The old stone house is perfect for larger groups who want a simple holiday. We were just 2 people. The kitchen is well equipped and furniture matches the old nostalgic feel of the house. Note that the home is currently on the market and guests may be asked to allow buyers to view. Well located with a view over the river. Margaret was very friendly and helpful.
I was a solo traveler for the long weekend. I was so lucky to find such a beautiful place with the kindest hostess. Everything I needed was in the house. I could buy wood from her - so I didn't even have to go to the store. The place was very neat. I really can't fault the beautiful place. I will definitely go again and again. And I recommend everyone to use The Old Family Beach House. You will not regret it. With such a lovely hostess, one cannot help but feel welcome.
This old house is large and has character. Best view and location, especially for children. Very clean and has all amenities. For guests from the wine regions, the glasses are just too small. At least three new, bigger glasses were left after two broke. Margaret is a wonderful hostess and her paintings are beautiful!

No maintenance done on property for years. My friend's bed was so uncomfortable that she could not enjoy a peaceful night's rest. House is freezing. Two heaters did not work. Boiler turned off the power. It was replaced immediately after we brought it to the owner's attention. Water pipe was damaged by workers laying fiber internet pipeline, leaving us without water. Owner was so kind that she gave braai wood for free.
My visit there was very nice. Margaret was the best hostess ever. It was the first time I visited alone and due to my experience at Die Ou Familie Strandhuis I will definitely go again. The beach house was also perfectly located.
We were a big group of 11 people. We had a wonderful time. If I have one negative it would be that they need to upgrade the television, ancient piece and not a very good sound. Not that we were there to watch television but that really needs looking at. Margaret was lovely, always willing to help and a real SUPERSTAR!
An authentic old family coastal holiday house in the quieter eastern part of Still Bay, with good views over the Goukou estuary. The accommodation is basic yet can sleep many, is functional, clean and comfortable.
Thank you for a nice and comfortable guest house. It was very clean, tidy and everything you need is there. Wish we could stay longer. The weather was unfortunately very bad, but the house's plenty of space and indoor barbecue still make it a festival.

We were 2 families with 7 children between 9 and 12. Everyone had a wonderful stay. It's close to the river and beach. The house and furniture are very old, but they are kept very clean, so it was perfectly adequate for us. The owner's house is a bit close on the same site, but it didn't bother us at all. March is a good time to go as it is not as busy.

We enjoyed our stay so much! The house is fully equipped, you can really only arrive with your suitcase of clothes. There is enough space for 2 to 3 families to stay comfortably without it feeling cramped. The enclosed porch and indoor barbecue is a winner and we had a great time. The linen and house are spotless, really have nothing to complain about. Thank you Margaret for your hospitality, we will definitely come again.
Enough space and excellent location for a large group, in a traditional atmosphere.
We were able to relax and enjoy the beach time with our two-year old without even worrying about her safety or if something was going to break. The place is nice and spacious for play time in side if the weather is bad and there is also space outside when the sun is out. The tidal pools across the road was definitely the highlight of our stay.

What a fitting name for this beautiful old house. Couldn't find anything wrong, everything is you need is there. Hot water bottles were a lovely extra. Was very nice to meet the owner. Can definitely recommend. The old holiday house will definitely see us again.
Although the house and contents were all old, it was handed over to us clean and tidy. We didn't really want a garden apartment, which is why we booked the house (at the last minute). Great was our disappointment that we nevertheless gave up our privacy. The owner lives in her house on the same plot! We were watched with eagle eyes. There is also no outdoor barbecue area. Even that would be awkward with the owner keeping an eagle eye on the movement in and out of The Old Family Beach House. The house caters for 11 people. We also found it strange that unused beds were not fully made - it's impersonal to find only one made in a room with three beds. No, next time I will research my investigation carefully.
The house is spacious, well equipped and has a lovely view. It's walking distance from the best fishing spots in the Goukou River.
It was a nice getaway in the old beach house. Maybe just a warning should be given about the tap water. My husband became terribly ill from the tap water. We had to go to the pharmacy and there they recommended that we drink bottled water.
House is clean and tidy. Everything you need to make a break away enjoyable was available in the house.
