The cabin features 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Both bedrooms are furnished with 2 bunk beds each and an en-suite bathroom. One of the en-suite bathrooms is fitted with a shower and the other with a bath only. Bedding and bath towels are provided but guests are required to bring along their own swimming towels.
The open-plan living area features comfortable chairs, a cosy fireplace, a dining table and a kitchenette. The kitchenette is fully equipped for self-catering and contains a 2-plate stove, fridge, mini freezer, cutlery and crockery.
The cabin features board games and puzzles to be enjoyed in front of the fireplace on those cold wintery evenings. From the patio, guests can enjoy a cup of coffee on an early misty morning or take a dip in the splash pool in the hot afternoon.
There is a lovely fire pit for a nice braai and just hanging out in the evenings while you marvel at the stars. A portable braai and gazebo are also available for guests' use. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement.

We decided to break up a long journey with a few nights in the Free State. Jakkals se gat is remote, making for the most peaceful surroundings and starry skies. The cabin is well-appointed, with the only downside being the gas geyser is temperamental. Great braai area with a small splash pool for the hot summer afternoons. The friendly host went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed, from leading us to the cottage to providing firewood and fire lighters. Well worth visiting.
Everything and more. Group of girlfriends got together for the weekend. Peaceful, quiet, no one in sight. Safe, tidy and everything works. We were also able to borrow a crochet hook from Marietjie! We had a great time and our little fire burned almost the whole day. Definitely worth it.
For us as a family who really like the simplicity of life, the accommodation offered us exactly that. The hostess did so much more, from marshmallows, chocolates, cookies, biscuits, delicious coffee and milk in the fridge. We will definitely stay there again.
The photos do not do justice to how beautiful it is at Jakkals' hole. This is the first place to stay on the website that I can confidently give 5 stars in all categories. It's a lovely wooden house on a giant stone bench on top of a hill with a breathtaking 360° view. Jaco and Marietjie's kindness as well as the little things (like a nougat on everyone's bed) will definitely make us come back again. Thank you very much for 2 wonderful days!

Game viewing on the back of a bakkie can also be arranged at an additional fee.Please note that there is a gravel road leading to the establishment. Guests are required to enquire about the condition of the road, before arrival, as it could be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. The road is only suitable for a high-clearance vehicle.
The property is completely independent of Eskom and uses solar power. Please note that power is limited when it is raining or cloudy and that things like hair dryers that use a lot of power can only be used on full sunny days.
