It was so beautiful and peaceful. We will go again, that's for sure. The hiking trails they have now facilitated are beautiful. We were also fortunate to hear a ground or night owl. Tell all our friends about the beautiful gem.

I celebrated my birthday in February. My spouse and I chose to break away from the city to some tranquility to celebrate. The place to stay met all our expectations: quiet, tidy, simple and in nature. The place had everything we needed and it felt like "home away from home". The hostess arranged that we were well received. Will visit again.
My experience was well rewarded with night sounds I have not heard in a very long time (fiery-necked nightjar), peace and quiet. The transition from town to the valley is amazing. The place is well equipped with everything you need, and the rain makes it that much more special. I would highly recommend this place. Thank you to the owners; I was very well received with a warm welcome.

Lovely, comfortable fully equipped room and kitchen. Beautiful surrounds too. My only comment is that the house next door had full view directly into my bathroom when the doors are open. A little extra privacy would have been nice.

We had a great stay! My mother and I spent this time for a weekend. Will definitely visit De Hoop cottages again. All that could possibly make it better is if the canopy is waterproof so that you can still sit outside when it rains.

Beautiful surroundings, well equipped units, perfect getaway destination.
We were received very kindly. The house was very clean and tidy. We rested wonderfully, walked and enjoyed the fresh air. The tranquility with the birdsong and the sound of the stream is just indescribable.

We were welcomed to De Hoop Cottages by our wonderful and friendly hosts Eric and Leaticia. My husband and I loved our stay! The rustic wooden cabin is located on the lower slopes of the mountain, within a forested area. Beautiful and quiet. No music allowed, thankfully. Just the sounds of nature! The cabin had the necessary basic amenities and a lovely deck. The bed was comfortable. Remember to take your own bedding and towels. The loo and shower were just a short stroll away. We're campers, so this wasn't an issue for us. The accommodation offers good value for money, and being on a farm, we were able to enjoy a lovely long walk up and across the hilltop. The location to Robertson and surrounding wine farms offering tastings, etc., is excellent. We will definitely return.
All that maybe bothered was the fact that the hot plate didn't work, it tripped the power so one could only use the gas stove.
See the place again soon. Our 2nd time there, next we try the forest house, it's so quiet and close to the dam.
Beautiful place, great comfort, we were there in July and it was very cold so just pack your Long John's and a Spencer and take enough dry firewood. It's a place of peace and quiet, take a book and read, there's wifi, but pretend you don't know.

Struggling to get there. Uber took me from the airport in CT to the farm. Incredibly cheap. The place is isolated, alone, quiet, idyllic, peaceful.
We really enjoyed the evening there. I give 3 stars for location, not because it is poorly located but because you go there for peace and quiet. We walked on the farm and got the feeling that it was just us. The road ends there! The valley on the way there was a big surprise, with more vineyards and fruit orchards.

The cottage is very basic, but clean and has everything you need for a night. The surroundings are very beautiful and the host and hostess were very nice. It would be good to fumigate the place because all kinds of small insects fall on you because the roof is covered on the inside with reeds which is an ideal place for insects to thrive. We enjoyed our stay very much. The location is great in nature and it was nice to go for a walk in the mornings. It was nice to light a fire in the evenings and just sit and listen to the nature around us. Very good value for money and nice close to the town and wine farms to visit.

I can recommend this place for a couple of days of peace and quietness. The cottages are very nice and clean. We took a hike to the hills and it was not too far and we had an amazing view.

I was pleasantly surprised by the beauty of nature at Laaitjie Farm. The landscapes are breathtaking and the hikes are varied, offering orchards, indigenous forest, eucalyptus and other invasive species, but also beautiful fynbos further up the hills. Despite it being the school holidays, all 4 farm dams were very quiet and offered very relaxing swimming experiences.
It is always a pleasure for me to visit De Hoop Cottages, my favorite place will go every year, quiet and nature nice break from city life.
I had a wonderful stay. It is quiet, there is beautiful scenery, nice ponds and places to walk. In the evening you can have a nice barbecue and drink wine on the cottage's deck. One sees beautiful stars. The house was neat. It's the perfect hiding place.
It feels like you are in another country/world. All sounds you hear are those of nature and with no cell phone reception it forces you to really switch off and be present. I think every person should do this.
The Boshuisie experience was wonderful. The lack of W-Fi and cell phone signal helped for a total break away from technology and everything one rushes. There is signal available nearby, on the road to town and on the mountain, where contact can be made with family who want to know if you are safe. The gas, battery lights and braai places provide all that is needed (and are not subject to load shedding!). The setting is so beautiful. The forest is beautiful and it is more than worth the effort to walk up the mountain to enjoy the view and nature. The host was very friendly and helpful. We recommend the Boshuisie to anyone who wants to get a little closer to Mother Nature.
The place is located in a gorge. One of the most beautiful places ever. I feel like my vacation was too short.

In nature, under the trees with a pond for nice swimming. The Boshuisie has no power, but don't let that put you off - there is a fridge / freezer, and nice hot water shower. In the evening it is so peaceful with only the gas lamp, candles and a fire burning! Can definitely recommend it to people who just want to get away from all the hustle and bustle.
The views are stunning and the chalets thoughtfully equipped and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Fantastic getaway.
Laetitia made a real effort with me to find out more about Robertson and his people. The cottage was well equipped and the roads in the gorge were so refreshing. The place is truly in one of the most beautiful gorges around.

We really enjoyed the Boshuisie with our children. The fireplace inside warms the whole house and the children had a great time playing in the forest. Beautiful hiking trail up to a breathtaking viewpoint. Our 4 and 6 year olds could experience it themselves.

The beautiful scenery on Laaiplaas takes my breath away every time. This is accompanied by a feeling of absolute rest and peace. Laetitia provides an excellent service and always tries to accommodate her guests' requests. It would have been a bit more comfortable with a double bed, but we knew in advance that there were only single beds and we made it work. Our stay at De Hoop Cottages was once again fantastic and we will definitely be going back!

Als is so nicely and neatly furnished. And, oh, the silence that reigns there, wow. I was actually emotional when we had to leave July's house, but yes, we will book again soon. De Hoop was just the right place for us to relax. We enjoyed the hiking trails on the farm, especially the Kloof trail! What an adventure! The silent nights under the stars were amazing! The accommodation is simple but with everything you need. Thank you to the farm owners who make their farm available for our city lads.
I really enjoyed my visit in Swinks' house. The cottage is small and simple, but has everything you need. It was especially fun exploring the farm, swimming in the farm ponds and going for a run in the mountain. It is a very beautiful valley, with dramatic mountains and lots of peace and quiet. People who like nature as company will definitely enjoy it.
The cottages were easy to find, and clean. Everything was provided, pan, toaster etc. It does get cold in the evening, but thankfully warm blankets are provided and the indoor fireplace helps a lot. No reception, we played cards. Wineries and shops nearby.
For us, De Hoop Cottages is that little place we just want to go back to again and again. Like the previous times, we really enjoyed it in Adam's little house. The cottage has everything you will need, and even though there is no WiFi or a TV, you don't miss it at all, on the contrary, we prefer it that way. In terms of value for money in Robertson, I don't think there is any better. We are definitely going to visit again!

The perfect place if you are looking for peace and quiet, nature and no connectivity to the online world as there is no signal. This is exactly what we needed so it suited our three-night stay over New Years. We explored all the hiking trails surrounding the farm. The views are incredible! The cottage amenities are basic, but everything is very clean and includes everything you need. We will be back.

Want to know if there is WiFi. Had no reception. I suggest if there is, stick it against the fridge for the guests and also add 1 pillow for each bed. And also a TV for if you want to watch a movie. Room light is a bit dim, but headlight is nice and sharp. Would also recommend a wardrobe. Thank you very much.

It is located in a beautiful gorge full of fruit farms. It's simple, yet luxurious, because there's everything you'll need. Just bring a walking stick or bicycle.
We arrived there on Friday afternoon, were hospitably received by the owner and enjoyed the silence the most. The bush cottage experience is a must for anyone who just wants some quiet time and get away.

The Boshuisie is exactly what we wanted - secluded from other people and between the mountains. The children really enjoyed it, as did our parents. The roof at the dam is just dilapidated, hope it will be redone before we come again.
The surroundings are breathtakingly beautiful and the Langeberge are so close it feels like you can touch them. Accommodation is basic, but with everything needed.
We got there, the man helped us, first of all he didn't even really greet us so I would say De Hoop is a no go for me. The hot water doesn't work properly, we should have washed in cold water, it was really unpleasant to stay there and couldn't wait for the morning hours to come so we could go out. And the man treated us very badly, 1 out of 5 is too much to rate them, but thank you for the call center that came to my rescue. I have to say that team made me feel that I was also important to them.
It was a good experience. We were surrounded by beautiful mountains and the wonderful farm feel. There are also many paths to follow if you want to walk. Truly rest for the soul.

Although it rained most of the time, we were able to hike up the mountain, ride the mountain bikes and even swim in the pond. No one else around. The log cabin in the woods was very basic but cute and adequate and just what I expected. The flowers of the field were lovely. The owners were very nice and helpful and their home or office was very interesting. Luckily I had a 12V battery to run the lights in the bathroom. I will go again to experience it during nicer weather.
Breathtaking and peaceful. 5 stars is too little. I wish I could give it more. It was breathtaking. Our second time at De Hoop, but first time in the forest house, the silence, the tranquility and the stars in the sky were just what we needed as a family. The pond behind the house was a bit scary for me with a 4 year old rushing water, but the view from that pond is incredible. I also didn't like reading that there isn't a bathroom and it's further in the woods away from the cottage, but it didn't bother us much either and it's so neat and clean, and we're definitely going to come back. If you just want to enjoy silence, a nice barbecue and nature, this is the place to go. Wow, is all I can say.
Beautiful houses with everything you want, peace and quiet. The cottages are very well equipped and are beautifully clean and tidy, we were relieved to learn that pets are not allowed. Slept very well in the bed and the showers are deliciously hot. Erik is very friendly and helpful.

What a privilege to be able to share Eric and Leatitia's piece of heaven with them! The scenery is breathtaking. The hiking trails were a real pleasure. It's only 15 minutes away from Robertson Quater's shopping center and a good base from which to explore the wine valley. De Hoop Cottages is definitely at the top of my list of favorite places to stay.

We were amazed at the spectacular views of fruit farms on entrance to the facility. The extreme silence and the sweet sound of bird life. An awesome place to relax and unwind away from the busyness of the hustle and bustle. Good for the soul and mind.
The cottages are beautifully located in a grove of tall eucalyptus trees, through which one can look out over the valley below to the craggy mountains in the distance. The farm offers lovely walks and good birdwatching. We ticked around 65 species out of the over 140 birds on the list provided by our hosts, and there are undoubtedly more to be discovered in the varied habitats on and around the farm. Our cottage had all the basic for a brief self-catering stay.

The drive with a car, particularly a low one, was a nightmare the last kilometres to cottages. You must mention the road condition to the site to prepare for that.

Very little/no traffic and great place for kids to be kids again without electronic devices and lots of ponds to swim in. Children did not want to come home.

Pleasantly surprised with the new Boshuisie! Lovely fireplace and deck and kitchen is equipped with necessary equipment. Private and peaceful. At night, 8-legged friends come to visit, but they are harmless! Close to town if you want to explore, but also nice to just be around the cottage.
It was the perfect break from our city life. The surroundings are so beautiful, you are surrounded by the beautiful mountains and all you can hear around you is nature. Lots of nice walking paths on the farm, beautiful views await if you are willing to walk just a little. The owners are very friendly and have the cutest 4-legged children who come to visit in the evening when you sit on the veranda and have a barbecue. It was definitely worth the money and we will definitely go back again for another break.
My husband and I go somewhere every year for our wedding anniversary, of which I usually look for a place and make the reservations. My husband was terrible about De Hoop because he is always looking for peace. Beautiful place right in the mountain!

Chalets are well equipped with basic necessities, Ampie's house has spacious rooms. Area is breathtaking and hiking trails very beautiful! The black dog, Mada, is a good walking companion.

The short stretch of dirt road was bad, but you can drive a car as long as you drive slowly. The house was very clean with everything you could need. Had a great rest and would like to go again. The hostess was very friendly.

The scenery, tranquillity and silence penetrate deep into your soul. It was great! The host and hostess (and Annatjie) are friendly and helpful, but we missed the care for the guest. The cottages definitely need TLC: the door couldn't open. There are for example no extra containers in the kitchen, only the much needed. There was only one single layer of toilet paper in the bathroom. The towels could not dry well. The blinds are broken. In short, it's like extra effort is not being made. Not even a wildflower as a welcome on the (sticky) table. I'm not one for complaining. I also had a self-catering unit myself, but the guest comes first. I would advertise the place as a backpackers (have never been in one) and ask the guests to bring towels themselves to keep the price low, otherwise more TLC.
De Hoop Cottages are the perfect place to get away from it all. Relaxing, peace and quiet and no cellphone reception. Just you and nature. Highly recommend it to someone who needs to unwind.
Was fantastic again. Unfortunately again no hot water for shower, gas bottle was completely empty! Hubby had to fetch a bottle from the cabin in torrential rain! (not nice). Got our date of arrival wrong. Some of the dishes were also dirty. Fridge definitely faulty, takes 2 days to freeze and there is water all the time on one's things. If you mention it, the answer is just, why didn't you say? Maybe a checklist and better maintenance? (just a suggestion) Despite everything it was lovely, rain was so nice and thunderstorms were awesome. Lovely walk and hanging out by the fire in the evening. A 'deck' by dam would be great, for getting feet wet, as rocks are very sharp to go into. Thank you for the lovely place you share with us!
Everything was beautiful, but by no means child-friendly - my youngest child could walk hands free under the porch arrangement to a terrible abyss. So we couldn't relax, the pond was nice and the shelter by the pond helped a lot against the sun. The last day the fridge stopped working and we had to throw away all our frozen stuff. We also only stayed three days then we couldn't anymore as children couldn't really play. I think the white houses are more family oriented and the forest house rather for couples or older children. It is indeed a beautiful farm.
The unit was neat and clean and you could explore the surrounding area easily and visit all of the attractions. The linen and beds were wonderful.

The unit is perfect for overnight stays. Couples who want to stay longer may want to consider the larger units. I was there in the week and it was incredibly quiet. Undoubtedly value for money. The owners are very pleasant people and I will definitely make a go back soon.
This is the second time we have stayed at De Hoop Cottages, and we have enjoyed every moment. The cottages are perfect for a switch off weekend, and the fact that there is no signal is great too. The place is really peaceful to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The view between mountains is breathtaking. The routes on the mountain are also very nice. Cottages are just enough for a weekend getaway. Neat and necessary facilities are there. Will definitely go again.
It was just so amazing to be surrounded by the gorgeous landscapes. Close to everything and the perfect place if you need to unwind. The doggies are adorable and add even more character to these little cottages.
What a beautiful and peaceful place nestled among eucalyptus trees away from the noise of traffic. Beautiful view of mountains and surrounded by birdsong and friendly people. My husband and I invited friends along for the getaway and it was wonderful. Our first night was with the July luman moon eclipse and due to the location we could not see it. But at least it's not the end of the world either. Our little house was clean, everything we needed was there, heaters and extra blankets because it was cold. We explored the area during the day and lit the fire in the evening and had a great time, thank you Leatitia and Eric.

Had such a nice stay in a little wooden house. The birds woke us up in the mornings. Didn't hear any cars or people. Just the sound of nature was fantastic. The only thing that lacked were sharper knives and wooden boards to put the warm pots on. Other than that we had a lovely stay.
Eric and Laetitia were absolute stars and super accommodating with everything. The house was neat, beds were comfortable and had everything we wanted. The farm is unbelievably beautiful. We had nice walks en swam in the dam. Would definitely go back again. This time just me so I can relax and enjoy everything.

We had the perfect "off-grid" experience by going "camping" in the forest cabin It was quite something to get used to being forest dwellers, but very nice. We were adventurous and took on "The Hills" hiking trail above the dam, up the mountain. It was special. shall we go again Yes definitely.
Wonderful, easy booking, no hidden surprises in terms of accommodation and costs. Clean, comfortable beds, shower facilities are lovely, no noise, not too close to town, but close if needed. Highly recommended.

We were prepared to walk the last part to the cabin, share an open-plan log cabin and shower in cold water. What a pleasant surprise to drive up to the new log cabin, have a private bedroom and enjoy the nicest shower on our entire tour! The walks up the mountain to see the sun set, a late afternoon swim in the farm pond and a visit around the campfire is the best recipe for a nature lover to go home happy.

Only after we had booked and paid for it, did we receive the email stating there was no bedding, no electricity, ablutions 200 metres away and a high clearance vehicle needed to get there. It was fine for us for the one night but it would have been better if all that had come up before booking the accommodation. I understand the other De Hoop Cottages have all those amenities.

The reception was very friendly and helpful. As I am disabled with lower leg amputation on the left side, they offered to accommodate us in a cottage with few stairs as our original cottage has quite a few steps on the outside. The cottage, furnished for four people, was offered without any further charges. Was highly appreciated.
It's a beautiful clean place. It's so unique because the cottages are restored farm workers' cottages. The fruit orchards were in full bloom and breathtaking.

Very comfortable accommodation, yet so close to nature. Very nice to walk the paths and experience the silence. No TV and little mobile phone reception but the beautiful mountains and birdsong are a very good substitute! Will definitely stay here again. Will only pack comfortable walking shoes next time.

The cottages have everything you need and we enjoyed the braai. Very beautiful farm/cottages. One thing that wasn't made clear beforehand, was the lack of cellphone signal. Usually I appreciate that, but in this case our baby was at home and we would've liked to be in contact with family.

The houses are absolutely perfect, well equipped and very comfortable. There are two things that could be improved. The houses barely get any sun in winter because of the eucalyptus trees in front of them, and it blocks the beautiful view over the mountains. The other thing is that I would've expected someone to come clean the braai every morning after use, but I had to struggle myself without any equipment. But besides that, the people are very friendly and we really enjoyed it.

The rules regarding guests were not indicated, misunderstanding with the owner about that, he didn't handle it very well and we had to pay R100 extra, he doesn't listen to his guests. We asked if we could have guests and he makes a liar out of us, we are peaceful people who are decent, we were calm, but my guests were very uncomfortable. He came and scolded us on New Year's Day in front of our chalet that we didn't arrange with him that we were going to have guests on 31 Dec 2016 from 7 till 11 that night. They came to visit, she was pregnant so didn't stay long, they would have stayed over the first and got permission for that, but they didn't stay in the end, they came to visit on the first till 4 that afternoon. It was a big problem for the owner, he handled it in a very ugly manner. No music was played, no noise made. It is the first place that we've ever been treated like that.

The equipment in July's house is very meagre.
Little in the line of mod-cons and a bit "tired" but the setting made up for it. If the trees were trimmed a bit or thinned out the views would be even more spectacular. Attntion to detail was missing and a small bar of soap would be great. Compared to other cottages I did feel it was on the expensive side.

If you are a nature lover, require peaceful surroundings which is good for the soul, this is the place to be. I was sceptical as I travel mostly on my own, and was so impressed, neat and clean, safe and loved every minute. Would recommend if you are a no fuss person and enjoy the outdoors. We spent 4 days at De Hoop Cottages. We visited many wine farms and sights in Robertson, Bonnievale, McGregor and Montagu. We also went for a walk on the beautiful farm and really appreciated all the old buildings and mountains. However, it was very very cold as the houses are under the shadow of the mountain until after ten in the morning and then under the shadow of trees and by four o'clock again shadow of the mountain. Even the big fire we made in the indoor braai did not warm the cottage. I foresee it being great in the summer. I would recommend that the owners install two flat wall heaters to compensate for the cottages not getting winter sun.
The location is perfect - though you may wish you have a 4 x 4 as the road is a bit bumpy getting there - but it's perfect for a nice break of quietness and soul searching and will definitely go back again.

We were very impressed with the location of De Hoop Cottages. The view from our porch was breathtaking. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend, and are already planning our next getaway weekend to De Hoop, and are definitely planning to go hiking in the mountains.
Was very quiet and peaceful. There is almost no cell phone reception and it might be good to warn people in advance. Our husbands were at home with the babies and we could not get in touch with them. Also, the power went out unexpectedly (not part of load shedding) and we couldn't get hold of the owner (they weren't home). They should also put candles in houses for such cases. Otherwise we rested well.

Once a year my wife and I go away for a few days. We choose a different place every time. This time it was De Hoop's turn and I have no regrets at all. For me it was ideal. There was no cell phone reception and it was dead quiet. The owner is very helpful and friendly. It was really just what we needed. I will come again and would love to stay longer. A weekend is a bit short to fully enjoy it.
Just to get away from the hectic and stressful environment that we experience everyday, our soul and body have done good in nature. It was very peaceful and so nice to completely switch off for a while without TV and without mobile phone signal which attracts our people's attention the most these days. If you like hiking / MTB tracks and nature, this is the perfect place!

Guests have the option to a variety of cottages on the property which are all self-catering and have different sleeping capacities. Each unit is furnished with comfortable beds and has neat bathrooms. Linen and towels are provided. Free Wi-Fi is provided.
Further on, each unit comes with a kitchenette equipped with a gas top cooker, microwave, basic cutlery, crockery, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. There is also indoor and outdoor braais.
Apart from breathtaking mountain views, guests can enjoy nature, do some bird watching, go for a hike on the farm or in the kloof to reach clear mountain pools, and have a swim in the dams. Or you can just sit on the deck and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The farm is only 10 km from town and 15 15-minute drive from all necessary shops if need be, as well as all the wine cellars that the valley is renowned for.
