The place is very full and we didn't have enough hot water. We rented 3 units side by side and only the first people in line had hot water. The power also went out now and then the first night, but it was apparently a municipal problem.
Lichtenburg struggles with power (strafkrg) and water. If there is no power, there is no water. I suspect our room shares a "geyser" with the room next to us, so whoever takes a bath or shower first gets the hot water. The room was clean and tidy, but certainly not the 5 stars as stated on the reception's front door. I feel the fare was ridiculously expensive.
I arranged with reception that I would come and get the key at 19:00. Got there and probably waited 10/15 minutes for someone to come open and give me the keys to rooms. The night when we wanted to bath no water and also no water in toilet. No one even available to solve the water problem. I will not recommend the guest house to anyone and will never sleep there again.
The owner went out of her way to make us as comfortable as possible. If we are in the area again I will definitely stay here again.
The place is beautiful. All I can complain about is the pipes of the bathroom making a lot of noise and it was hot. Could not open venters due to privacy and aircon didn't work.
Great reception and service. Contacted me within an hour after my departure to inform me that I've forgotten a valuable item and was able to pick it up before leaving town. Excellent!
The owners need to become a lot more involved as the staff is not very friendly and limited in decision making. The bedding was not comfortable and a concern it not being white duvets which is a standard in that industry. There was no hot water in the room where I had stayed in and neither in the morning which caused me to find the staff in the morning in my sleepwear to move me to a new room. She did mention that the owners were already aware of it. The rooms are also too small for the heavy antique furniture, heavy curtains and decorations, which makes it difficult to move around in. I was also nervous about the amount of staff/contractors in the immediate vicinity while my cleaned room was left open for all sides, before arriving from my work engagements.
