What a wonderfully productive and efficient farm in a beautiful setting between the mountains. Also great to be able to walk and experience not only the safe farming environment but also the beautiful mountain fynbos and nature. We were very comfortable in our cottages and really enjoyed the early morning walks and the evening sunsets.
Stay was out of this world, nice fireplace with enough firewood, too cold for the hot tub, but we enjoyed the warmth of the fire inside and everything that was there. Information was correct and you find everything as they say.
We had a wonderful stay in the Kunje Guest Farm with friends and especially enjoyed visiting the outdoor barbecue. The reception was friendly and the service excellent. The tour through the pack store was an experience and we were able to buy some delicious fruit. We also ventured into most of the hiking trails. Would have liked clearer directions on some trails, but it was still adventurous. The views and mountain formations were breathtaking. A wonderful break from the usual routine with fresh mountain air to breathe!
All was great and better than expected. For example, crockery and cutlery were available, linen on beds, and refrigerators. Heat was difficult, especially in the evenings, but fans were supplied, and we also took along fans.
It was reasonable considering we were tired from driving.

The setting is simply beautiful. The bed was extremely comfortable, wood was plentiful, and the kitchen was well stocked. The hiking trails are exceptional. The cottage's maintenance may need some attention - a few things bothered me like a flickering bedside lamp and TV with bad background noise and other things. The lack of WiFi is a negative point. Tip: A few welcoming wildflowers would have made the experience much more personal! Also meeting in person would have been pretty cool. We were able to communicate by phone.

We had a lovely tranquil breakaway at Kunje Guest Farm with an awesome view. Unfortunately, the river was not accessible. The kolkol and splash pool were great to cool off.
It must be one of the most beautiful locations for groups, with awesome braai facilities and an amazing pool in the mountains.
We were received with kindness and hospitality. Because bedding is not provided, we were helped as I did not know this when we booked. There is no TV and it was fantastic to listen to a crackling fire while nature unfolds in its tranquility around you. Will definitely visit here again. One night was too little and we had other commitments. It is 'self catering' and everything was in place. We took our own WiFi router with us. There is cell phone reception.
Surroundings are beautiful and have nice walking routes to explore the area. Accommodation is very well furnished and has everything one might need!
It met my expectations. In fact, I got more than I expected. I want to return here and spend more time here — will just have to plan my vacation right.

The guest house and cottage is a neat place in the mountains. It exceeded our expectations in every way. We could have fun together as 3 families and still have our own privacy. The children were out all day on the rocks and grass and paths. and many of the hiking trails are for all ages! The host was very concerned and friendly and made sure we were comfortable and settled in. Thank you for an unforgettable weekend!

The communication from the guest house is fast and friendly. The reception and arrangements for check-in are clear and Leoni welcomed us kindly. Her husband took us on a short tour of his pack storage and fruit drying facilities. It was really very informative. Thank you very much for the delicious apples and pears. We stayed in peace and quiet in the guest house with a lovely fireplace for the cold days and a large outdoor braai with more than enough dry braai wood. Although we chose not to use the kol-kol hot tub, it was available with wood, full of water and spotlessly clean. It is wonderful to eat breakfast on the stoep early in the morning in the sun, walk through the orchards and enjoy the natural beauty and fynbos of the hiking trails. We felt very safe at all times. Thank you very much for a wonderful 3 days.

Groep van elf stappers het heerlik gekuier en gestap. Basic facilities as expected in a hiking hut, but totally sufficient and worked well for the group size. The weather, scenery and natural beauty added to the success of the weekend, as well as a choice of challenging and easier walks. The Geelberg trail can do with better marking and upkeep and is not for the novice walker, others were easily found.
Kunje farm is any nature lover's dream. There are wonderful walking trails on the farm and we as a family thoroughly enjoyed them. The house is beautifully furnished and the KolKol hot tub on the porch is wonderful for the cold winter evenings!
Beautiful hiking trails, delicious fireplace and sheltered braai area. The Kol-Kol bath was deliciously warm, despite the cold and rain.

The lights were not too good, in the morning there were no lights, but in the evening all was good.

Lovely cottage set in beautiful surroundings overlooking the orchards and mountains. A wonderful place to enjoy the tranquility of nature, with ample opportunity for hiking and easy cycling. Would love to come back in summer to enjoy the rock pools!

We almost ran out of diesel on the way there, as we were pulling a very heavy trailer up the mountain pass. When we got to the office, I asked the lady that received us where we could get some diesel. She called her husband Mr Hanekom, who not only helped us out with diesel but also took us on a tour of the packaging and storage parts of the farm. The kids loved this. He also gave us a box with the freshest, sweetest fruits you can imagine. The kids loved the walking trails, hot tub and freedom of the farm. Thank you Hanekom for a lovely farm stay as well as our fresh fruit surprise.
What a time we had?! Great reception and warm people. The accommodation is very clean and tidy with an exceptional view. Walk through the orchards and swim in the swimming hole our highlight. If I'm ever in that area again, Kunje will definitely see me again.

Very beautiful nature and very quiet. Professional reception and service at office. Accommodation simple, but all that is needed. An awful lot of rules plastered everywhere. Make guests feel slightly unwelcome. Request to leave unit as received so much sweeping, washing dishes, cleaning barbecue, cleaning bathrooms even if it is a holiday. An additional fee of R200 to R500 is charged if you do not clean. Never stayed at accommodation that works like this. KolKol hot tub was nice. You buy wood to be able to heat. Not included as with other Accommodations. Power gave slight problems and tripped/didn't come through 2 times. Very well set up for load shedding so could at least continue with what was necessary between load shedding and power which tripped twice and then was off for a long time. Unit also has everything needed for cold Winter months. Mixed feeling about accommodation with pros and cons.
I like the history of the farm. The family has some beautiful units with a nice view. The unit is large and has many amenities. Good value for money. I would definitely recommend it.
The unit is located near some hiking trails on the farm. We enjoyed just being quietly at the unit and also doing some hiking trails. The unit is ideal if you are a large group of people. It is very basic but has everything one needs. Very good value for money and communication with Kunje was excellent.

If one is looking for a quiet and tranquil spot, then this is it.The surrounding mountains add to the beauty of the farm. The hike to up Geelberg was a little disappointing, as the route is not marked well, however the views from the top made up for getting lost and trying to find the path a few times.
What a beautiful unit with the most beautiful view! Neat and clean and fully equipped. During our stay it snowed for 2 days and then the indoor fireplace is a lovely, cozy place to linger! The seven large bags of wood available at the unit as well as produce from the farm is a big plus! (That can be left in the unit for a fee). The best in the west!

It's probably the closest to paradise as described in Genisis. Only spent the night there but would definitely like to stay for a few days in the future to experience all the trails. You always drive past it on N7. Make an effort to visit it please. All staff make a lot of effort. Want to come test out that wooden hot tub.

We stayed in the Moutain Hut. Beautiful views, cute little house with a large fire place inside and outside, sleeping space for a large group of people and 2 bathrooms. The cottage has everything you need, even with 2 fridges and a freezer. Leanie took care of everything we needed, they sell delicious dried fruit, rusks, etc. at very reasonable prices. Can't wait to go again!

Kunje is a fantastic location for walking and mountain climbing. We spent 3 days there and didn't get to all the places we wanted to see. The Geelberg climb was special and the rock formations are really special. We really enjoyed it - would go again and highly recommend it.
The place had everything we could possibly need.
Unit 1 is well equipped with everything one needs for self-catering accommodation. The view is fantastic and the surroundings so peaceful. Next time I will stay longer and explore all the hiking trails.
The road from Citrusdal is a dirt road. The road from Ceres is a tar road. Wonderfully peaceful. The hot tub at unit 2 was wonderfully relaxing. Can really recommend it!

Comfortable and well-equipped cottage (for hot and cold weather), with fruit orchards and several hiking options nearby (including a steep climbing route and a two-track road through the fynbos). Good tarred road right at the farm (from Ceres), with only a short dirt road on the farm itself.
We as 4 persons who stayed in unit 3. The cottage had everything needed. The cottage is also completely private, you don't know about your neighbors. Our reception was very friendly. There was free wood for us at the cottage which we didn't expect, thank you very much. The hot tub is a winner! We really enjoyed it and will definitely return again.

The home-baked rusk was a delicious filler early in the morning. We will definitely go again.
I left Kunje a bit puzzled on Sunday. This would be such a hotspot if they only had a pool. Its a hidden gem at the very end of the R46 just before you hit the gravel pass (can't remember its name). If the pass was tarred out and there was a pool, Kunje would be coining it big time. I love the "farm life" atmosphere. The silence & scenery stunning. I would definitely recommend it to friends but I think that the non-existence of the pool is a deterring factor.

Eerste keer in die omgewing. Eenheid was meer as wat ek verwag het vir die prys, het alles bo standaard ervaar. Kan hoogs aanbeveel, het net nie genoeg tyd gehad om alles te dien nie. Wou baie graag na die waterval gaan kyk, maar met al die reën kon ons nie oorkom nie. Dalk dink om 'n klein bruggie te bou. Somertye sal lekker daar wees. Alles wat jy nodig het en meer is in die eenheid beskikbaar.

The children were disappointed with the swimming facilities. Would recommend either one and would definitely go again. Everyone votes for another Kunje holiday. My fiancé and I spent four nights at Unit 2 on Kunje Guest Farm during January 2018. The unit is very well equipped with everything one could possibly need and was also very tidy upon our arrival. The air conditioning came in very handy during the hot days we had there, although the heat was never unbearable without it. I personally really enjoyed the outdoor barbecue and made sure there was a fire burning every night. One thing to keep in mind is that the nearest shop is a fair bit towards Ceres or over a relatively bad dirt road towards Citrusdal, so make sure you pack all the necessary things. I personally would not take the dirt road to Citrusdal in a normal car, although there are people who do. Furthermore, there are an awful lot of attractions in the area, depending on how far you would like to drive. Everything from rock climbing, to mountain climbing, peaceful walks in nature, swimming in the pits, fishing, bird watching and much, much more. In short, I highly recommend Kunje Guest Farm if you are looking for well equipped accommodation in a peaceful area surrounded by breathtaking scenery with the option to be active if you wish.

I went with family and friends from 6 to 8 July 2018. The drive through was absolutely stunning. We could still see snow on the side of the road. Friendly and helpful staff always willing to make my stay even more enjoyable. The Berghut was okay to find, but the road to it was not very friendly to non-4x4 vehicle. The accommodation was basic, but has everything you would need for a group of 20 people. Loved the bunk beds even with all the snoring. Thanks again to everyone at Kunje. You guys rock!

I would recommend Kunje to anyone looking to switch off and get away from the city. The location and the accommodation are more than worth it for the price.
What a great stay. Switched off from the rush. With no mobile phone it was nice not to be bothered by social media.
It's only when you arrive on the farm and experience the smell of fresh air and the open, that you realise how blessed you are to rest in such a place. It exceeded our biggest expectations and each of our group has confirmed that they will definitely want to visit Kunje again and for a longer period.
The details about getting to Mountain Hut wasn't clear. On the road it said Berghuis which I thought was a different place, that belonged to someone else.
It was nice to get away with the family and sit by the fireplace and play games and make time for each other again.
I Will recommend Kunje to anyone who comes across this treasure.
It was extremely nice and serene! Enjoyed the breakaway! Accommodation had everything you could think of! Only suggestion would probably be for better directions to the walking routes from the accommodation/main entrance. Other than that it was great staying there and will definitely come back!

Service friendly, professional and without pretensions. Accommodation clean, comfortable and furnished with love. View and surroundings breathtaking! Unit 1 (not on website) sleeps 6; 2 rooms with own shower/toilet, 1 bed in living room and 1 in kitchen. Swimming place within walking distance - not maintained and therefore water difficult to access and overgrown which was disappointing. Lovely pools further away can be reached by car and a short walk on a sandy path and climbing over rocks. Beautiful! Unit next to warehouse, was quiet over December but please check for pack/harvest season. Nearest shopping at Spar (Op die Berg) is well equipped.

Great place to get away from the daily grind. The cottages have everything you need, and there are plenty of hiking and 4x4 trails in the area. One minor disappointment is that there is no welcoming by the farmer, it's nice to meet the hosts and they can show you around, etc.
The scenery is beautiful, lots of wild flowers. The walks enjoyable and pleased to see the Bushmen paintings. Will definitely visit again.

What a fantastic unit, well equipped, lovely location, very peaceful and beautiful area with all the fruit trees in bloom. Unfortunately, it is a working farm with all the noise that goes with it. Owner was very accommodating.

The people of Kunje, clearly a large and successful farm, are to be congratulated on the guest accommodation on the farm. All aspects, from the road signs and the friendly reception at the office to the convenience and cleanliness of the accommodation units, contribute to a pleasant, relaxing break.
What a gem! We came from the Citrusdal side, driving over 5 hours from Augrabies and only arrived late at night. The 30 km road over the mountain was not for the fainthearted, but definitely worth the bumps and grunts. Would certainly visit again, maybe next time from the Ceres side.
One downfall, swimming facilities are in short supply. The river pool nearby is unsafe and dangerous.
Had a great time and enjoyed the tranquility. Walked far and found bushman drawings. Only positive criticism is to perhaps mention that only MTN collects at houses. We have to drive to the farm to let our people know we are safe. As a result, I will also take MTN sim card with me.

We enjoyed our stay. The accommodation is very basic and clean and the orange trees are fabulous. I would recommend a visit to this area only with a 4x4 vehicle as the gravel road to Citrusdal is in poor condition. The owners give you a wonderful map of the area around Kunje but we did not have luck in finding all the numbered hikes.

Everything was neat on arrival and well organized. Would recommend the stay anytime. Would love to visit there again.
Only negative aspect: bad dirt road from Citrusdal.

Accommodation comprises 5 units, suited to accommodate up to 44 guests. The units on offer include the Guesthouse & Cottage, Unit 2, Unit 3 and the Geelberg Mountain Hut. All rooms come equipped with comfortable beds, a bathroom fitted with either a shower or bath, a kitchen fully equipped for self-catering and a dining room area with a fireplace. The Mountain Hut is equipped with bunk beds and two bathrooms with showers. This unit is also pet friendly.
On-site facilities include air conditioning, satellite TV, an outdoor braai area, small swimming pool at Guesthouse & Cottage, hot tubs at Units 2 & 3 and secure parking. Guests are also welcome to enjoy the on-site activities which include bird watching, swimming, mountain biking, fishing and cycling.
