Wonderful place with beautiful views and well equipped.
The host was so great - super helpful, offering us local recommendations of walks, etc. The house was very comfortable and we felt right at home! Nice to have a spice cupboard, things you don't often have access to when you're travelling, so I think this is a really thoughtful and inexpensive thing to do as a host.

Danke Ma is definitely one of the best accommodation options out there! The view is breathtakingly beautiful! Large patios on both floors and very spacious, neat and well appointed place. The most complete kitchen I have ever seen, literally everything and more that one needs. Nice braai area too and the hanging chair was pretty much a treat. A new favorite place for us and next time we will stay much longer! Top class!

This is a beautiful apartment with a relaxing view. It is quiet in terms of foot traffic, but you can hear the ocean roar. The only thing to be mindful of is that there are quite a few narrow stairs to navigate to reach the apartment from the street/parking.
The place has 180° beautiful sea view. The place is very comfortably furnished. We had a great stay and had a great time on the wooden deck. The stairs to get to the accommodation are very steep. Then there is also a round set of stairs down to the rooms.

The view is incredible. The hosts do let you know about the steps, but they are definitely a challenge. Definitely not a place if you have mobility issues. There was a damp smell in the house, but I think that is more due to its location by the beach rather than a house-specific issue. The steps (both inside the house and to the house) are a challenge. We stayed there with our young daughter and needed to set up barriers to prevent her from serious injury. This place would be ideal for a couple looking for a weekend getaway or for a family with older children. We woke up to see dolphins playing in the waves! Overall, though, I was very happy with our stay and would like to stay there again next time I go to Herold's Bay.
Danke Ma is a place with the most beautiful view, just a pity most mornings there was thick fog. At least we could see dolphins. The place to stay was nice and clean and there was everything we needed. Linda was very friendly and helpful.

We found 4 cockroaches, not sure if anyone reported it. This did not put a damper on our stay. There were three in the lounge area and one in the main bedroom. This is not negative feedback and don't take it in that light.
We were able to rest well and really enjoyed our time. Having the sea view is just a bonus. Place is very well equipped.
A special thank you to Linda, the owner, who made our short holiday so memorable, nothing out of place or too much trouble to quickly sort out over the phone. I almost had to trick my wife to get out of there and back home, this is definitely the nicest stay on Herolds Bay.

Few words can describe how nice Danke Ma's stay was. The view is so beautiful! The place is clean and tidy and the moment you walk in and see the sea and how tidy it is it's like a holiday. The hostess kept us informed about load shedding and if I wanted to know something, answered quickly. It was the first time I didn't get cranky after a few days of going back home. Usually after about 5 days I'm itching to go back home. I wouldn't have minded staying there for at least another 2 weeks. I can't really say anything negative. Next time we will take someone with us to also experience the beauty. Thank you very much for sharing such a special place with others!

Danke Ma is a comfortable and tidy apartment and is equipped with everything and more. The breathtaking sea views make you calm and we slept wonderfully with the sound of the sea. We will definitely come again!
It's a beautiful place, but when I go again it will be in the summer.
Clean, tidy unit, however, there are a few items that one must take into account: 1) No garage/car was overnight in the street. 2) Unbelievable lot of stairs in front to the sea (but gate was locked so we didn't use access), entrance and inside unit. Especially awkward with luggage/grocery drop off etc. 3) 1st Holiday home where we have to pay additionally for DStv. Rather include the amount in the unit from the start. R50 per day. 4) Balcony is shared, so neighbors have access to your open sliding door.
Customer service was abysmal. Construction the entire week we were there. Never again.
Everything one needs is there and much more, it's beautiful. The whole place is clean, tidy and feels like home. The view is breathtaking. Would definitely recommend and will definitely come back again! Got so much more than we expected.

It's on the sea, you can't get any closer. Very neat, clean and there is everything and more. Definitely a must and worth a visit again.
The owner was very helpful as we arrived late at night during loadshedding. Battery light kept on for us etc. The view is amazing, place very clean, beds very comfortable and equipped with everything you need. Unfortunately, we did not know that we share the porch/deck with the incredible view and the barbecue area with the neighbors. So only downside was privacy. Probably the reason for the fair rate.
Danke Ma is particularly well equipped and the atmosphere lovely, neat and clean. The stairs inside were just a bit of a problem for older people especially carrying luggage up and down. Furthermore, we also say "Thank you Mom".

Exceeded all my expectations. We really enjoyed the view from every room in the house. The swing sofa is a definite hit. The friendly helpfulness of the house owners was much appreciated. Oh yes and how can I forget all the family games. By far the best accommodation ever.
The apartment is very well equipped and had everything we needed. Nice close to the sea and a beautiful view. Only the double bed in one bedroom needs some attention. It's not really possible for 2 people to sleep on it, one falls off because the mattress is very crooked!

Lovely view and super position.
We were more than satisfied with the place. Unfortunately, the owner's family who live there permanently (above) made it terribly unsightly, so we will not consider that place again. You pay a lot to stay there. The people just climb onto your balcony in the evening. Food that spills from above onto one's little table outside where you eat or sit quietly. A glass broke from above and pieces of glass fell where our children were walking. A cake fork fell on my head and I don't even mention the water or whatever liquid they pour from above on people's heads without any apologies. You are not allowed to make a fire in your braai, otherwise the place was well equipped. But unfortunately would not recommend the place.

View was beautiful, very comfortable. Steps were a challenge, but it doesn't come close to the great time we had.
And it's not Linda's fault, but with the construction in the area there was sometimes noise and therefore also dust. We had a very nice stay. The view of the sea was heavenly. We really experienced peace of mind. Very good value for money. We can recommend Danke Ma 101%, and if life brings us back to Herolds Bay, Danke Ma is the first place we contact for accommodation.

Cute and safe place, a stone's throw from the beach and a 15-minute drive to the well-known Old Bay Golf Club.
Danke Ma has one of the most beautiful views imaginable. We were a bit too early to book, but still the people let us in and rest for the time being. They helped with carrying the bags to the unit which has very steep steps up to the unit. It may be very difficult for old people to achieve this. The walk to the beach is also very steep, but the beach can be reached by car Inside the unit down to the rooms is also very steep and again for older people it will be difficult. We just felt that maybe the DStv should be included in the price and that maybe a radio could be brought in. We also struggled with cell phone reception. Other than that everything was so nice and nice. We will definitely stay there again. This time just a lot longer.
The service from the owners was top notch. The place is very well rested and you feel 100% you are on holiday. And the view! Wow! We had the privilege of being able to see a lot of dolphins frolicking with the surfers all weekend. Literally had a show! Do yourself a favor and book this place! I would suggest that people who struggle with stairs might choose another place because the stairs that lead to the place itself and in the house to the bathroom and rooms. Other than that the place is perfect for any person.

The only con is the shower. It leaked a lot. But we could live with it.
The apartment is very comfortable and tidy, with the perfect view that will calm any soul. The access steps to the apartment as well as steps to the beach are very challenging and steep, so not ideal for old people or small children. However, this is normal for the area, and will present most of the houses/apartments in Herolds Bay with the same challenge. The parking is also limited/small, especially if you drive a large vehicle, and there is no parking for visitors. Again, this is a problem that will not be unique to Danke Ma, but the neighborhood that restricts parking, and will leave most homes with the same problem. In summary a very nice place to stay for an unforgettable holiday.
Beautiful view and comfortable. Well equipped. Nice outside shower. Just be careful of the steep steps inside and outside. Beach access with young children or the elderly somewhat challenging. We opted for driving there with the kombi. Excellent view. Saw dolphins, whales and seals. Beautiful! Will do so again!
You have to climb a terrible set of wooden stairs with all your luggage. Fridge was dirty. Stairs down to rooms have no handrail. Looks like they are still restoring the place. Brayer tied with a cable tie and tackled terribly dirty. Outdoor table full of holes. No thanks, would not recommend to anyone and water on soil in rooms.

The deck is shared with the people staying next door, without a barrier in between - i.e. no privacy. The facilities are very primitive. The apartment was very clean. The people next door's smoke wafted through a connecting door between the two adjacent apartments. The unit doesn't deserve more than three stars.
The view makes up for the awkward stairs to bath and bedrooms. Beds in good condition. Bathroom could use some attention. The wooden stairs to rooms make a lot of noise and wake up other residents. Bed linen and towels in good condition. Kitchen convenient.

If the view doesn't take your breath away, the 29 steps to the front door definitely will. If you want to stay by the sea, then Danke Ma is the number one choice. It really is a nice holiday atmosphere that prevails at Herolds Bay. But bring all your food and drink with you if you don't want to drive to George for something you forgot, because the only little shop in Herolds Bay is just a typical beach cafe with only the essentials.

You just can't get enough of the view. The visit on the balcony, which sits directly on the sea, is wonderful. But note if you are not very mobile, this is NOT the house for you. You have to go down a spiral staircase to the rooms (and up again to the living room, kitchen and balcony). But everything makes up for the wonderful view and hanging out on the balcony. Rooms also overlook the sea. Herolds Bay is beautiful.
Beautiful sea view! Unfortunately so many stairs (which are also not in good condition). No on-site assistance or help. The sleeping section's porches are unstable and bricks are loose and weathered. However, the facilities are adequate and in good condition.
The place is begging to be renovated with the toilet broken and no hot water. It was disappointing. The place needs attention and begs for a renovation.
