269 guests' feedbackI had a very nice stay.
We had 3 cabins for our stay. It was such a fabulous, close-to-nature experience. Accommodation was comfortable, and amenities were great.
Such a nice little place to lift your feet and relax. Best part: there was a gun safe! Lol, did not expect that. Having an evening braai and sitting around playing board games was the best time we had in a long time. Jurie checked in after hearing about water issues to make sure everything was still fine.
Was comfortable, quiet and peaceful. Host friendly and helpful. A wonderful forest atmosphere. Was entertained by the 'Bushbabies' in the evening. Really enjoyed it!
Had a great stay and slept well at Hornbills Nest.
It was so much fun; we really enjoyed the environment. The place was perfect for us.
Jurie was so accommodating, and we had such a wonderful time! The atmosphere of relaxation, and having clean bedding and great chalets, was just the best. We will definitely refer all international guests to Hornbill's Nest! Thank you so much, Jurie and Wendy!
We enjoyed the stay. Very clean and neat. Will definitely recommend it to friends.
It's been a great few days. The chalets are well equipped and there is everything one could need on a woodland getaway. We made great use of the swimming pool and barbecue and were able to walk to the Kruger Wildlife Park's wire fence every morning to see the animals drinking water. We received home visits from the kudus, zebras, ibex, meerkats and warthogs on a daily basis. The Krokodilbrug gate is also only half an hour away (tarred road) for visiting a wildlife park. NB: Chalet 1 is closest to the climbing frame if you would travel with children.
Thank you very much, the place was fantastically beautiful and clean. The people were very helpful and friendly. Thanks for everything.
As usual it was amazing, we enjoyed it so much again with our grandchildren. They were surprised by the animals. The weather cooperated very nicely. The Bos restaurant's food was very tasty.
We really had a great time. The place is perfect for us, offers you everything you need, and the facilities are really good. And of course all the animals that move through there are awesome. We "loved" it. Furthermore, it is wonderfully quiet and you can relax there and cool off in the splash pool if you get hot.
We had a very nice stay.
We had a great time. Thanks, will go again.
This was our second family visit to Hornbill's and absolutely ideal for us. The grandchildren were delighted by the many animals in the area and even swam even though the water was still freezing cold. The parking spaces' shade net and the new children's swings and wooden house are good improvements. The many mosquitoes for this time of year were unexpected - perhaps mosquito nets in the bedrooms could help solve this annoyance.
For our family it was fantastic to be there every moment!
Fantastic and breathtaking. Very comfortable. Children had a lot of fun with the wildlife that came to see them.
Enjoyed the stay and had wonderful sightings of animals both in Marloth Park and along the fence bordering the Kruger Park.
We had a great stay and will definitely stay there again. Everything was clean and tidy. Well equipped from the kitchen to the chalet. Practically laid out. Many animals came to visit our chalet, which made the experience even more colorful.
Yes, we had a nice stay.
Very friendly and clean.
We enjoyed our stay, the chalet is well equipped and comfortable. Being able to see animals walking freely around the chalets was the biggest highlight. The only drawback was insufficient lighting, as all the lights inside and outside are very dim.
We really enjoyed our stay, but the hot water in the morning ran out after one person washed. The condition of the animals is due to drought. Thanks.
Stay was pleasant.
Each chalet has its own kitchen, but it is not inside the chalet. The kitchens for the chalets are all gathered on the ground floor in the middle of the complex. Full marks for the idea, but the chalet we stayed in was very rough and not well finished. The boards used for the interior finishing in the chalet were not even sanded. It is too close to the main road, and the noise of trucks and cars during the day is extremely disturbing and breaks the silence that one wants in the bushland. However, at night, from 22:00 to 07:00, it is quiet. It's one of those places I'll say: I've been there, I've done it, and got the T-shirt, but not again.
Very nice for a group of people. Plenty of room to hang out.
Beautiful tree house with an ice cold pool. Everything you might need is there. Will definitely visit there again.
We are regular guests at Hornbill's Nest Tree Top chalets and prefer it as the best spot in Marloth.
The chalets are layed out so nicely and I was so impressed by how well equipped everything was. The location is great, and Jurrie is very hands-on. We were welcomed by so many animals. The pool is perfect. Just really overall 10/10.
Fantastic getaway weekend. Everything one needs. Such practical accommodation with the kitchen below the braai area, as well as the bathroom facilities below the braai area.
Very close to the Crocodile Bridge, Kruger National Park. Close to shops, restaurants and other amenities. Each cabin has its own shower, bathroom and braai facility. Wonderful place to go with friends or family where at night you can all gather around the boma enjoying a nice plate of braai food.
This is our place of choice, try not to stay anywhere else in Marloth if possible.
The zebras received us. The kudus came to visit and walked right under the chalets, the warthogs followed them. Then the ibex and her little one spent the whole evening feeding around the boma where we barbecued and visited. The interaction with the animals was the highlight of the weekend for the grandchildren.
Good spot for animals to walk through and experience.
Despite having to regrettably make a number of changes to our booking, both LekkeSlaap and Wendy the owner were incredibly accommodating, and super helpful throughout. The chalet was very charming and comfortable, spacious and the extra blankets were hugely appreciated! We were impressed by the thoughtfulness of the extras here and there: additional lights for load-shedding, the secure lockbox for keys, a super-well equipped kitchenette, a very cute looking plunge pool (which we sadly didn't use) and a really nice lapa/communal braai area. We'd love to stay again one day! And our kids fell in love with the tame bushbuck roaming the grounds - added bonus! Excellent location too for access from and to Kruger.
Everything you need in a unique setup.
The animal life was amazing. Facilities were amazing so among nature. Located close to als.
Everything and more that we paid for.
Jurie is very pleasant and hospitable! We will definitely go back again!
Nice and wild, but not always possible to drive all the dirt paths with a sedan vehicle.
Hosts are very friendly and helpful. We loved our stay at Hornbill's Nest Tree Top chalets and will definitely be back soon. Good value for money.
Very peaceful environment and close to KNP, will recommend Hornbill to friends and family.
The house no. 3, where we lived, has a nice view of the field and trees where we could see many animals and plants. Jurie was also available when we needed him and he always made sure we had electricity during load shedding. I will definitely visit the place again. The tranquility of the environment is food for one's soul.
We as a family with 2 teenagers had a comfortable stay.
Nice place to stay, facilities good. Nice to see and feed tame animals. Very relaxing. Will definitely go again.
Good service and quick attention to our requests.
Very nice, affordable accommodation with lots of animals.
The braai from the other chalet which is built directly under no. 3 in a bad place, because that smoke blows everything into no. 3, which makes it bad. One cannot enter the chalet with that smoke in there.
Comfortable, clean facilities and located close to Kruger National Park.
Wonderful atmosphere.
Not suitable for the elderly/disabled. Lots of stairs.
Just think they might plan more for mosquitoes: e.g. mosquito nets.
Everything we needed was there.
The stay was wonderful. All that was wrong was that we had to figure out the key box's code ourselves. The water was lukewarm every night and we never had a hot shower or bath. The house is a bit close to the road and we could hear all the cars driving by, so there was only peace late at night. Furthermore, it was great to know that the power was coming on during load shedding.
I was disappointed with not seeing animals, only 3 or 4 bucks.
If you don't mind sharing your accommodation with a family of rats running around inside at night then you will be fine.
Our accommodation was clean, but the mosquitoes carried us away, so the windows had to remain closed. Then there is also loadshedding, it is extra dark, because there is only 1 light that we discovered in the kitchen. Nowhere is there a schedule of what time the power goes out, our light at the barbeque was out of order. What about mesh in front of the room window? There are an awful lot of spider cracks in the bedroom hence all the mosquitoes, I believe they breed there.
Wonderful stay. Good value for money. Very well furnished in a quiet atmosphere. The right place to come and relax but also enough movement to not feel isolated. Host very friendly and helpful, even during load shedding.
I recommend staying here.
Everything is provided - only food and clothing are needed. They think of everything from towels to dish soap. Very considerate. Safe, tidy, friendly, will definitely visit there again.
Very nice place very clean and tidy will definitely book there again.
Friendly staff, neat and affordable accommodation.
If you are looking for a small piece of paradise, then this is it. Bokkies, zebras, blue wildebeest and a variety of other game species literally on your doorstep. Shower below the chalet makes you feel part of the environment. We really enjoyed the stay.
It was a very nice visit, even through loadshedding there are gas facilities that still allow you to enjoy a hot shower/bath and cup of coffee. It's the second year in a row that we stay there and will definitely visit again next year.
Very safe.
The unit is really neat and has everything one would need. The owner was very friendly and helpful and you could really feel that if there were any problems, he would address them immediately. We will definitely use them again.
Cute accommodation, neat and clean. Layout cutely laid out.
Chalets are neat and clean. Thandi is fantastic and she made sure that our place was always tidy.
The chalet is nice inside with almost all the basics provided. Kitchen area is small, but nice we had everything we needed just brought groceries. We were well welcomed by the manager on arrival, thank you.
The maid was very friendly and the owner made us feel very welcome.
Would recommend anytime, we will probably book again for next year.
Friendly and helpful service. Close to the Kruger Gate which is very convenient. Loved all the animals visiting the chalets - great entertainment for all. The setup was quite strange with the shower and the kitchen not being part of the unit.
The chalet had everything we needed for load shedding as well. Interior was a bit dark, but spent hardly any time there. Outside balcony and braai areas great.
Children really enjoyed it, a nice place for a break from the city.
It's a fantastic holiday destination.
Owner is very helpful.
Everything was neat and clean. Nice stay.
Our second time. Sadly we missed our hosts this time round. All the same we enjoyed our stay.
Lots of wildlife to see. The stay was very nice. We really enjoyed the pool. Hope to visit again soon.
The kudus, bushbucks and warthogs visit there every day.
Great place to base ourselves for outings in the area.
The chalets were so nicely serviced! It was just such a nice place! I didn't want to go home!
Definitely value for money. Very well located. Management is very friendly and helpful. Would recommend Hornbill's Nest to anyone. I will definitely go back again.
Clean and neat. Loved the animals that were there.
Good experience for us with all the wildlife that was there.
We felt safe and secluded in our rustic accommodation, had everything we needed and were pleasantly surprised by the number of animals that came to visit. Two bathrooms per chalet are really handy with young kids and nice that you can quickly wash your hands at the braai area. The owners are friendly and informative and quick to assist should you need anything! Will definitely recommend Hornbills Nest.
We enjoyed it very much, it was nice and quiet with all the animals.
Thank you very much for a nice long weekend away! Everything was nice and clean and the owner received us nicely. Would stay here again anytime and recommend it to everyone.
We were a large group with small kids and teenagers and we were all comfortably accommodated. The place is clean and the people are friendly. We absolutely enjoyed our stay! Love the place, love the animals. Would definitely recommend it and we are looking forward to our next stay.
I will definitely visit them again. Especially for a large group of people. But I will also go there if we will also be only 4 guests.
Thank you very much for letting us stay with you again. We and our children really enjoy your place! Clean and tidy accommodation with the most delicious atmosphere! Thank you! See you again when we come your way!
If you need TV to enjoy your holiday, not the ideal place. But if sitting on the stoep enjoying a drink and watching the sunset or sunrise, listening to nature and watching the wildlife is your thing Hornbill's Nest is perfect.
Chalets nice and tidy. Value for your money.
Can recommend for any people and age. Very child-friendly place.
Very clean, peaceful environment, bushland holiday. Has everything one needs. Everyone is friendly and helpful.
So lekker wegbreek gehad! Alles wat jy nodig het en nog steeds privaat. Kan nie genoeg kry van Hornbills Nest nie!
Very neat and gives the feeling of being in the woods. Would just love to see more animals there.
Owners are always friendly and helpful. A real bird lover's paradise. Strongly recommended.
You have everything at your disposal.
Owner of the place is very decent and makes sure guests are comfortable. Can't wait to go again.
Lovely host and a great place to stay. Has everything you need. The animals came to visit us, giraffe, bokkies, bush babies, warthog, was magical.
We will definitely be back!
If you want to rest this is the right place to go. We saw many animals and heard the lions in the evening. Will go there again.
Everything needed for a wonderful holiday was available. Thank you very much Jury!
The premises are pretty clean. Rooms are well appointed, will definitely go back.
I would definitely recommend the place.
If you enjoy watching TV or having WiFi this place is definitely not for you, since there is no TV or WiFi.
Aparte kombuis werk nie so lekker nie en dit is piepklein.
Diens en plekkie was netjies en gesellig.
Owner is involved and makes regular visits to make sure everything is OK. Place is very nice and comfortable and the fans and air-con are definitely a great convenience that many places don't have and the nearby splashpool is ideal for hot days. Would definitely recommend the place.
Al wat kan verbeter is die matrassie op die beddens. Dit is deurgeslaap en nie gemaklik nie. Andersins is dit ’n pragtige plek met alles wat jy wil hê naby jou.
Very well equipped self-catering units with everything you will need already there. Rooms are cooled and the wildlife greets you at your front door in the morning and at night.
It was by far the best value for money. Everything is there and the wildlife roams freely. The children enjoyed themselves in the pool. Will definitely go there more often and take someone else with me each time. Nobody bothered us. Best best best. The fan and air conditioning made you forget you were in the hot Kruger. I would say you can just go there and you don't even have to go to the game park.
Our stay was very nice and rested peacefully
The owner very helpful and friendly.
We just loved the location and the animals that come to visit. The Bush Babies are the best!
The stairs to the sleeping place can be challenging for seniors and the kitchenette down on the ground level is a shame, but you can have a great time once you get used to it.
We had a nice stay. One soon gets used to the stairs. In the summer heat, the air conditioning saved us. We were received kindly and when our kitchen light bulb blew the host was there within minutes to replace it. Will stay at Hornbill's Nest again in the future.
The service from Jurie was great and friendly.
Very safe and good value for money
A lizard came in one afternoon, that's not a problem, we were in the woods and assumed wild animals would do what they wanted. We caught him stuck in the tub and released him outside. Struggling to get out, the licorice walked around on top of the walls, wardrobes and bathroom ceiling (open storage space inside the house) looking for a way out. With that, he kicks off a lot of mouse droppings that have long accumulated on top of the spots. It lands on and in the beds, pillows, all over the floor. I know it's not normal to see the mouse droppings on top of the wardrobes, but it's still something I don't look for in my accommodation.
Very enjoyable stay well worth it.
Awesome. Family absolutely loved it. Will return.
Everything is tidy and everything you need for your stay is there. Nice stay and swimming.
The stay was quite enjoyable however I would recommend that the owner maybe put up a play ground area for the children. Ultimately there was nothing for the children to do.
We had a great time! There was everything we needed and a lovely pool to cool off. Would definitely recommend it.
See stars.
Very nice to see wildlife all around you. Everything is also so peaceful.
Wow, where to start. We arrived there in the late afternoon, after driving the wrong way, because the address is Steenbokstraat 3547, but the entrance to the chalets is only at 3548! We had no idea where the key or the treehouses were and even though I called Jurie I still didn't know where to go. Luckily there was already another family booked in who went to show us where our chalet was. On the way there, my string of freshwater pearls caught on the bars and broke. Most of the pearls fell under the floor. However, I was able to save enough for half a bracelet. I was shocked to see that the beautiful pool that the helpful family was in is not at every chalet, but that it is the entire complex's pool! 4 Families therefore share a splash pool of 3 by 2 meters approx. It's ridiculous in such a warm place as Marlothpark! Our chalet had pretty steep stairs to the top (like all the chalets), but that wasn't a problem for us as we were excited to be staying in a tree house! The chalet is terribly hot and only the master bedroom has insufficient air conditioning. The room where my son had to sleep was so hot that on the second night he carried his mattress into our room, so he could at least get some sleep. There are fans, lots of fans, but they just move the hot air around and do nothing to the temperature. The mattresses are good quality and the pillows too. We slept well. However, the furniture is meager and just boards attached to the walls for bedside tables and a headboard. There are no bed mats. The dressing room is just the corridor between the 2 rooms and nothing special. The lighting, everywhere in the chalet, but specifically in the dressing room, is so poor that a person who gets up early to go to the Wildlife Park can barely see to blow hair and apply make-up. Also, please bring your own hairdryer as the one provided is so dirty and sticky that I didn't want to touch it. However, there are enough double-point, two-point and round-point connectors for every possible device. The 2 bathrooms were a mystery to us, but luckily the friendly guests in chalet 3 told us that the small house under the chalet is the 2nd bathroom. It stank so much of the mold there, that we instead just bathed in the upstairs bathroom. Who wants to walk out the front door, climb 2 sets of stairs in public and then shower in a mosquito filled bathroom anyway? The bottom bathroom light stays on if you want to barbecue, because it's the same switch and the walls are not built up to the top, so the mosquitoes swarm in the bathroom. My husband did try to take a shower there, but the water was uncontrollable - it was burning or freezing cold. When he told Jurie about it, Jurie barely noticed him! The upstairs bathroom sink stank from the drain. Drain cleaner is apparently not something the owner is aware of. The extremely thin single ply toilet paper, which rolls down into the bin, was not pleasant. This is the first 3 star chalet where I come across single ply toilet paper. The hand washing towel hangs above the roll of toilet paper and when you wash your hands, the toilet paper gets wet when you dry your hands. The towels left fluff on us. The biggest shock was that the kitchen is a day's journey on horseback. You have to go down stairs and go to eat in a separate building. There it is so small that 2 people cannot be inside at the same time. Morning coffee meant going down stairs in your pyjamas, making coffee and carrying it back up the stairs on a tin tray, which was constantly twisting. It was very inconvenient! The kitchen is not well equipped and for 3 stars I at least expected glass wine glasses and not green plastic glasses. None of the knives and forks are part of the same set and neither are the plates. There is no cup to pour water into the kettle and it's a daunting task to try to fill it under the sink tap. I just poured water cup by cup into the kettle. There are no ladles and no grater and scissors. The brick drawer is incredibly difficult to open and close and if you don't push it in exactly straight, it won't close at all. The kitchenette door closes all the time, then you are trapped in extreme heat with 1 by 1/2 meters of space to move. There are no ice trays in the freezer. The bins were never emptied over the time we stayed there, 3 nights. The lights on the paths are connected to a timer and by the 3rd night there was a mistake, because then we were shrouded in darkness and had to walk to the kitchen to make late night coffee. Fortunately, the next morning, the lights were burning brightly during the day! The braai area is quite acceptable, with enough light at the braai, but you cannot eat there after dark, because the table is not lit at all. It helps a little to leave the downstairs bathroom door open, but the stench from that bathroom makes it unbearable and that's why we just went to eat on the lovely porch. It was really a very lovely porch, with beautiful benches and chairs, as well as a large enough table. We enjoyed sitting there and visiting and peering through the treetops. This was my favorite part of the chalets. Do not lock the security gate! I repeat, do not! You can get it open from the outside with difficulty and from the inside it is almost an impossible task, because the key does not fit in the hole from the inside, so you have to push your hand through the gate and struggle to open the thing from the outside. The icing on the cake was when my husband fell through the ground last night, into the sewer. Yep, like a sinkhole (stink hole). He was almost badly hurt and the next day, the day of our departure, when Jury made his first appearance, he apologized and immediately rushed to see how great the damage was to his land. He didn't even ask if my husband was hurt. We were still there for the recovery process, lol! A thin zinc was placed over the hole and covered with cement on top. Please be careful in the braai area of chalet 4. You will fall through the sink! Jury, this is for you: Your idea of tree houses is a huge draw. It's beautiful surroundings and lovely dark in the evening, which makes for a wonderful night's rest. However, do the following: Put a sign at 3547 indicating that Hornbill's Nest is further on. Meet your guests. If you can't be there, ask a friend to stand in. A tired, confused guest is not a happy guest. Build a splash pool for each chalet. This will make people flock to your place. People who love water are usually even more excited when they hear that they have a private pool. Warn people with disabilities about the steep stairs. Also overweight people, because the paths are very narrow. Put air conditioning in the 2nd room and replace the old fashioned air conditioning in the master bedroom. Replace the light bulbs with brighter bulbs, especially the one by the dressing table. Specify that there is an outdoor toilet with a shower and put it on a separate switch, so one can keep the light off to keep the mosquitoes out. Clean up the place! So is the drain in the upstairs bathroom. People brush their teeth at the sink, spit in the sink and then it gets rotten later as household after household brushes there teeth. Get double layer toilet paper and don't give the towels Sta-soft. It dries better without Sta-soft anyway. Put another kettle and cups in the chalet for morning coffee. You don't really mind that you have to cook separately from the chalet, but morning coffee is important. Also look at my complaints about the kitchen's equipment. Maybe a hook on the door to keep the door open? Have a look at that security gate. If I was alone, I'd be stuck there until you came back from the weekend! Fix that hole in the ground yourself. Your workers are fooling you with the assignments you give them. That's why they didn't throw out the trash during your absence from the chalets. Thank you very much for the peace and quiet that we were able to experience with you. The stoep was truly beautiful for us and we will see you again one day, as soon as you have at least taken some of my suggestions to heart.
Air conditioner inadequate. Floors too creaky. Will use thicker boards.
The chalets and kitchens are fully equipped and functional. The animals that frequent the areas around the chalets are beautiful, especially the lesser bush babies that eat bananas from your hand. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy yourself. Also well located. Only 15 min from the Kruger Park.
Lovely among the trees.
What a pleasure, rested so well. Everything needed was available. Everything clean and tidy. Location perfect and no unnecessary noise. Will definitely visit the place again.
We had a great time and nice rest. The stay had the best atmosphere.
I would definitely book and stay at Hornbill's Nest Tree Top chalets again, and definitely recommend to friends and family.
We had a great stay. We relaxed and the property is beautiful.
Very nice and lekker atmosphere.
Clean, comfortable, nice setup. People around you but not in your face. Enough individual places to visit on the stoepie and under the stoepie. Safe play place for the children. Will definitely visit again.
We had a very nice stay. However, it is designed more for families and not for people who may prefer privacy in second bedroom.
Lovely getaway. No noise. Nobody who bothers you when you spend the day at the chalet. Definitely value for money.
Het baie lekker gebly, perfekte plek om te ontspan en net weg te kom van die realiteit. Beplan om vinnig weer te kom.
Very nice stay. It was perfect for us - nothing we missed. Jurie personally came to greet on arrival as well as on departure and provided pleasant company. Privileged to enjoy the wildlife like this between the places of stay. Would love to stay here again anytime.
Well located, animals pass right under your nose. You can walk or drive to the river and see what the elephants and other animals are doing! Great.
Nice clean place. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Animals came to say hello every now and then while we were grilling. Will definitely go again.
Beautiful layout, very clean and very tidy unit. In the kitchen we lacked nothing. We will definitely stay here again, as well as recommend Hornbill's Nest to friends and family.
We will definitely recommend this place to people (and we already have). We will stay there again any time.
We booked 2 extra nights and will definitely return.
What a pleasant place! We and especially our children (3 and 6) loved the place. The animals come to say hello at your visiting area. The owner came to introduce himself and made sure we were comfortable! Is nice and close to the Kruger Wildlife Park for day visits. We enjoyed ourselves tremendously in the pool during the hot times of the day and the air conditioning in the unit was just so winner! We somehow forgot one of our debit cards there (didn't realize) and the owner went out of his way to get our card back to us! If you enter the physical address on Google maps it takes you directly to the location. We will book here again! Looking forward to our next visit!
We had a great rest and had a great time with the owner. It's a fantastic quiet destination with all the necessary amenities. I would recommend it to anyone who loves nature and the outdoors.
Unfortunately it rained terribly the first night and it leaked into the master bedroom onto our suitcase and all our clothes were wet and some of my wife's clothes were stained. Otherwise the stay was peaceful and Jurie helped where he could.
Place was neat, orderly and well packed.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hornbill's Nest Tree Top Chalets. Other guests friendly and no problems at all. Lovely that Jurie comes around to check on a regular basis and very helpful too.
We were very impressed with the accommodation. It's value for money and absolutely fantastic. Will definitely stay there again!
Great experience, great host, pleasant location near shops and restaurant. Helped me with all my matters. Would recommend this place for an authentic stay.
We had a very nice time during our stay at Hornbill's Nest. Good, neatly equipped units. Owner very friendly and helpful. The cooking and visiting facilities work excellently. Will stay there again and recommend the accommodation 100%.
Our experience was really enjoyable. Will definitely visit again.
We had an awesome stay! If we ever up at Marloth Park again, we will definitely stay at Hornbill's. Owners are friendly and very accommodating. You can feel that you in the bush, with bushbabies living in the trees nearby. Game walk through the plot creating a unique experience.
It was a wonderful experience for us as a family. The owner came to introduce himself and to hear if everything is in order. Everything was clean and neat.
See rating.
We really enjoyed our time at Hornbill's. The houses are located close to the main road, but the traffic becomes less after 18:00. The KNP is a 20-minute drive by tarmac from here. Unfortunately, you cannot park near your cottage, and you have to carry all your luggage yourself to the house. This may be a problem for the elderly. The owner, Jurie, did everything in his power to make us feel comfortable. We will definitely visit again.
We enjoyed our stay very much and will visit you again in the future.
Very tidy and fully equipped with everything you need for self-catering accommodation. Definitely another place we will visit in the future. Many thanks Hornbills Nest for an unforgettable vacation!
The place was great and the staff was so welcoming.
Would highly reccomend this place to anyone. Rooms are spacious and well equiped with aircons and fans. Back up lights should power outage occur also available. Cleanliness: the mattresses and bedding was not very clean. We do understand that you are in the bush and can expect anything, but in Chalet 1 everyone staying in there was bitten with what appeared to be bed bugs (could have been something else) but it was really, really bad. Other than that, would stay there again.
We had a wonderful stay and the animals were very cute for the children.
I can really recommend this affordable getaway accommodation. We really enjoyed it. It was wonderful to stay in nature where everything is wild. Appreciate nature again! We would love to visit again! Ps. Everything was very neat and clean. Owner and his wife are very nice and friendly.
You will have to look far and wide for a better place for value for money. Well done.
Nice place to stay at, very hot.
It's just a shame that the property is so close to the main road. It only quiets down after 18:00 or 19:00.
See stars.
It was really fun, we and the children enjoyed the tree house very much, enjoyed ourselves and swam, the setting was very nice and worked well.
We like to visit Marloth Park and this time really was an experience. The stoep between the tree tops and the wildlife underneath your feet gives a sense of 'being' with nature. Thank you very much, Johan.
It was very peaceful with ibex grazing around the camp all day. Other animals also came for a visit such as mongoose, muskellunge cat, and night monkeys. Will definitely stay there again.
Tranquility in nature, close enough to the Crocodile Bridge Gate for day visits to the Kruger National Park.
Will recommend to all my friends and family.
The accommodation is awesome. Exactly what I was looking for for a KNP holiday.
Beautiful place that is well appointed.
The place was very clean, very tidy and had everything we needed.
Best place to visit again with friendly staff and owner (Jurie).
Me and my husband went to Hornbill's Nest for a getaway weekend. It was very neat and spacious. The kitchen on the ground floor works excellent as we sat there and braaied every night. Really a lovely experience and break away!
Very friendly owner, very neat and well maintained.
Thank you very much Jurie for a wonderful few days we were able to spend there. The chalet was neat and clean with everything you need, including clean bed linen and towels. Also have our house, but enjoy what remains behind the fire extinguisher. Will definitely return again.
Very nice owners, immediately made us feel at home. Very cute setting and nice houses. A very nice and good forest getaway!
Lekker plekkie vir klein gesinne, maar ook groepe aangesien 4 chalets daar is. Baie netjies en sal beslis weer gaan. Netjies en skoon, baie gasvry.
The tree house experience in the area directly next to the Kruger National Park was something special! Apart from the natural surroundings of Marloth Park, there are also the necessary little shops to replenish supplies. The splash pool at Hornbill's was an absolute bonus in the heat! Will definitely visit the park again.
Accommodation is basic, however has everything you need at a great price. My only concern, which was small as we were out in the park most times, is being so close to the main road. You hear all the cars pass by. Otherwise the owners are very friendly and it has a nice setup.
The place was very neat and well equipped for a quick getaway with the family.
The units are cute and fully equipped. The only recommendation I can make is that an air conditioning unit be installed in both rooms, not just the master bedroom. We hit the heat wave and at 43 degrees the 2nd room and bathroom were unbearably hot. Everyone hung out in our room. Otherwise, I can't fault anything. It was delicious.
We had a good stay in a natural environment and would definitely return.
Will definitely go again, very good value for money and beautiful place.
Beautiful and comfortable, well-equipped chalet. Very different from all places around, especially on the nature feeling. Ideal to be out of the world, connected back to earth but in comfort. Managers are very friendly giving that trust to the clients. They assisted us very well from booking until the end!
Very neat and clean. Everything one needs is there.
We had a very nice stay and the children enjoyed it.
We arrived there on the Friday on the holiday. The owner was not there, I called him but he was able to help me over the phone to say where I can find the keys. He explained everything to me over the phone about what was true. I was satisfied with that because he was not on the premises. That same evening he came to meet us and was very nice. We were very impressed with the chalets, clean and tidy. We didn't struggle at all.
Hornbill's Nest chalets are ideal for a large family or group where the members know each other well and occupy all the chalets. The braai areas of the different chalets are very close to each other and not private at all. Furthermore, it is not suitable for people with small children who stay in one chalet, as the parents have to keep the children still all the time to prevent them from running on the paths and disturbing the other people. Due to the fact that it is wood, you hear when people walk on the paths and stairs. Chalets are well equipped and the wood looks very nice though.
Was a really pleasant stay. Will stay there again. Owner and his wife very friendly and the ladies who clean too.
The setting is very beautiful and everything is very well equipped. The only negative aspects are that the road noise at peak times is very prevalent and it would have been great to have a shower upstairs instead of just a bath.
Comfortable, peaceful accommodation for family, with kudus, zebras en bush bucks that came to visit.
The owner came to introduce himself on the day of arrival and I really appreciated that. Everything you can think of is there and is neat and clean. I can highly recommend you! Well done!
See star-rating.
Clean, tidy accommodation, only you have to walk a bit far with your luggage but otherwise it was a pleasant stay.
I can recommend this place without a doubt.
Very clean - enjoyed the stay - just had some warm water issues as it was very cold that weekend.
Stunning en so rustig, gaan definitief oor 'n paar maande weer!
Hornbill's Nest is one of the best places to stay in Marloth Park, I would visit them again anytime.
Thank you. Very nice stay.
We had a great stay this is the 2nd time we have used Hornbill's Nest, will do it again.
Quickly to the Kruger, nice places to eat.
Even though we are people who prefer absolute privacy the setup at Hornbill which was more like a cluster was completely worth it. We enjoyed the splash pool and Jurie was very helpful. Very good customer service! Thanks!
We enjoyed the stay and atmosphere a lot.
Great location, close to the Crocodile River and the Kruger Wildlife Park. A bit inconvenient with the kitchen not being attached to the unit itself.
See stars.
We had a lovely stay at Hornbill's Nest which has been beautifully furnished and is well maintained. You only need food and clothing, the rest is taken care of. Jurie, thank you for your kind service and thank you, Thandi, for your help! We will definitely be back.
Very nice close to everything and Jurie was very friendly and helpful I wil stay there again.
We are satisfied, however the separate kitchen not part of main unit is a challenge. Privacy the challenge here. We couldn't really use the pool. Otherwise, we could see that effort is being made with the maintenance of structures.
Very nice stay. Thank you very much!
Too many stairs for disabled people, like myself. The kitchenette is far from the living area. You gave to head up and down stairs to get something from the kitchen.
Haven't been to such an interesting place in a long long time. Tranquil, warm reception and tidy, will definitely book again.
Absolutely unforgettable! June was very hospitable. Comfortable and neat place.
Very nice, place clean, and made good friends.
Children really enjoyed the pool! Loved the log cabins and whole set up. Jurie is a great and friendly host. Hope to visit there again soon!
It was really nice for us to be able to stay in a nice, safe and cute place. Our children don't get to talk about their visit to Marloth, but especially Hornbill's Nest. Thank you very much, will stay with you again.
Very hospitable friendly service. Lovely place to stay and visit. Beautiful and neat. Much more than we expected. Value for money.
The place is very neat and clean. Definitely value for money. I will definitely stay longer next time. Thank you!
It was very nice, will stay there again. Nice and warm, but the air conditioning in the chalet at least keeps it cool. having fun with friends. Would recommend it.
We had a great stay, it's a little inconvenient with the kitchen separate from the chalet, but it was very neat and clean.
It is a cute wooden house, neatly maintained. It is well located to visit the wildlife park.
Please see our rating.
Kitchen was very small. It was basically great for a sleepover.
Hornbill's Nest is a very quiet place. Wendy and Jurie were prepared to help with any challenges.
What a nice address. Neat and clean. Nothing to note. The owner was very friendly.
We would definitely recommend Hornbill's Nest, especially if you just want to rest and get away from the "rat race" Would definitely visit again!
Jurie is a particularly nice man with a very neat guest house. It was certainly one of our best long weekend hangouts. The facilities are more than adequate and one can forget about the hectic life. We will definitely use Hornbill's Nest again.
Very friendly place. Will be back for sure!
Many thanks to Jurrie and Wendy for your hospitality. we really had a peaceful weekend and being so close to nature just makes you grateful for the beautiful nature we have.
Very cozy place, especially for a group of people.
Units and kitchens are very neat and everything needed is available.
I would recommend it for sure. People have different needs but the price is very reasonable compared to some of the other places for 4 people. Once again the weather is so nice that it didn't intrude on our wonderful time.
The children really enjoyed staying in a "tree house". And it was a great treat to see so much wildlife on your "front porch".
Delicious and affordable. So sorry it's so dry. I feel so sorry for the animals. Planning to go again, but definitely not again in November.
There are only 4 units, and this gives a very peaceful atmosphere. Everything is clean and tidy. The service we got from LekkeSlaap and Hornbill's Nest is just "wow". We will definitely book there again.
What a wonderful experience to see wildlife on your front porch. It's very quiet and a real forest experience. Very close to the Kruger National Park. You can also go for a nice walk to the Crocodile River and even see manatees and ospreys.
We were a family of 3, stayed in chalet 4. Everything we could possibly need was available in the extremely neat and comfortable chalet and kitchen. The atmosphere was peaceful and the owner (Jurie) and his staff were helpful and extremely friendly. We would recommend Hornbill's Nest to anyone.
It was very relaxing. It was breathtaking how you can almost touch the wild animals... For nature lovers this is a must. Breathtaking and picturesque.
Love the hut with the decoration. Very cozy. We will definitely recommend to others.
Will visit there again! Would recommend anytime. Good value for money.
The fact that the kitchen is not part of the cottage is uncomfortable as the stairs are stilted and a hazard. It's an awkward setup. I suggest that a kettle, mugs and glasses with a small fridge should also be placed in the cottage. The kitchen is then ready for preparing the food.
There were problems with hot water in showers and this was not well resolved favorably by Jurie. On the contrary, he was of the opinion that if we are not at peace we can just pack up and go home. I will never go back again!
What a beautiful place! Value for money...with very nice people. Children really enjoyed it there, will definitely recommend it to all our friends and family. See you again soon.
Hornbill's Nest is a nice peaceful place, I will definitely go back for a weekend or maybe again in December.
We enjoyed it very much! Neat places.
Wonderful visit, would definitely recommend to everyone.
It's the ideal place to stay for friends/families/newlyweds, etc. It's fairytale beautiful, Better than photos could describe! And dirt cheap! My husband and I are definitely planning another occasion to visit Honrbill's Nest!
The family really enjoyed the outing. Will recommend it to our friends and family, and are already planning our next visit! We'll see you soon.
Hornbills nest was the perfect place for us. The kitchen that's not in the chalet was not a problem for us, as it's near to the braai area and that was nice. It's quiet with only the birds song here. I would recommend Hornbills nest to any one.
Our house was so neat and clean, as was the kitchen. Definitely value for money. Me, my husband, and our friends will always remember the visit!
Jury was very friendly. Very nice in the forest,
Very "nice" with a nice braai, hot water, "comfy" bed, kitchen etc.
Very nice stay, and attention to detail is exceptional! Definitely an excellent choice.
Had a lovely stay at Hornbill's Nest. Service was great. Nice and clean. Lovely environment. Nice pool, and rooms.
Hornbills Nest was very pleasant. Clean and everything needed was on hand. The only issues we experienced where that there was not enough hot water for bathing and the fact that the dustbins were not emptied for 3 days. Other than that our stay was very pleasant and we will go back again and recommend it to friends.
The accommodation is very neatly furnished. Only negative point is that the accommodation is located a bit close to the main road, so traffic can be heard. The service was great.
Nice stay, just a pity the kitchen is not part of your accommodation. It is separate and you have to go up and down the stairs every time you want something in the kitchen. Only saw the owner once upon arrival, but the cleaning lady was helpful and friendly. Overall, it's a nice place to get away from the hustle and bustle.
