What a warm welcome we received from our hostess! She treated us with homemade goodies, and generally went the extra mile to make our stay in her flatlet comfortable and very pleasant. And the location within a stone's throw of the penguin colony is ideal.
If I can say, had I known, I would've stayed a bit longer. It felt like home, away from home. They say it's the little things that say much, (the detail) that's what I noted @ Kara Mia.

Hennie is a wonderful hostess. We were spoiled with hospitality and more. Everything needed for cooking is there. Even a coffee machine and 'air fryer'! Very quiet environment. Very comfortable bed. Near good restaurant.
We arrived and the host greeted us and showed us the property. It's very nice with everything that you need to stay and enjoy. The location is perfect, just near enough to the sea and the penguin colony. When the bad weather struck, she even offered us a free night if we couldn't drive. Luckily, the weather improved and we could drive safely. The fact that the car was locked in the garage made the time with the storm better, without worrying about debris hitting the car.
Treated us to snacks on her birthday and biscuits. Was delicious!

We love Kara Mia and the host is just the best. Kara Mia is opposite the penguins and has a very relaxed and laid back vibe and beautiful views.
We had a lovely stay there. Hennie is incredibly friendly and helpful and the treats upon our arrival were delicious. The apartment is more than comfortable and you can see the sea from the kitchen and the bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need and the room is nice and big. The bathroom is adequate. We were able to park our vehicle in the garage. Kara Mia is opposite the penguin colony and you see the little guys just walking around outside the colony. Kara Mia is perfect if you want to get away from the city noise.

We were at Kara Mia for 8 days and had such a nice stay. It was spacious, clean, well equipped and the lock up garage a plus. We just walked to the penguins and geese. Hennie welcomed us with milk in the fridge and delicious food and biscuits in a plate. Free WiFi is provided. Really a recommendation from our side.
The unit is well equipped and everything imaginable is there. The hostess is friendly by nature and the treats that were placed there are special and tasteful. There is secure parking in a garage that provides access to the unit. The unit was clean and tidy, private and it was just a pleasure to be able to stay there. We will definitely visit there again.

We were pleasantly surprised by the spacious and extremely comfortable accommodation. Kindest person ever. Helpful with everything, no shortcomings, super comfortable, clean tidy place. Sit on the stoep and look over the sea, nice indoor braai facilities. From day one treat to the end, homemade snacks were a delightful surprise. Milk, coffee, sugar and biscuits were available for us. Clean linen and towels are provided. We just had a good rest and explored the places in and around Betties Bay, beautiful white beaches, penguins literally walk around in your garden and even the "load shedding" didn't bother us, nice light in the apartment. Hennie is a gem of a person and her place is just what we needed to rest well.
Kara Mia is our favorite place with Hennie being a most amazing hostess. Neat, clean and with everything you need including some really delightful extras. We will come back to this little gem time and time again.

An experience with all the penguins. Bettys Bay is beautiful and unspoiled.
On arrival there snacks set out and the surprise chocolates for each of us. The cottage was beautifully furnished and neat while Hennie was very conscious of the privacy of her guests. We will most definitely be back for another visit.

Kara Mia is a must visit. The penguins will steal your hearts. We were surprised with goodies and the marine life people. What caught my eye was the marine life, birds and natural beauty. The penguins were definitely the highlight of our visit there. As we left Kara Mia it felt like we were leaving something behind. Our weekend was unforgettable thanks to Mrs. of Fire hours.

We were spoiled with the most delicious sweets and biscuits, everything we needed was there. Despite loadshedding we were able to make coffee, had WiFi and bedside lamps worked. Very comfortable and very hospitable.

Hennie was a hostess in a million. Kara Mia is ideally located and has everything you can ask for. We truly enjoyed our stay and were touched by the little extras like the delicious home baked goodies on the counter. We cannot wait to return in January.

We stayed at Kara Mia for 5 nights during August. Hennie was so friendly and went out of her way to make everything comfortable for us. We enjoy nature and the location of Kara Mia is fantastic - a short walk from the stand and the penguin colony. The accommodation was very neat and comfortable with everything you need. With bad weather and strong winds at times, the indoor braai was very convenient and we enjoyed spending time there in the evenings. The biggest bonus was the lock up garage where my vehicle was safe and also conveniently accessible if I wanted to get something in the car. We were very impressed with Kara Mia and will definitely stay there again without hesitation.

Very quiet environment to rest.
The reception was warm and you feel like you are walking into family. The place itself is fully equipped with everything. Didn't even need to go and buy foil (we forgot to pack). Open a drawer and there it is! It was the happiest 2 days for me and my wife for 2022 so far!

Beforehand you also receive a welcome per cell phone from her. Location: Quiet, peaceful area directly next to the beach. Right opposite a penguin rehabilitation centre and next to one of two natural habitats in the Western Cape (and Southern Africa) where the African penguin (also called the Jackass Penguin) breeds. Safe parking inside Hennie's own garage with alarm, like the apartment too. Excellent value for money.

Everything was just perfect. Hennie followed up regularly as we were late and on the road and he welcomed us warmly. Everything was clean and neat. And then the small things, a nice plate of home-baked goodies to welcome us. Basic ingredients for a quick loaf of bread.
