Tranquil and serene.
Location and views are absolutely beautiful. Peaceful. I was graced to have zebra and buck visit daily just meters away from the lodge. Amazing to be so close to nature and wildlife. Loved the experience.
Exactly what we had in mind. Nice peaceful getaway far enough from everything to be peaceful but also close enough to visit Clarens and surroundings. Service was friendly and everything was always on time cleaning, breakfast, etc. Will definitely use De Ark again.

The area where De Ark is situated is really beautiful, with lovely scenery. It felt really great to be in nature. We spotted some kudu as well. Our hosts were very informative and made sure were aware of all the important info we needed especially regarding the gravel route, as well as giving us tips about other things to do in Clarens. They even shared the weekend load shedding schedule with us. Silas and his team were amazing, and the breakfast was good.
Road from tarmac to chalet is dirt and scabby in places. 4x4 did it easily. Well received and taken to accommodation. Neat, good impression. Amenities: wifi, kettle microwave, electric blanket, stove and wood, fridge. Breakfast standard English breakfast, well prepared.

It was a nice break and the location of the lodge was fantastic, with its beautiful views over Clarens and the silence you couldn't ask for better. The breakfast was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
De Ark was beautiful and the location in the mountains is special. Suggestions for improvement are to put toilet spray in the toilet and make sure there is Blitz to start a fire with in the fireplace. A canopy in front of the front door will keep the rain out. For the price per night, a small stove-oven will go a long way in cooking something. Thanks otherwise for an unforgettable time!

Really great location with a fairly minor dirt road to access (quite doable even for me on a road motorcycle). The room itself was clean and quite pleasant. Comfy bed and such. The flow out of the shower head was a little unsatisfying but it did the job. No TV which I liked but some might not. A handful of purchase-able drinks/snacks in the fridge, or a small bar that's open 'til late, would have been nice.
It was a wonderful getaway. The places aren't on top of each other so you have your privacy. The view is very special. The staff was helpful and friendly at all times. The Ark will see us again soon, a swimming pool would have been a plus especially on the hot days.

The getaway to De Ark Mountain Lodge was definitely worth the effort. Maguel is the perfect host who does everything in his power to make his guests feel at home. Although the scenery was beautiful, the lodge was not well kept or renovated. Out of the two mornings (and breakfasts) we had, there was no consistency as everyday, they were running out of something, showing that this was not a very professional approach. The host was very friendly and nice, but this is not enough. The fireplaces in the rooms could not be used as the smoke would stay in the room, and although they knew about it, and it was very cold, they had not taken care of fixing it on time. Overall, a pleasant place but has big room for improvement by starting being professional.

The view from the chalet was breathtaking! JP was very hospitable and made us feel right at home.
Breakfast was consistently good and sufficient. However, visitors should note that there is no TV/radio in the chalets and that the road up the mountain is more suitable for 4x4 vehicles.
Road could do with a bit of upgrading, but overall it was an excellent location and excellent service thanks to JP and his staff. JP is a great person and outstandingly helpfull. I had a puncture and JP was there with assistance!

Due to all the fires and arson it was unfortunate that it put the whole area under a blanket of smoke. Because De Ark is high up, the smoke was less. However, we could not resist going for a walk in the beautiful surroundings among the goats and zebras. The silence was wonderful. Danie and Juanita were the perfect host and hostess. The morning and dinner were delicious. Danie - they are very nice people with warm hearts. The fireplace was lovely, the shower nice and big, with a breathtaking view of the mountains.
Juanita and her team immediately made us feel at home. The units were neat and clean and the veranda overlooks the most beautiful nature. We enjoyed cocktails at sunset. The dirt road is a bit rough in places, but my Polo made it in and out easily. We used the restaurant for dinner and it was one of the tastiest lamb chops I've had in a long time. Breakfast was just as wonderful.

Mid September is in a less beautiful time of the year, would like to come again if it is green. Danie and Juanita are very good hosts who took our needs into consideration. Food was delicious. Ideal place to come to switch off and recharge. The only negative is the road after turning off the tarmac.

The chalet has a large bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. This chalet is perfect for couples looking for peace and quiet. The chalet has a private balcony with lovely views and a firepot on the ground floor. Other facilities include a bar fridge, microwave and tea- and coffee-making facilities but please note it has no TV.
The lodge consists of 9 chalets. Each chalet has its own fire pot, bar fridge, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and patio or balcony with sweeping views of the mountains. Please note that only the Deluxe Double Rooms have TVs.
A scrumptious English breakfast is served at the Main House.
The farm has some of the most beautiful landscapes which can be experienced when taking an early morning walk, or mountain bike ride among the zebras, black wildebeest, and blesbuck.
