What a nice place to stay.
This was the third time I stayed at Kaya4u and I am once again very satisfied with their service and the guest house itself. The WiFi that is on during loadshedding is a big plus for me.
It was the 2nd time I stay at Khaya4u and I really enjoy it again. I like that the staff offer privacy and don't strike up too many conversations. If I come to visit Dundee, I only want to stay here. Very good value for money and peaceful and quiet.

I made a late booking for my trip back from Howick to Piet Retief (Mkhondo). Khaya4u was a perfect midway stopping point. I stayed comfortably and felt safe and secure. It was also great to have good WiFi connectivity and being able to park my car within the guesthouse property. I will certainly use Khaya4u again for midway stops to or from Piet Retief or if I am visiting the area.
It was neat, clean, quiet and safe and met our requirements. The school reunion had a full program and we were able to get a good night's rest with free access to the accommodation premises.
The pillows were lumpy, the shower soor was broken, the window above the basin had no curtains, so the sun blinded us. No floormats next to the beds. Bathroom door broken. No plug near the mirror. Nowhere to put bags and cases. Walls were dirty. When messaging the host, wait several days for a reply.
We were just on a history trail and wanted to visit Talana Museum and Blood River. Dundee was therefore a good stopover. We slept in the unit outside the main building which was very neat and clean. As a self-catering facility, the kitchenette was a bit of a challenge, as there wasn't any stove and cooking equipment. In the absence of a serving bowl to prepare a meal in the microwave, the overseer was helpful and willing to borrow a glass bowl from the house's kitchen. I suggest investing in a private braai area in front of each of the units.
Comfortable overnight accommodation.
The staff is extremely unfriendly and unhelpful. We had to shower in cold water early in the morning, we were taken unfriendly to another bathroom and there we barely started showering either, then the water was cold.
The personnel were drunk and made a huge noise until after 9 at night. The place was not particularly clean. The shower drain was blocked. The pillows were old and dirty.
Give this one a miss! This was one of the worst experiences at any accommodation establishment we've ever experienced. Not only did we not get the room we booked, but there were no towels, plates, cutlery or glasses. The 'kitchen' was a rickety countertop balancing on a bar fridge with a microwave stacked on top and the coffee tray on top of that. Every time we opened the fridge, the countertop slid out as well, which made for a very inconvenient and uncomfortable stay. The duvet was almost as thin as a sheet and the two pillows on each bed were so old and bumpy, which made for a very restless sleep. The owner and receptionist had varying accounts of why we weren't allocated the specific room which we booked, which clearly indicated deception on their part. Similarly, while wifi is clearly advertised, it was extremely unstable in our room and again the owner and the receptionist had different explanations for this. You can get much better in Dundee than this place.
Room 1's shower faucet knob is loose and falls off when you touch it. Room 2's shower head pipe was broken off in the wall and fixed with "threadtape" (which you actually use to wrap over the thread of a pipe to seal it so it doesn't leak). As soon as you open the shower, the whole head and pipe coming out of the wall falls on you. Clients book in until 1 in the morning and ring the bell non-stop and shout and scream in the corridors. Only one bedside lamp works.
This place is really good value for money. I stayed for three nights and the service was great! They asked me what time I wanted my breakfast ready and it was promptly 8am for me. The breakfast was only R50 and it was so nice and tasty! It was also very peaceful and no noise from other guests. During loadshedding they have a generator and I could still watch Netflix on my laptop and use the lights. My car was always safe behind a security gate and under a canopy. I would recommend Kaya4u and I would stay there again anytime.
Khaya4u is value for money and I would definitely recommend it.

The accommodation is very cute, neat and clean. The staff is very helpful. All that was a big disappointment was that there was no hot water. It was a freezing cold weekend and the fact that we couldn't take a hot shower was very disappointing. Furthermore, the accommodation has everything one needs. The fridge only froze our groceries. Other than that, it was a very nice experience. The service the ladies provided was very good. The cleanliness and nice finish also contribute to a pleasant experience.
The beds slept well, and although there were no mini fridges or coffee facilities in the rooms, coffee and tea were available outside the rooms. There was no knowledgeable person available to tell us more about the area and what to visit.
The room's fridge was not on, we were tired from the whole day's bowls tournament, no water, no ice trays. Couldn't see the goats playing at all. Went looking for someone, but there was no one. Laundry, sheets, towels hung on wire all night. Toilet ran all night. Shower head is broken, water flows on one side. Behind the door it is full of cobwebs. One bed's warm blanket doesn't work, Floors were dirty and sticky. There was one bright spot. The next morning a lady brought us boiling water for coffee. Sleep a lot, but this place's maintenance is poor. Sorry!

Stayed long term for work - 2 weeks, and it was great. Very neat and clean and the most beautiful old house as the main guest house. Stayed in one of the interior rooms. This is my second time staying at Khaya for so long and each time it has been a good experience. The owner is also extremely hospitable and accommodating with the arrangements for accommodation. Happy to recommend it.

The outside self-catering does not have WiFi. Workers staying on site are noisy late at night and early in the morning.
Receptionist does not make you feel welcome. Very impersonal service. Guest house rooms have no desk/table to work on. Not suitable for business people who want to work in the evening.
I stayed here for one night en route to the East Coast as part of a motorbike trip. I was the only guest and whilst the staff were polite it did feel like my being there was a little inconvenient. The room was very clean (more channels on the TV a would be good) and a cooked breakfast for R50 was a bargain.
We stayed one night and the accommodation was completely adequate and tidy. However, we could not get any meals arranged in advance.

We were not received kindly. Room was neat and clean. There is no mirror in the room by a power point to blow hair, no milk, nor was there even more Cremora for coffee at the communal coffee station the day we checked out. Doesn't help to ring a bell for service. We only found out when we read later on the website that you could also ask for breakfast, it was never mentioned upon check-in.
We only slept in the room, no breakfast. The room was quaint and absolutely gorgeous. The house as a whole is very neat and clean. Will definitely be returning.
Khaya4u is a very guest house with real wooden antique floors and furniture. It's clean and tidy. Rooms are spacious and there is a nice big garden. Our bed was a bit uncomfortable and we couldn't find anyone to ask for fresh milk for coffee the next morning. All that bothered was the front door that was open all night. Arrangements may be made around its closing. It is ideal for a bride and or groom to dress up there. The spacious rooms and beautiful furniture will make for beautiful photos. Of the modern furniture etc. complements the antiquity of Khaya4u.

Wonderful guesthouse. Beautifully furnished bedrooms with wooden floors making it even more elegant. Highly recommended if you're interested in battlefields and history and need a resting place after a day of exploring the area. We only spent one night, but will definitely return.

The room we had was nice. The kitchen was simple, but neat. Bathroom clean and in working order.
Couldn't sleep because noisy neighbors. Didn't know who to contact at 2am. Walls very thin. Spot short outside paint. First impressions not good at all. Not too bad inside. Towels rock hard.

We found the rooms very tidy and comfy, but could do with a full length mirror. The owners are lovely people and very accommodating. We had a lovely evening and a great breakfast the next morning. Very hospitable.
