82 guests' feedbackWe were received by Melanie, a fantastic, friendly hostess who immediately makes you feel welcome. The accommodation was beautiful, tidy, wonderfully quiet and peaceful, safe. The unit is well equipped with everything needed, good quality bed and linen. Well maintained inside and out. It is the right place to rest, away from the city noise. Enjoy a walk in the forest, bird and wildlife. In the evening it becomes quiet by the fire, look at the stars and listen to the symphony of the night: birds, crickets, foxes, hyenas and lions. Can highly recommend a visit.
Would I recommend this place? 100%! I already have to quite a few friends just days after my stay. This place is absolutely amazing, the location is just perfect, so close to one of the gates to Dinokeng which made it so easy for us to go to and from without having to stay in the actual reserve. The farm has great paths that we used daily for walks just to get out into nature. The room was clean, stunning and everything we needed for our weekend getaway. Thank you for the amazing stay! We will definitely be back!
Glorious peace and quiet in a stunning location and lovely friendly hosts. The place is larger than other places we've booked for the two of us, very clean and has everything you need. Exactly as in the pictures.
Our host was welcoming, friendly and very helpful. The accommodation was clean, safe, well appointed and very comfortable. The braai area was cleaned each day and the walks on the farm were the highlight of our stay as we were able to see game on our walks. We were close enough to Dinokeng to go for drives in the park and it is only 1 1/2 hours from Johannesburg.

It was so nice and peaceful to be able to be quiet in the forest, away from city noise. The unit is spotless and has everything you might need. The bed was very comfortable and the bed linen and towels smelled so nice and fresh. Hot water from the shower is deliciously hot. Sitting outside on the porch with the birds around you and going for a walk with blue wildebeest, roe deer and blesbok was wonderful. We heard foxes, hyena and even lions in the evenings. Delmarei is a stone's throw from Dinokeng and we could enjoy daily trips there. Melanie is a fantastic hostess and received us very kindly.

We used the accommodation at Haak-en-Steek. It is a cozy and comfortable accommodation to break away from the city. There are no city noises or city lights - only the natural environment, tranquility, and fresh air. There are roebucks, blue wildebeests, and blesboks roaming around and can be easily viewed by taking a short walk. It is 2 km from the nearest gate of the Dinokeng Reserve. The accommodation has solar panels and a gas geyser which had lovely hot water. Communication was excellent. Guests are provided with the necessary information about activities in the area, as well as the nearest grocery stores and restaurants. She received us personally on arrival and made us feel very welcome.

It was without a doubt one of the most peaceful and beautiful places we have ever stayed. The service was fantastic and the lady was so friendly and helpful. Access to Delmarei is easily accessible from Molotto Road and directly from the main dirt road. The hospitality of the hostess was excellent, very helpful and went out of her way to ensure our well deserved rest. Can enjoy walking and cycling around. Thought the solar power could be a challenge, but not at all and works effectively. Everything from outside to inside was neat and clean with the most necessary of everything. Is provided with information of nearest shops and places with distances.

It was a wonderful and peaceful two days at Delmarei Private Forest Camp. Exactly the rest we needed! Melanie put so much effort into the reception and also when it rained at the cottage (due to windows we left open), she quickly jumped to plan with new bedding.
We didn't spend much time in the house because there was a lot of things to do around in the area. The host was so accommodating and went far beyond to assist us. The beds were really comfortable.

We had a great time at this little gem in the woods. Melanie welcomed us kindly and helped us if we needed anything. Saw various game and birds and heard the foxes and even a hyena at night. There is no power, but the solar system provides light, water etc. The only thing that might bother you is if the batteries start recharging early in the morning, the fan comes on which can be a bit disturbing if you want to go to sleep. Other than that it was fantastic. Thank you very much!

Was welcomed at the gate by Melanie upon our arrival. The cottage is tasteful and comfortable. Saw the different goats grazing in our backyard every afternoon. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the other units. Hiking trails were pleasant and we also saw a lot of wildlife.
The accommodation was very neat and everything you need was available. Melanie lets you know in advance what to bring, such as braai wood and ice. You can go for a lovely walk in nature and there are many things to do in the area. We will definitely return again.

At Delmarei there are no external activities to do. The cottage is very comfortable for two people with the basic accessories for a self-catering unit. The place can be recommended for a few days of rest from the busy city life. The shops and other places in the greater Dinokeng area are 8 kilometers and further, so you need to bring everything with you to be able to relax for a few days. The hospitality was good and very friendly.

All you need to relax and visit the nearby Dinokeng reserve. Fully equipped kitchen for 2 persons. Just waiting for the dam to be filled with sufficient water, which will attract more bird life and animals.

Had a great time, just half an hour outside Pretoria, but it felt like we were deep in the bush. Could hear lions roaring at night, as well as the call of hyenas. Dinokeng is only about 15 minutes' drive from Delmarei. There is a nice walking path on the farm. Melanie is definitely a hostess and does her best to ensure your comfort. The cottage is very nice and clean, with good quality bedding and cutlery. We will definitely recommend the place to everyone.

It was a very peaceful environment to stay in and the cottage was perfect.
Beautiful chalet with 2 bedrooms. So clean and nice and nice to stay here for a few days. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful and quiet. Definitely a recommendation if you want to get away from city life. The surrounding farm on which the property is located is also beautiful and we even went for a walk around and saw blue wildebeest, zebras and a large range of goats. Truly a beautiful farm and area. Highly recommended. Notes: The owners have a small "off-grid" battery and solar panel system that can power the lights, power plugs and a small refrigerator. The battery's capacity is not large, so the battery can go flat quickly, especially if it's cloudy. There are quite a few downlighters installed in the unit, thus using a lot of battery energy. Keep this in mind for evenings. I would suggest that you bring a "power bank" with a solar panel for yourself just to help the unit's system. There is wifi signal available, but remember you are in the woods, so the signal is weak. I suggest you turn off the "devices" for your visit here and enjoy the 1000s of birds around you and the peace and quiet of the Dinokeng reserve. They even have a "shed" on site, where you can purchase extra wood for a very affordable fee, and it's very comfortable. There are shops within a 12 km radius of the camp, so if you have forgotten something you may be able to find a lot of it at the "local" OK Bazaars supermarket. So there is no reason not to book right now and visit Delmarei Private Forest Camp. The people are super helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Delmarei to any small families and/or groups of friends for a welcome break from city life.

I had a lovely break at Delmarei. Melanie was available and responded promptly to any requests. She is a very good hostess. The farm is very beautiful and it's nice to take a walk in the forest among the wildlife. The distance from Dinokeng Reserve is very close and made it easy to do day trips there.
What a pleasant place to just break away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Lovely quiet atmosphere, in nature, with the wild animals around you. Also conveniently close to Dinokeng nature reserve. I rested wonderfully. Would recommend anytime.
It was absolutely incredible. The little house was perfect for a couple getaway. Could not have been happier. The bed was comfortable and clean. The shower was spacious and had plenty of hot and cold water. The kitchen was well equipped (if you don't mind not having a microwave). The little stove top was sufficient. Sitting outside on the stoep, eating every meal was amazing. Listening to all the different bird calls and game come past. You never had to worry about the electricity being off, as there is solar power. Meaning, the fridge was always cold and the light was always on.

Smoking in the unit is prohibited. Please use the ashtray and rubbish bin for the butts. Please do not scatter cigarette butts or throw them in the field. It's a risk for wildfires.Only soft music is allowed, if the neighbors can hear it it is too loud.
All open fires must be extinguished if not supervised. The accommodation borders the Big 5 Dinokeng Nature Reserve and must abide by and comply with their regulations.
Game drives are not allowed on the farm.
Most paths can be used by cycling, walking or jogging. Please note that there are 3 farms that have been opened and that guests must consider the other owners' private property.
The accommodation uses septic tanks for the toilets. Please do not flush any foreign objects or sanitary products down the toilet. This also includes cotton balls, napkins and facial cleansing cloths. A small bin is provided for this purpose, please use the bin.
Please note that wildlife roams freely. Please do not feed or disturb them. Remember, these are still wild animals.
Please note that there are poisonous snakes on the farm. The most common are the Mozambican spitting cobra, snub-nosed cobra, tree snake, black mamba and puff adder. There are also other snakes in the area. Guests must please watch where they walk and try to stay on the paths.
There are spiders, bees, scorpions, bats and insects found in the woodland. Guests must bring the necessary medication with them just in case.
The farm has quite a few lizards and geckos. Please don't hurt them, they help keep the mosquitoes at bay.
Please do not litter.
When there is damage to the premises, equipment, furniture or linen, it will be guests' responsibility to replace them.
Guests must please look after the unit as their own.
The unit works with solar power which provides enough power for basic needs. The solar panels will recharge the batteries from time to time and then guests may be able to hear the fan. Also, please do not tamper with this system. Due to the fact that the unit is solar-powered, there is no capacity for electrical appliances. For example: heaters, hair dryers, hair straighteners, irons etc. Note that there is no Eskom backup power.
Please work sparingly with the water, water is precious.
