Laid Back Family Beach House is a self-catering family holiday house ideally situated in Port Alfred in a quiet street overlooking the ocean. The house is approximately a 1 minute stroll to the Shelley Beach, and a 4 minute walk to Kelly’s Beach, ideal for surfing, rock pool exploring, walking, fishing, or shell collecting. The house is ideal for a group of friends and family members, and while it is not extremely luxurious, it has everything you may need for good vibes and a fun holiday.
The house can accommodate up to 8 guests and comprises 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, and a second lounge area. The first bedroom contains a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower-over-bath, a toilet and a washbasin. The second bedroom contains a double bed, and the third bedroom contains a double bed. The second bathroom contains a walk-in shower, a toilet and a washbasin.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a gas stove and gas oven, fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, and a laundry area. The dining area features a 6-seater dining table (there are extra chairs to seat 8). The first lounge contains comfy seating, a TV, and a fireplace. Off the dining area is the second lounge which contains seating and 2 additional single beds.
The living area opens to a covered patio with outdoor seating, outdoor dining furniture, a built-in braai, and partial sea views. There is a spacious garden where kids can play, and the street is very quiet so kids can ride and skateboard, or even play bat and ball.
Shaded carport parking is available on the premises. The house has an alarm and is linked to 24-hour secure response.
Free Wi-Fi is provided, with a backup UPS for load shedding. To make use of the DStv, guests need to bring their own decoder, smart card, cables and remote plug-and-play or connect with Wi-Fi to watch Netflix. No beach towels are provided.

It was a lovely stay, location is amazing. The house has everything you need for self-catering.
The cottage's best attribute is its ideal location, especially for the dogs who travelled with us. It is a comfortable, non-pretentious beach cottage, which is what we were looking for. It has some limitations (lack of an inverter), and we were expected to use the sheets and towels provided for our entire ten-day stay. Also, a cold and wet spell in the middle of our stay meant we looked for a heater or extra blankets, neither of which were provided in the house, unfortunately.
The house was exactly as described. The house was big enough for the whole extended family. Just come prepared for extended periods of power outages. House has a few lights but no gas to cook on. We had a great vacation. Lovely walks on the beach each day. Short drive to the shop. House is not fancy but has everything you need.
Things need to be upgraded. The beds were very disappointing. The kitchen utensils, specifically the pots, were lacking. There was only one garbage plastic bag. There was no toilet paper, tea, or coffee. Yes, it is self-catering, but at least tea, sugar, and coffee should be provided.
This was the best weekend ever. The location was perfect for all of us, the house was spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. Our friends who are a married couple enjoyed the main bedroom and the chair in the bathroom was a highlight for them.
We had such an awesome time here, everything we could have wanted was readily available at the house, we literally felt at home. I would definitely recommend.
We had a wonderful stay.
We had a very nice stay. Kids loved paying with their plainball and the grass in the front. Street not too busy. And a walk little walk then you are on the beach. Loved our stay.
You must inform people about the water situation. It's not the owner's fault. Every now and then we had to exchange the municipal water and tank water for water. One day there was also a power cut and there was no water available. Let people be prepared.
