Ideal for a large group or family, the spacious Eselfontein House can accommodate 14 people and comprises 6 bedrooms, 6 en suite bathrooms, a kitchen, a dining area with a sitting area on the lower floor and a TV room with a small kitchenette on the upper floor.
Comfortably furnished for 2 people, the Donkierus Cottage comprises 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, and a lounge. The bedroom is furnished with a king-size bed and has an en-suite bathroom with a shower, a bath, and, a toilet.
Experience the beautiful flower growth in Spring time and Winter months are icy with mercury sometimes dropping to -15 degrees celsius and the town is flooded with snow seekers from across the country.
Privacy to the farm is ensured with electronic access control.

We stayed at the Eselfontein house. All the bedrooms were spacious and each had their own bathroom, which was great. This is great value for money.
Klipkraal is on a farm outside Sutherland. The tranquility was wonderful for us, as was the 8 km walk on the farm. I can only imagine how nice I will be sitting in front of that fireplace with a glass of red wine in the winter while it is snowing outside! Will definitely come back here again!
Simply wonderful! The house is nice and private, the surroundings are beautiful, everything was spotless and tidy, every room was stylishly and neatly furnished, the fireplace was a winner and Lien was very helpful and always on hand to help if needed. One of the older feedbacks summed it up well: This accommodation is even more beautiful and better than the photos on the website show! (Our visit was also made extra special when it started snowing on the second night of our stay). We will definitely be back.
House is quaint and a bit chilly but the farm is so beautiful and so much to explore! Very comfortable and had everything we needed.
Stayed in donkey rest cottage which has a very large and comfortable bathroom and bedroom. Hot water for shower excellent and kitchen well equipped. Also well equipped for load shedding.
Could do with better water pressure in the bathrooms - or perhaps descaling of shower heads. Well appointed.
Just didn't feel good - attention to detail. No firewood. No guest welcome/information booklet.
Matches provided box practically empty, dishwasher provided watered down - rate of R1300 per night this is a big no. Kitchen drying cloth needs jik. We were booked for 3 nights, 3 tea bags provided, 2 teaspoon of sugar provided, a few cremora sachets and a few sweeteners provided in tiny jam jars - really why even do that it is so cheap. No door on shower water everywhere when you shower. 2 liquid hand wash in the shower none at the hand basin. Again attention to detail. I specifically asked about the fire wood and was advised it is included in the price, this was later changed to provide your own wood, so when we arrived at accommodation, no wood, very disappointing. This is not criticism, the bed was beautiful, you need to pay more attention to detail. The cottage is beautiful for two people, you need to have pamphlets about the area on what to do in the area, you are sitting on a gold mine, there is nowhere else in the world like SALT.
Well located and very quiet.
Was our first visit to Sutherland and was pleasantly surprised with the accommodation. Lien received us kindly and we immediately felt at home. The house is beautiful and located in a quiet and peaceful environment a few kilometers from the town. Ideal for a large family or group of friends. We had a great time on the porch and later that evening in front of the fireplace in the house. Will definitely stay at Klipkraal again, but this time for longer. Five star accommodation!
The accommodation is better than what the photos look like. Really had a lovely weekend there.
Quiet, peaceful and safe.
What a wonderful getaway location, to spend time winding down. While the weather was crisp (being August) there are plenty of ways to keep warm, and the scenery was breathtaking. Hoping to visit again (this time with snow).
Very cute place with beautiful stars. Had a great stay, and especially the bedding and electric blanket were very comfortable. Things that bothered is the large fireplace/indoor braai that smoked so bad it was impossible to use. Furthermore, the bath's water runs out from the "overflow" onto the bathroom floor, so it wets the entire bathroom if the bath is more than half full and it is impossible for 2 people to bathe together. It was also strange to me that for one night's stay of R1020 per night for 2 people we had to pay a further R250 cleaning fee. Other than this, Klipkraal was fantastic and I would highly recommend it. Just don't start a fire inside.
