The service was of high quality.
We were informed about flowers that are currently blooming in the Kloof and where we can go to see them. We followed the GPS directions and it took us to a dead end. The lady who lives there told us that two roads that were there were closed. The owner struggles with GPS directions to get it changed.
The communication could have been better, to say that it was out of town so we didn't need to drive past and back again. The phone number we received first was missing a number and we had to google the number to get hold of it. The place was clean except the floor in the kitchen was full of dirt. The Hok is on a small holding and not in the village.
Clean, tidy and very good service. Very good bed and fantastic big shower.
Talita received us kindly. Accommodation very neat and clean. View on lovely mountain. After a long day's travel, a good night's rest is essential, but the dog in the yard next door barks/howls all night!! Take note if you are a light sleeper. We only got up for 3 hours and made coffee.
The hostess made sure our place was ready when we arrived in Calvinia quite late and in very cold rainy weather. Unfortunately, there is something leaking a lot of water in the bathroom.
It would be good if there is a broom and mop. Just in case you need something to clean. We like to leave the place clean. Also very nice stay.
We stayed 2 nights at Die Hok on our way to Augrabies. It is very conveniently located along the R27 about 4 km outside Calvinia, which suited us perfectly. We had no cell phone signal on the way to Calvinia and were therefore unable to make contact with Talita and Leon, the owners. However, we first drove to their address in Calvinia as indicated on the booking information and were then escorted by Talita to Die Hok and shown everything we needed to know. Everything is there to make it as comfortable as one would like with an overnight stay. It's safe, peaceful and we also went for a walk between the smallholdings for lovely fresh air and a bit of exercise. We can definitely recommend Die Hok if people want to spend the night on their way north, east, west or south! Our vehicle and trailer were safely behind an electric gate and didn't even need to be locked.
There is everything we needed after a long day on the motorbike. Location just outside the town which was very nice for us. Would love to go again.

Very clean and spacious unit. We did however struggle to find the place, as the directions given were only from the western side, and there was no signage.
We spent one night with the tent, had a good shower and slept that night.
The unit is spacious and tidy, enough space and a well-equipped kitchen. The hostess waited for us at Die Hok and also brought us firewood from the town to braai with. Although we were informed in advance that the Hok is 1 km from Calvinia, you do not know how far you are from the town when you come from the Carnarvon side. I would therefore suggest that a sign be put up at the tarmac to the Hok. Not any criticism of the unit, just a practical problem. We will stay there again if we use that route again.
Nice place but disappointed that there was no hot water available - cold showers now not very nice. Will not go here again.

The site was outside the town but very safe. We were kindly received and had a good night's sleep.
Everything is clean and tidy. Nice roast there too.
We travel the whole country and Die Hok is the best, the cleanest, the most beautiful, the friendliest. That's all. I've had a guest house myself, I know what standards are, but Die Hok is outstanding. I will always sleep over there.
Tankwa Camino walkers can feel free to try Die Hok and also the Calvinia Gastehuis by the same owner. Very helpful and friendly people!
The only drawback is that it is 4 kms outside town and we did not realise this. We actually drove past and into town to meet the owner and was then led back to where we had just come from on an almost empty tank of petrol.

We slept in the backpackers wendy but it is better equipped than many others that are rated higher. I would recommend that only a small dish is put in to wash dishes. Would highly recommend.
Located outside the town in a peaceful environment.
Main road is hectic in the evening. Was a bit annoying and yard is untidy.
The place is very nice and safely located and Talita went out of her way to accommodate us when we arrived there so late.
Service was excellent and owner is very hospitable. Everything was very neat and clean. Will definitely stay there again.

We had a great stay for 2 days. The space is spacious, neat and clean. Nice porch to sit on.
The tranquility of the rural surroundings and well-equipped accommodation of Die Hok is a big plus for a weary traveller.
Very nice place for an overnight stay. Clean and neat. Very friendly service. Water pressure of shower is slightly bad, but nice and warm.
Talita went out of her way to enhance our experience by taking us to see flowers that only come out at night and advising where the flowers were in bloom. Lovely outside braai facilities.
