Calm atmosphere. Nice farm life. Children also went to give milk to the lambs with the managers. Very hospitable and cute.
An exceptional few days on an exceptional farm of exceptional people. It was so nice to see the stars in absolute silence and darkness as if you could touch them. There are so many clearings and humps and places to walk and explore. The house (Gemsbok) was spotless and fully equipped with everything that might be needed. The hostess, Narina,'s communication was great and lightning fast and friendly, and if you forgot something, go for a spin at the mall.
Booked only one night as were passing through but the moment we arrived we wished we had booked for three! Lovely sense of humour, got the feeling it was a happy place before we even arrived and we were right! Pet friendly so appreciated!! The hot tub was the highlight! Excellent value for money! Loved, loved, loved this place and will definitely be back to spend time here!
Grootwaterfall is an incredible experience. Best Karoo experience ever. The accommodation is stylish and comfortable. It was like discovering a deeply hidden, unexpected, valuable treasure. Our expectations were totally exceeded.
Campsite was great, with a bay area. Bathroom neat and tidy, hosts go out of their way to welcome you and make you feel at home. Very peaceful setting. It feels like a long road to get there, but worth it.

Beautiful gem in the Karoo, just a little far, about 50km of gravel road that one has to cover.
The owners of the place were very hospitable and the house / lodge where we lived was very clean and very well furnished. The location is very remote, but it's the perfect place to recharge batteries and really get away from the noise of everyday life. We had a great time relaxing, and it will be the perfect long weekend with friends or family.
What can we say? We will definitely see Grootwaterfall again in the future. Danie and Narina, as well as their children who visited during our visit, are all really wonderful people and incredibly hospitable. We even had the honor of spending New Years with them as family and friends. We stayed in Gemsbok and it was everything and more we could have asked for, fully equipped with everything you would need. The "sundowner" ride on the tractor, milking the sheep and throwing feed was an absolute highlight for our boy and he can't stop talking about the sheep. Thank you very much for the nice time and we will see you again.
What a wonderful and enjoyable experience. The host and his wife were so hospitable and welcoming. The accommodation is tidy and everything needed is available. There was so much attention paid to small details which only made our (too short) time there even more enjoyable. Despite the dirt road getting a little long, we will definitely turn there again - and next time we will definitely stay longer. Thank you very much for an unforgettable experience.

A warm welcome that makes you feel at home right away. Beautiful surroundings, peaceful. The accommodation is basic but has everything you need and was very neat and clean. Electricity is obtained from solar power, which was enough to run the fridge and lights. There is no TV and cell phone reception is poor - perfect for switching off and unwinding. We really enjoyed our time there and would definitely like to visit again. The farm paths are also nice to explore on mountain bikes. And there is a farm pond where we cooled down nicely. It's also a working farm and the goats and sheep can be seen everywhere.

After a weekend on the farm, it is very difficult to get behind a computer again. You feel how life goes with you from that first cup of coffee until you go to sleep again. And take your binoculars and walking shoes, there are lots of birds and wildlife to look at. Or take your bike and explore the farm.
It was so quiet and lovely to be able to stay on a working sheep farm. So nice to read the welcome signs the closer you get to the farmstead. Narina and Danie went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Perfect location, we wanted to stay on a farm outside of town.
We are so glad we booked our stay at Grootwaterval Farm. Perfect stop over to the Cape, Narina and Danie were excellent hosts. Accommodation was perfect, clean and neat with all the utensils required. Pity we could not stay longer but this place is an absolute must.
We had a great time, thank you. The silence and seclusion of the place make it the ideal retreat to rest for those of us trying to escape the hustle and bustle. The tranquility of the surroundings even had the newborn babies at ease. We will do so again for sure.

We had a great time at Groot Watervalplaas and especially enjoyed the Karoo silence and the beautiful starry nights. The highlight of our visit was the hospitality of the Grootwaterval family - they went out of their way to make us feel at home and really gave us a taste of their lives with trips to feed the sheep, explore the farm and to also enjoy a beautiful cocktail on the hill at sunset. It was the perfect break to end 2020. The biggest thanks to the family who rescued us when we were stuck on the dirt road - we are infinitely grateful!
Grootwaterval farm is a paradise for anyone with a love for the Karoo. You can walk for kilometers in the field with the most beautiful views. It is ideal for people who want to switch off a bit and just enjoy farm life or stargazing. The cottages are wonderfully furnished and the Gemsbok cottage has a lovely veranda. The Le Grange family are wonderful, hospitable people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It's like visiting old friends. We will see Groot Waterfall again.
Upon arrival we were welcomed very kindly. The farm is lovely, there is a swimming pool at the main house. Our place was well equipped. The Uncle and Aunt always helpful. Braai suits, homemade, cookies and jam just like the Karoo can do it. Children fed the lambs milk, they enjoyed it very much. Rest for the soul. Thank you very much.
My wife and I stayed at Groot Waterval on our way from Johannesburg to our wedding in Cape Town. After 1000 km of driving we couldn't have asked for a better welcome. The owners took us (and our two puppies) out with the tractor and wagon to watch the sunset with drinks in hand. The next morning they made us a delicious breakfast. The house was neat and clean. Watching the stars from the Gemsbok home's hot tub that night was incredible! We will definitely stay there again. Thank you very much!
