Perfectly located for a stopover. Very well-equipped self-catering cottage. Lovely countryside feel with the sheep and the dam. A small table would have been practical. Appreciated the way the host kept contact to make sure we arrived safely and everything was okay.

I needed to rest after being discharged from hospital. I found the place very peaceful and suitable for my healing process. It has all the self-catering equipment; however, it did not work for me since I had no appetite.

We stayed in the rooms, not the chalets. I missed a bit of crockery and cutlery. Two plates, knives and forks would be a good addition to this lovely room. All the other (10 to be exact) rooms we stayed in on our road trip over 6000 km, had some kitchenware. The manager was very friendly. He kept in touch with is on the road. His instructions were very clear and he opened the lapa for us to braai. The place is halfway from Gauteng to Durban. So its a good location to stay. The Kit Kats were nice welcoming gifts.
Had a great time and felt at home. Would stay there again anytime.

Many thanks to the friendly staff of Fort Mistake. We had a comfortable stay and are a personal favorite to get away for a bit. The farm atmosphere and picturesque nature make it an exceptional experience. It's a quiet and comfortable accommodation option between Ladysmith and Newcastle.
The owners were incredibly helpful and went out of their way to make us feel as at home as possible. They did so many extras, even baked us a delicious cornbread for the barbecue. We were free to come and go on the farm as we pleased. Although they are still developing, we were not affected by it in any way. They will surely see us again when we come in that direction. Definitely a winner!
Very neat and a lot of effort done by them. Will definitely stay there again and recommend it anytime. Only problem was that we wanted to heat-and-eat some food and they do not have a microwave. Colla went through the trouble to temporarily bring a microwave to us. Worth the effort!
