We are back after 20 years and the place is more beautiful than ever. Well maintained with nice extensions and excellent personal service. This is an any time of the year getaway. We love winter here, because the houses are wonderfully cosy. The fireplace is always a winner.
If you like peace and quiet, away from the city, Forest Edge is for you. Apart from the distant sounds of a shooting range on one of the nearby farms on the weekends or a tractor during the week, you can truly relax and appreciate nature from the privacy of your own hammock on your forest-facing porch. (One quickly gets used to the single gunshots and tractor engine when one realizes what it is and it shows how far sound can travel in such a quiet place). The caretaker and his wife are lovely friendly people and the cleaning of the cottage was done in such a way that you never felt for a moment that your privacy was being invaded. As it were, the cottage feels so private that one is not even aware of the other guests. The cottage is equipped with all the amenities you could dream of needing on such a stay, with a few extras such as outdoor shower, hammock, picnic blanket, books and DVDs. I hope to visit again soon.

Lovely - the fireplace was great for cold nights. The outdoor shower was a nice feature, even in winter (as long as it's not raining).
Very nice cottage. The road is not the best for a small car. Hiking trails are nice and close and at a good price. We had a very nice stay here.
A beautiful sanctuary at the edge of the Knysna forest. Perfect for unwinding, shutting out the bustle of the 'real world'. Cottages are quaint and well appointed with everything you need. Lovely small touches like fresh flowers make the experience even more lovely. Great staff. Easy access to some of the most beautiful walks in our country. Forest Edge is amazing.
We enjoyed the welcome by the host, excellent quality and attention to detail in the units, the books available, good quality Wi-Fi. The property is well kept and neat. Tranquil surroundings in refreshing to be so close to the forest. We enjoyed Forest walks. Great Fun!
All that bothered, and I took it up with management. We booked Forest Edge, among others, because a queen-size bed was advertised. However, it is a double bed and very uncomfortable, the mattress was also old. My husband must have gone to sleep in the other room later. Will definitely go again if the bed problem is fixed.

Well appointed cottages in immaculate gardens very close to many of the main nature attractions in and around Knysna. A great place to base yourself for walks in the forests, visits to the beach and close enough to Knysna to get essentials.
We will stay here again. Wonderfully comfortably furnished with everything you need in a self-catering unit.
Susan received us kindly. The house is well equipped and tidy. There were some small issues, like the smell inside the cottage, musty? Old goat? Don't know what the smell was, but made me a little nauseous. Baboons roam the premises a lot, so unsafe for children to play alone on grass in front of the cottage, although they have a man whose job it is to chase them away, and I think he does a good job of it. Forest Edge is far from everything except the hike places like 'Kringe in an Bos'. I wouldn't go again, but I think there are a lot of people who would enjoy it. They have lots of nice DVDs for cold evenings, Fiela's Child watched. Susan, we're sorry we made you so angry when we didn't check out at 10:10. My baby had diarrhea at number 99, just before we had to drive, I was going to wash your towel but didn't want to make you angrier.
If you get tired of city life, Forest Edge is the place to be. We were very well received and thank you for the free upgrade so we could see how the Springboks played the English quietly. Would love to come and stay here for a weekend as a group of friends one day.
This is our 2nd visit and it is still beautiful. I would like the option of bottled water though, will pay for it. The staff are friendly and helpful.
We always have a lovely time at Forest Edge. Its cabins have such a lovely cosy, private feel, yet there is plenty of space to relax. The little things such as the hammock on the porch, and the outdoor shower are wonderful. We would go back every year if we could.
It was a special experience to stay in the such scenic beauty, with the lush forest and beautiful birds. The cottages are cute and well-equipped and the service is exceptional. The hiking trails and picnics in the forest are definitely worth the visit!

Comfortable accomodation in a plesant quiet environment which allowed you to feel as if you were the only residents (other than the animals). Ideal access to all the amenities from Wilderness to Plett, which were within 30m drive. Owner of establishment and staff always willing to provide assistance or information.
