Sample a true taste of country life – join in feeding the animals with the children, walk hand-in-hand through the fields, watch the wildlife, learn about real people’s lives on a real working farm.
Our thatched, self-catering, cottage is spacious and sleeps 7. It is clean, cosy and warm with the added attraction of an open fire and a private lapa. There is plenty to see and do on the farm.
We offer you a comfortable and homely base with many attractions a short drive away, but you can of course come here and do absolutely nothing. We don’t mind!
Just imagine the peace and tranquility, with a log fire and a night full of stars...

Hospitality and a nice rest for your soul.
Coming from the city, the farm offered a completely different perspective to holiday making.
Was a great farm getaway and our sons enjoyed the farm animals, and the tame eland so much! We could fetch eggs ourselves and could see baby emu's and ostriches. Farmer Bernard showed us around on the farm and we also saw rare butterflies.
We spent a wonderful 3 days at Leopard's Lair. The hospitality of Michelle and Bernard was overwhelming.
The place is fantastic, but a bit far from the N3 and the road is not the best for a low-profile vehicle.
Spent a weekend in Leopard's Lair. Clean and neat place with ample space to live comfortably. Only problem I had is that they don't consider one's privacy. Had a bicycle race early next morning and told owner I'd only be back by 12 noon. She said it's fine, that I just need to hurry up after the race as the next guests were to arrive later in the afternoon. When I returned to Leopard's Lair at 12 to pack my things, everything was already packed and vacated. Our clothes merely put in a black bag and meat put in a box. I couldn't even take a quick shower. I was dirty after the bicycle race and had to drive like that back to Pretoria. I understand that my mistake was to not familiarise myself with checkout time on Sunday, but I still feel like I need to write about this. I experienced the situation as very humiliating.
Warm welcome. Michelle went out of her way to ensure we felt at home. The place is perfect if you want to get away from the rush of everyday life. Bernard specially took us to another farm to show us how they milk cows and he also gave us nice sausage to braai. They didn't just leave you on one side, but chatted as if they'd known us for years. Place is well equipped and neat and the private lapa with its own braai is a bonus. We enjoyed our time of rest on the farm and it was lovely to look at all the animals. We also fed the pigs ourselves. For us city slickers it was just wow. We will definitely go again. Just one suggestion is maybe providing a hanging closet for clothes so that you don't have to live from your luggage. Otherwise everything was perfect and well equipped.
We were warmly welcomed. The house is full equipped and very neat. The environment is friendly and clean and it was really an awesome weekend!
Leopard's Liar is a special place to spend the night - the cottage is comfortable and well equipped. The people of Spitzkop are warm and friendly and immediately introduced my German grandchildren to the wonderful farm life. One feels at home and comfortable and the container with fresh farm milk in the fridge contributes to a delicious farm experience.
It was a nice experience to spend the night on a working farm.
Farm atmosphere. If you are happy to just sit back and relax, this is the place for you.
Have fun there. Beautiful birds.
The accommodation was comfortable and had everything we needed. The children saw so many new things and we really enjoyed the beautiful clean nature. Thank you!
This place met all our expectations where we wanted to experience real farm life.
Very interesting, friendly people. Very clean with a good atmosphere. Wouldn't mind going back.
