We enjoyed our time at Die Kujawelhuisie. Everything was neat and the hot tub is a winner. Staying in the middle of the guava farm was just awesome.

The hot tub was such a plus and we didn't have to use a lot of wood as it stayed warm. We were celebrating an anniversary and were so lucky to have found this gem last minute. The host was so nice and very helpful. Definitely recommend. The accommodation was clean and very cozy. Definitely worth the money. If you want a getaway from the busy town life and want to relax, I would definitely recommend.

From my arrival at Guava House it was just a pleasure, we could pick and eat guavas ourselves and walk around the farm. The cottage was immaculately clean with fresh white towels.

The area is picturesque and peaceful, you can really just relax here. The cottage is small and compact with all the amenities you need. The Kolkol was of course a big winner.

Was a very nice weekend. Really enjoyed it there. Positive points are that the place offers very good value for money, and has very good facilities such as the air conditioner, the hot tub, the hammock and barbecue areas. It is also very safe and felt safe. There is also a beautiful view of the mountains. Negative points are that the kitchen lacks some basic items and the fridge doesn't work very well. There were also quite a few midges and insects, but it is probably no one's fault and only natural. One thing that put us off is that our hostess came on the morning of the Saturday to check if everything was ok. A Whatsapp message would be more suitable, especially since we wanted privacy.

This was a great experience, It is the perfect secluded place to get away from the busy city living and away from day-to-day life. There is no wifi, also no signal on MTN but Telkom had a few bars. a little walk down the gravel road gets you a couple of bars to send a message out to the world. I really enjoyed the stay and will visit again. I always enjoy the drive up to Porterville as well. Keep in mind the road to the house is a gravel road but it is very well maintained.

The weather forecast was terribly hot (42°C+), but the air conditioning worked incredibly well, even with the indoor grill going. It is a single midwall unit above the bathroom door facing the room. The indoor grill is excellent. It is solid and did not smoke in the kitchen. We mostly used the outdoor barbecue for atmosphere and to relax. The hot tub was very nice, even in the heat. The umbrella helps for protection against sunburn. The fridge cools well. There is limited space, especially in the freezer, so please note that a cooler box is recommended if you are going to stay for more than 2 days. There are a lot of bugs, but they don't really bother you. As long as the windows are closed and only the curtains are open, they won't really bother. Flies only come in if the door is open for a long time, so only keep it open for short periods of time. The can of doom/raid worked well to ward off a few ants that wanted to enter a window. The shower was lovely but tends to overflow a bit. So the floor towel must be rolled against the door, otherwise it will run into the room. Otherwise, the floor drain should not be closed while taking a shower. Sunlight liquid, Blits, matches and a crate of wood were provided. The wood is enough for a day, but more wood is needed for other days. Buy around 2x7kg packs of wood for every extra day for braai, the kolkol and outdoor braai. It is very nice and we would like to go again and recommend other people to go. The only negative: it's pitch dark and quiet in the evening and you can't see well through the trees around. So one must stay safe and attentive to what is happening around the house. But we felt safe. There were some goats that came to visit us which were very nice. It is so peaceful that you can hear the birds flapping their wings as they fly over.

I would recommend that they change the shower by building a little wall in front of the shower so that the water doesn't go onto the floor. We found that the water was running into the bedroom. There are also no braai tongs in the kitchen. The one that is at the braai you can't turn meat or pick meat up with it. Only for the coals. There is also a concern about where the kettle and the stove are positioned. They are both underneath the DB Board which is a safety hazard. When cooking or boiling water the steam is on the DB Board.

The location of the cottage on the farm is very nice and private and perfect for a romantic getaway. The facilities are basic, but perfectly fine for barbecuing and also equipped with gas options if there is loadshedding. There is no signal (MTN) at the cottage, so check the check-in arrangement ahead of time and download your music ahead of time. The wood fired hot tub was amazing and absolutely makes the place, spent almost the whole weekend in it. There is wood, but just bring a lot of extra for the bath and barbecue, then you are sorted. 1. The inside fireplace is full of old braai fat. 2. The braai grids have old fat and meat on them. 3. The outside fireplace was not cleaned and the area was covered with weeds. 4. When I asked the agent for more wood they said we can go pick up wood under the trees in the forest. 5. We left one day early.

At night the stars lit up the sky. We didn't even notice load shedding, that is how much we were just enjoying our natural surroundings. Sitting in the hottub with a glass of bubbles underneath the stars surrounded by nature and the sounds of birds and all the little creatures that come out at night was truly a real treat!

It was a great breakaway from the buzzing city and normal daily routine to just unwind in the hot tub taking in the sounds of nature with a glass of wine.

A quaint quiet cottage in a guava orchard. Very private but not isolated. Wood fired hot tub. Adequate shopping in Porterville but better in nearby Picketberg. Both towns are clean and litter free.

Beautiful accommodation an hour and a half from the city. Was a great getaway for my husband's 30th birthday. The cottage is very well equipped - there is a coffee plunger and a potty - if we had known about this we would certainly have taken precautions - we would have loved to make potty! Very neat and clean - the hot spot was cleaned and fully stocked when we got there and was a relief in the heat (along with the aircon in the room!). Kathy is an amazing hostess - sent us helpful tips from before check-in and even let us know when load shedding would occur. Will definitely come here again!

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely getaway to Die Koejawelhuisie. Love the hot tub and make it worth it. Just bring enough wood. The guavas are delicious and as you need for a weekend is in the house. Some pesky flies, but it is a farm so what do you expect, do not complain. There is Doom in the kitchen if you really want to be difficult. For 2 people's getaway, the cottage is perfect. Don't think it's made for 2 couples. But family of 4 can work. Thank you so much for your wonderful time. Will come again.
