The room was clean and tidy, but needs some attention. Like the old TV that doesn't really work. And it's quite noisy from the room until the bottle storage closes. And if you want to make tea, you have to put the kettle on the ground to boil.
The photos were outdated and the decor needs a revamp. There are spider webs and dust on the ceilings above showers and windows. The place could do with a good top-to-toe cleaning.

The location was perfect and easy to locate. We were welcomed in the dark (loadshedding), we were shown our rooms with light, and apologies were made regarding the lack of electricity (not their fault). There was lighting laid on throughout the hotel to enable a person to see where they were going, The rooms were comfortable, clean and warm.

We did not enjoy our stay at this hotel. On arrival one of the owners was rude and unhelpful. The rooms are dark and the furniture and linen are very old. The bathroom door had no handle to close from the inside. The plugs didn't work. No provision is made for loadshedding. A bench or shelf to put toilet bags etc. on in the bathroom would be helpful. A kettle is provided but no tea or coffee? Dinner in the restaurant was mediocre at best.
No fridge in room. Was booked for 3 nights. Took food that could go down. Place is old and needs a good upgrade. Their photos on the web are very deceiving.
My only concern would be, that when one parks outside, one does not feel safe. But then they were very quick to make inside parking available. And I know there is not much more they can do. They are not responsible for what goes on outside their premises.
Good base to explore surroundings and meals at restaurant are fantastic.

Room was very dark, too few outside windows to let light through. Loadshedding was a big problem. Rooms must be equipped with candles or lamps for them.

Staff very friendly, room was clean. It looks a bit dodgy from the outside and is not in a nice area of town close to the liquor store but inside was fine with nice gardens and outdoor seating and safe parking. Food was good portions and quickly made. Hotel is very old and quite basic, could do with some TLC, new upholstery, new towels and real teaspoons with the tea and coffee in the rooms.

Cute place, but think money needs to be invested in new rugs and other tables in the dining room. Service was very good, food was nice, it was only the breakfast that was really disappointing and not value for money at all. There was no bread or toast at breakfast, only egg, bacon, 2 sausages and a scoop of baked beans. Kudos to Pieter, the bartender, for solving all our problems on arrival. Also with setting WIFI on phone. Don't think his service is properly appreciated. Think you should also think about new towels and paint the place just a little, then it will look nice. Maybe also new photos from the outside, because it doesn't look like that anymore.

We did the Vines&Views on Saturday morning 4 September, were already out of Hotel before 07:00, breakfast was only available at 08:00, we would have liked to have eaten something, maybe next year maybe we can work it in, otherwise very happy.
Staff very nice and food is delicious. The WiFi is not very strong and the DStv channels are very limited.
Our room was very clean as well as the bathroom. The only thing that I felt was strange is that there was no soap or shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom. Luckily I have the habit of taking my bathroom supplies with me wherever I plan on staying over. Other than that, the room was great for the night. We didn't have anything to eat at the hotel, so unfortunately I cannot rate their food.

Being seasoned travellers, this would not have been our first choice, but as nothing else in the area was available it satisfied our needs for one night.
The room was small, the TV was outdated, no DStv or Netflix. You would need some kind of entertainment in such a small environment as there was absolutely nothing happening at the hotel or in the area. I would definitely not recommend this place to stay. The bed was broken and the foyer was dark and they made us carry our suitcases up two flights of stairs.
Sheets were not clean. Whilst friendly , the staff did not seem interested in how their customers felt. Manager/cook just seemed to be going through the motions. I would take them off your list.

Poor service, pissed off about us being too early to check in even though you said 1pm, sheets and towels see through, tea bags in room just lying open on windowsill, TV on cupboard, can't see or hear him from bed.

TV was very high which is less ergonomic. When we indicated we wanted to watch Kyknet, our channel was changed instead of us being given instructions on how to choose a channel: we would like to feel in control and there were no instructions.

The room was neat and clean. The lighting in the room needs to be improved. There was no WiFi, which I specifically needed for work purposes and checked for before booking. The pool was dirty.
The room we were allocated was shocking to say the least. The window blind in the room was broken. We had the street light shining directly into the room. The carpets was filthy and stained. The shower was filthy. The TV did not work. I was told by the manager it did work and was "the latest", I haven't seen a remote like that since the 1980s. I found the manager extremely rude and patronising. We had booked for two nights intending to use the Klawer Hotel as a base to explore the area. We were so disillusioned by the nights' stay we checked out that morning and came home.
Just an idea: maybe a double bed when it's a couple with kids instead of all 4 beds 3/4 beds, especially in winter to snuggle up together.

Water saving not really addressed. Geyser located too far from rooms and it takes time for water to warm up. Dining room not environmentally friendly for non-smokers. Smells like smoke.
Perfect accommodation for a quick overnight stay.
Recommendation is that rooms are equipped with a microwave oven, a refrigerator, an iron and a hair dryer. There should also be a telephone in the room to at least contact reception.

The service poor. Wait about twenty minutes in front of the door before someone opens the door. It was around 14H30 on a Sunday afternoon. The beds in the room's mattresses are too thin to sleep on. Makes no attempt to offer alternatives and refuses to refund my money.
Old, run down, unkempt, horrible bathroom, can't even turn around in the shower, not very clean. Room cold and dark, heater not working, air conditioner no knob, towels old, faded, hard. Restaurant also run down, all plus point was the food which was acceptable. The pictures are not what you get except the entrance and the fishpond. Definitely not worth a star.

Carpets in bathroom and in room were battered. Towel in bathroom frayed. I would say the hotel should not be more than 1 star. The dinner in restaurant was excellent and good value for money. Breakfast was below standard.
The staff are nice and helpful. The food is acceptable. The rooms are small and dark. Everything is old and shabby. The towels are hard as sandpaper (from age). The hotel has a lot of potential, but it will take some money to update it.
Room not in good condition, hole in ceiling, bad smell in room, definitely not value for money. Check-out was 10 o'clock but cleaners came knocking on the door before 9 o'clock to clean, we had to vacate the room at 9 o'clock. And reception staff not too friendly. We tour with motorbikes, so we want a clean, neat and nice bed to sleep in. The swimming pool on a warm December afternoon after a day on the bike was a welcome additional blessing. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and there is also a braai if you want to do self-catering.

Sleeping facilities not up to standard.
Double rooms limited. The restaurant was exceptionally good and food was excellent. The hotel itself is ok for a one night stay would recommend it only if people are just looking for a place to rest.

We were under the impression that the restaurant would be open as advertised on the website, upon arrival we had to learn that the restaurant is closed on Sunday evenings, we should go eat at the Wimpy or 20km further at the Spur. We also couldn't book for breakfast because the owner / manager wasn't sure if the chef would be on duty early. This was disappointing for us as we made reservation based on restaurant located at hotel.
The room does not compliment the price. No place to hang towels. Air conditioner doesn't have knobs to make adjustments and we didn't have pliers. Curtains missing and hanging cupboard within short attention. The TV is above the cupboard and far away. Binoculars are needed to watch TV. A used soap was at the hand sink. Went to buy own soap. I think the man at reception was the manager and was helpful and there was also a young girl who lent her hairdryer as there is none in the room. The food was very tasty every time. We had to wait an hour the first night, but attribute that to many guests who came to eat.
The hotel room was the worst room I have ever stayed in in a hotel. The photo on the web page of the rondavels gives a completely wrong impression. The rondavel is rented out to semi-permanent people (contractors).
The shower pipes runs outside the wall. The toilet and equipped are cheap and half open. Cupboards in room and bathroom are old and not neat. Bed and matress are over its time. Bathroom tiles are bad. This place needs an upgrade.

Booked and paid for 3 adults. The third bed was very uncomfortable and a type of bunk bed, definitely not suitable for an adult. The room is actually only for 2 people, there is also no air conditioner to control the open shower's mist, also no exhaust fan to control it.
Excellent value for money and it's safe.
The room we had was small, very small. The bed's mattress was thin and slept through and the bedding was clean but had seen life. A small fridge could really be added to the room. The staff's service was very good and the restaurant's food, although a bit expensive, is very good.

Hotel was clean and the service was excellent, but R460 for bed and breakfast, in a tiny room, is a bit much. Johan and his staff were great, and the breakfast was good.
Definitely not value for money. The first room's curtains were torn, there is no soap in the bathroom and the beds are limp. I asked for another room which was at least a little better.
The photo is misleading. The room is small and cramped.
First, we arrived late and called and let them know that we would be arriving late, and then already sent the proof of payment quite a few times. Upon arrival we were taken to a room that looked nothing like the one in the picture. I was bitten by mosquitoes all night and did not sleep at all, because when we got into the room at 02:00 in the morning from the Cape, the window was still open. The next morning I asked for an iron because we were getting ready for a funeral. The lady (Ms. Auret) was not helpful and unfriendly. Later that afternoon I sat down in the bar with friends where I wanted to order a drink and the lady behind the counter said she doesn't help people in that regard. She was also inappropriate with me and another paying customer who was also there. So my whole experience was unhospitable and unprofessional except of course for JP being his mannered self.
Does not justify the stars, the room is small and cramped. Furniture, bedding, towels and mattress are long gone.

Immediately made to feel at home by Johan and his staff. Just had a great time with everyone around the pool table and what a hit dinner was! After a delicious breakfast we set off on the northern flower routes. Clover hotel will definitely see me again. Friendliest staff and rural atmosphere simply give off to all the visitors and soon everyone is friends. The dinner was definitely a highlight. Accommodation not 5-star, but certainly clean and tidy.

Good reception, the rooms are just a bit small! The food was delicious. Sometimes the noise from the local pub was a bit annoying.
Because it was Saturday, the bar was terribly rowdy. We were then moved.
Tell guests very clearly that the restaurant is not open on Sunday evenings. It was outrageous to expect us to drive another 20 kilometers to Vanrhynsdorp's Spur to get a decent meal.

I find it unacceptable that Klawer Hotel has recovered its commission, which is rightfully owed to LekkeSlaap, from us as guests. I do have great appreciation for the way in which LekkeSlaap handled this case.
I felt like there wasn't much effort to make the room welcoming. I walked into a dark room, blinds closed, windows closed. and the pictures slightly misleading. I don't recall seeing the room I was given in the pictures, as I am quite sure I would not have booked that room. Even the guests' sitting area wasn't welcoming, curtains closed, dark, and this was at 3 pm on a beautiful sunny day. No one was in the reception. I had to walk into a dark bar that's on the premises where the owner was sitting. Not very professional at all! I actually didn't feel comfortable here at all, so I checked out immediately. I paid for that accommodation in full (R400) before my stay and was extremely disappointed. Just a week before I had stayed at a bed and breakfast for R400 as well and it was absolutely wonderful.
