Valita, the owner, is rude and the place is in an absolute state of disaster dirty cracked walls dirty shower dirty kettle mud on walkways. The paint is peeling off the walls. Don't waste your money, it's not worth it and if you get there there is no person to welcome you. Self-check-in to a place that looks like it went through a war is absolutely not worth the money. Disgusting service and owner. No WiFi is available and the owner blames everything on 120 mm of rain. So the rain cracked the walls peeled paint and tiles and made the WiFi not work. Valita is a liar and scamming people out off their hard-earned money.

Drakensview is highly recommended for overnight or multi-day stays as it is located in a good environment and offers excellent accommodation. Wonderful view from the braai on the stoep as well as animals in the close view.

Has to be the best bed I have ever slept in. Such a stunning little room with all the necessities. I would recommend that you remove the big bee hive in the garden. Your bathroom shower also has a slight leak
It's a beautiful place and we had a great time there.
We stayed overnight after my husband's hike in the Drakensberg. The rooms are super neat and has everything you may need for a comfortable stay. Located only about 4 km out of Winterton, they are centrally located for daily trips to the central Drakensberg region and there is an awesome steakhouse just a stone's throw away from this guesthouse which turned out to be a real gem!

The unit was modern, well-equipped and very clean. I was however not aware that the kids would be sleeping in the same room on bunk beds - this was not made clear to me at the time of booking and I thought they would be in a separate room. As a result it was very cramped and the single bathroom proved challenging. There were also an enormous amount of flies - the owner should consider putting fly traps up. The location and views are lovely.

The place is home away from home, but that black cat traumatised us, the red throw over that was on main bed wasn't clean, the crisps were all expired. There's no security.
The gate is not welcoming for cars. The entrance road is bad for cars as it is a bad gravel road, it is not easy to park your car in their parking. That place is suitable for bakkies, but they will still struggle to park. Inside the rooms it is clean and perfect. The assistant is very good at what she does. She treated us as if she owns that business. We liked her a lot. Please work on the gate, the entrance road and parking. The place itself is far far away from Drakensberg mountain. The pic on the internet is zoomed.

The accommodation is very well equipped, clean, tidy with excellent customer service. It was absolutely worth the break away here and ideally located. However, we were a little worried about our vehicle because there was no locked gate and it was located next to a busy road.
We were received generously by the owner who made us feel right at home. The room is comfortably furnished and exquisitely decorated. We were surprised with sherry for the cold evening and biscuits for our breakfast. This view from the porch was incredible and certainly lives up to its name Drakensview. We really liked our accommodation - all was there that you could possible need. Comfortable bed and the linen and towels were changed frequently. We found the hostess to be very friendly, but only saw her during the day when we arrived. Felt that she could have checked up in the afternoons to show a bit more interest. On a clear day you can see the mountain, but only if you sit on the patio. During bad weather you have to stay indoors and then you feel somewhat confined. Also felt that the mountains were a bit far. We have stayed closer to the mountain. Yet we would recommend Drakensview.

Drakensview was perfect for our needs, a convenient home base close to central Drakensberg. The units are neat and clean, well equipped and located on a peaceful farm. The cleaner provided a good service and we hit the road every day with peace of mind. For a family of five, the unit was a bit cramped, but we were able to make a plan with garden chairs for meals around the kitchen table.

We really enjoyed staying here as the location is very central when visiting the Drakensberg. The view is great and the garden is definitely a treat for the eyes. The rooms are excellently equipped and everything needed for a self-catering holiday is there. You can also see that effort has been put into the decor of the rooms - they are very stylishly decorated and the bed sleeps wonderfully (not something you can always say).

This accommodation is really very neat, new and has good quality linen, kitchen equipment etc. The heating device is one of the best we had on our trip. All that can be improved is parking facilities and fencing for safety.
I do not have words. The environment, the people, the places, the mountain, the restaurants, the horses on the farm, the cows, everything is just, peaceful! I like the stillness and I chose to stay at Drakensberg Self Catering: the place is clean with an awesome view, central and easy to access other places. For me it was an absolute pleasure to stay there. I will not stay anywhere again, because this is my kind of place ... on your own and enjoy the nature. Unwind in this nicely blend-in place. A very friendly host! I will highly recommend this place for those who like peace, but if you are up and go type of person who wants action all the time, then try another place.
