Area is nice and quiet. The guest house offers meals and is very nice and tidy with secure parking. The WiFi was just a little slow on our laptops when we wanted to work, but we were able to sort that out to some extent.
Sonnika is so hospitable and friendly, it felt like we were at our own home! Thank you very much!
Overslept for a wedding. Was able to check in earlier and check in late.
I just want to say a big thank you to Sonika and all the effort she put in for us. We had a function and were able to check in earlier. The room was incredibly beautiful, neat and clean and perfect for an overnight stay. I would definitely recommend and use Gorgeous Gecko Guesthouse again.
Photos about accommodation were very accurate.
We were able to check in a little earlier by prior arrangement to get ready for a wedding in the area. The fridge and coffee making facilities are very welcome.

Small, hot with no air conditioner. Only a lumbar fan. Paying R500 per night extra for DSTV doesn't make it worth it. At R1000 per night I could have found a much better place.
Staff were kind enough to pick up the key earlier before we had to go to a wedding outside Modimolle.

Value for money. We were at our destination within minutes from the guest house. Keep up the good work Gorgeous Gecko.
The information displayed on the website is misleading. The rooms are advertised with a hair dryer, and had we not taken our own we would have been in trouble. Although the owner/manager arranged for someone to receive us in her absence, the person was busy with other commitments later in the afternoon and evening and would not have been able to help us if any issues had arisen. There was also another group of guests who made an incredible amount of noise, and had there been proper management presence, then this issue could have been addressed as well. Rooms are small and air conditioning would have made a big difference. In the summer heat that Nylstroom experiences, a fan on the wall is not sufficient to circulate comfortably in the room. I feel for the same expense we could have found better and more comfortable accommodation. I refer again to the misleading information on the website. As far as safety is concerned, it is not desirable to struggle with a key to unlock a sliding gate at 23:00 at night - the exposure is not acceptable. Overall we were disappointed.
This little place is now like my home away from home when I spend the night in Nylstroom. I have spent the night there a few times now and the people become like friends. I get my same room every time which is awesome because I know what to expect and no effort is taken to make sure I'm happy and satisfied, no matter how many times I stay there. Gorgeous Gecko will remain my No. 1 place to stay in Nylstroom!
I had to make extra arrangements for early check in and quite late check in and nothing was too much trouble. Was warmly received and shown around and made sure I was comfortable in my beautiful and tidy room! It was truly wonderful to spend the night there.

As expected tidy, value for money.
Gorgeous Gecko was very tidy and the hostess was friendly and very helpful. Just two suggestions to improve the experience: The toilet paper in the shared bathroom ran out during the night (the guest house was full) which made it somewhat uncomfortable for us. Luckily we had tissues with us! Maybe leave an extra roll of toilet paper in each room? Secondly, a bedside table and reading lamp next to each bed would have been very convenient. It's nice to read a little book in the evening and then not have to get up to turn off the headlights.
We were in town the weekend for a wedding. Sonnika helped us and was in contact early on to hear when we would be arriving. Lovely hospitable personality. Nice room and there was space for a baby cot. Enough facilities for the night. Beautiful courtyard area for the early morning coffee and quiet time. After that a lovely breakfast that was prepared with love. Will definitely recommend the place. Good value for money.

Functionally, because we were looking for a place to dress for a wedding and after the wedding we were looking for a place to sleep. Pretoria was too far to drive back. Thank you for a soft bed and hot shower. Our hostess was also very helpful and friendly.

We really had a nice stay at this guesthouse. Very friendly reception and they go out of their way to be helpful. We will definitely stay there again next year during the "Fly-in".
However, the maintenance needs some work. If you book to sit down for breakfast, you must make sure that it is paid in advance to ensure the meals, otherwise it may happen that it is not confirmed.
We stayed one night in a nice room with everything needed! The breakfast was excellent. Keep it up!

The service was good and the breakfast was top notch.
The hostess is very friendly and the guest house is just that something special. Very neat and clean. Will return to the guest house any day.
Owner is helpful and very friendly. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome. The room was clean and the bedding smelled fresh. In the hot weather, the fridge was very valuable to us. However, the room did not have air conditioning which should be a necessity in even hotter weather. The breakfast was delicious.

We booked a twin room but were upgraded to a double room for free. Very neat. Fridge and TV (with the standard hotel package). The breakfast was delicious and there was a large selection of breakfasts to choose from. Service was very good, owners/staff very helpful and friendly. Furthermore, a beautiful place to spend the night, a bit out of the way but worth the effort.
Sonnika was very accommodating and pleasant.
A few more DStv channels would be good. Thank you for safe parking and good service.

The only thing i would recommend would be that towels are changed each not just refolded and brought forth again. The welcome and hospitality has been wonderful!
I looked at a few guesthouses on the internet that were a lot more expensive, but also didn't want to provide just one night's accommodation. LekkeSlaap and Gorgeous Gecko responded immediately to my inquiry, and we got exactly what we wanted - clean, comfortable overnight facilities at an affordable price by friendly owners.
I'm definitely coming back. Had a great time!

We were at Gecko Guest House for 6 days, and it was an experience. It's so clean and the hostess and her whole family are just a pleasure; they are very friendly and always there for anything you might need. It was so delicious that we booked in advance for next year. We just have to rest there again.

One always reads the reviews and wonder if all could be true, well my stay was most comfortable and if I should find that I am in the area again - I shall certainly stay again. It was peaceful and quiet and all who I came into contact with were most helpful. Loved my stay. Thank you.
