Our unplanned stayover in this old-style hotel-type guesthouse was very pleasant. Our dinner at Klein Oqis Restaurant in part of the old mine's mess hall was a delightful experience.
The room was booked for 2 people but was prepared for 1. One of everything. Several cockroaches in room.

Very neat and comfortable
We had a very nice stay. There isn't really much to do in Koingnaas, that's why we can't actually give more than 3 stars for location. It is a perfect place to stay overnight and drive again to the next destination. Isabella, who received us, was very friendly and very receptive. De Anker makes facilities available to heat your own food, quickly make a fire and grill. I honestly did not expect this in Koingnaas. All I would be able to recommend for De Anker is perhaps putting up a sign outside the town and route indicators through the town to the guest house.
Very windy there, nothing to do. So it depends what you want to do there. We didn't realize it was so far out of our route and the dirt road to Garies is very bad.
The guest house is situated in an old diamond mining village, and is well maintained and serviced. The caretaker was extremely friendly and helpful and the establishment is clean and homely. Location is not the greatest, but is good value for money and within easy vehicle access to the beach and nature reserves.
Everything needed was available and nicely clean.
Rooms were fine, we checked in late and they were accommodating, there was a kitchen area that could be use and we did make use of it. Was on my way to Namibia so this was just a convenient place to stop. Actually it was not so convenient on the day as I spent 3.5 hours driving in the dark on not fabulous dirt roads. Only arrived a little before midnight. Had been in contact with the hosts earlier to say we would be late.
Warm reception. The unit we booked dind't have a shower. We prefered a unit with a shower and they saw to it at once. We also requested a bar fridge and they provided it. Spacious bathroom and room, clean and neat at all times. Because of it's location the room gets very hot. I recommend intalling a ceiling fan or a stand alone fan. Peaceful and quiet. We only slept there because during the day we socialized with relatives. I definitely recommend this guesthouse.
Die Anker is a great place to stay, central for what we as travellers would like and for the purpose it would be to attend the mine. They are very friendly and let one feel at home.
