrewed by one of the guests in order to get out. Carpets inside are threadbare with smaller carpets placed over the holes. No mirror or plug for the basin in the bathroom. Lighting in the room very poor with a non-funtional heater in a very cold Kroonstad. The asking price of R 600 per person per night is way too expensive for this type of accommodation.
The location was inadequate, stinking sewage flowing into the streets. The room is part of a residential house shared by permanent residents. No water in the sink but water in the shower. The excuse was that it was the Municipality's fault for no water in the sink tap, but the shower did have water! The toilet's flushing mechanism kept breaking. I even tried to repair the toilet at 1 am in the morning. On the last morning before we left there was no water in the bathroom after a so-called plumber had worked on the pipes the night before. In the morning we had to walk around the building in the cold outside to another room to take a shower. We were really disappointed.
Extremely dirty, extremely poor service, extremely poor reception. We had face towels in the room to bathe with. Upon arrival we had to wait 30 minutes for someone to open the gate. Refrigerators were out of order in the rooms. No WiFi available, apparently she doesn't know the password. No light bulbs in the bedside lamps. When we wanted to inquire about towels etc. we knocked and knocked and reception was unanswered. Oh I could go on for hours. Definitely not what I expected.
A lot has to be done for improvement and better standards compared to other establishments. Get rid of bath and install another shower. A carport in motorway parking is much needed.
Water leaking in the bathroom. Breakfast almost cold eggs. No WiFi. Comfortable beds to sleep. Hosting people trying to do their best but still very, very expensive place for what you get.
