Pleasant, quaint old plaashuisie and surrounds in need of some TLC. We stayed in the smaller place. Hosts are very friendly. Quite noisy next to the N1.
If you're looking for shiny things ("all the bells and whistles"), forget Die Blokhuis. If you are looking for down-to-earth, salt-of-the-earth people, a basic, clean, safe and completely comfortable place to stay, then Die Blokhuis is for you. If you're not used to the sound of all-night traffic, you might as well lol. Get a Karoo chop in town, pack a bag of wood and barbecue under the stars - that's the Blokhuis.
I only had an overnight stop, but Die Blokhuis is very conveniently located and a good place to spend the night.
It's fine for one night. For a longer stay I would like a sheltered sunny spot to sit outside. loadshedding also played a role in WiFi availability. water spurts uncontrollably out of taps. I did not use the shower. train thunders by twice during the night.

The area around the house is untidy and littered. Bedding is not good quality. Able to go for a limited walk.
It was not clean at all and very noisy because the proximity to the N1 and I can't say it's animal friendly. There is no area that is closed and safe for animals.
We had a nice stay. Everything was clean and tidy. We stayed in the house. It is a real old fashioned farmhouse like in the old days.
Would have been nice if fireplace was burning in winter.
Spacious accommodation, more than we needed. Host and hostess were very friendly and helpful.
Hosts are very pleasant. Bedding and room will need to made "warmer" for the winter ahead. A countertop oven in the honeymoon suite is necessary as well.
The condition of this accommodation is of extremely poor quality. The toilet is not flushable, it is dirty, the bedding is very little, there are no lights in the place, only 2 bedside lamps, it feels incredibly unsafe. There is no mobile reception.
Place is really not value for money, it's dusty dirty and badly located and felt unsafe.
Oh how nice! I had a great time walking around and exploring the farm and the place to stay was great. The host and wife were wonderful and I enjoyed chatting with them. Thank you, I'm so glad I know about you, next time I'll come again! Thank you!
