41 guests' feedbackWhat a wonderful place. Will definitely visit there again.
Beautiful bush house in the forest. Quiet and peaceful, we really enjoyed it. Everything that would be needed is in the bush house. We had a great time and will definitely stay there again.
Accommodation was very good.
Real Bushveld experience, the tranquility you want, we enjoyed it, head is just clear!
We had a nice stay. It was peaceful, away from the city traffic.
Thank you for a very nice visit in the forest! We rested well in the silence, the children played well in the sand and field, and really enjoyed the cycling. We could have a good time by the fire in the evenings too. Thank you for your extra effort to make our time with you special. The accommodation was very neat and comfortable. We will be happy to visit you again!
What a wonderful amazing amazing Easter weekend. Mandie and Cobus are wonderful friendly hosts. There is a variety of birds that can be seen. The mouse dogs were very cool, even their babies. There are even goats and the little sleeping lambs were so precious. We had a nice walk around the farm. Thank you very much for the wonderful opportunity to be able to visit there. Will come back there again.
Our expectations were exceeded with Loodswaai.
The weekend was lovely and peaceful - away from other people and hustle and bustle; the woodland was peaceful; we heard lions roaring from a nearby game farm one morning, as well as foxes in the evening. The hostess is very friendly and helpful.
What a nice break from the city noise. The forest houses were nice and clean and had everything you would need to make good food. Mandie was very friendly and made us feel welcome. Just a pity that the sheep don't come to visit, my grandchild would have enjoyed it. The location is central and you can easily visit some nice places. Thanks for the nice stay.
The cottage was neat and well equipped! We had a great time relaxing in nature.
Peaceful solo accommodation with all basic necessities.
A pleasant Friday afternoon drive up to Bela Bela, Loodswaai Boshuisie was easy to find, and Mandi opened the electronic gates to the security estate on arrival. Mandi was very helpful and a hospitable host. The boshuisie, of a style I have come to know as a Haartbeeshuis (rectangular, with a thatched roof), was spacious and well-appointed with everything needed to enjoy a weekend away in the bosveld. We had electricity, gas, water, and a lovely hot gas-fired shower. A heater was on hand for the cold winter nights, as well as some warm extra blankets. I enjoyed the outside fire pit, the small pool, which was a delight for the goat herd each day, and the bird bath where I counted 12 birds at one time, enjoying the refreshing water. The goats love this bird bath as well, especially the kids. I enjoyed the walks on the farm and seeing a furtive grey duiker, and the neighbors' pigs and chickens. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon at La Bri - Craft Brewery (close by, up the R908) (This is a hidden gem - open Friday to Sunday or by appointment), where Andries makes very sessionable English Blonds, Premium Caramel Munich Lagers and English IPAs, whilst Suezette bakes high-quality Pizzas in a wonderful stone pizza oven. I played a 2-hour unplugged acoustic set of Irish, rock, and country music as a warm-up for the Ireland - Springboks game, which I was later able to stream on my remote WiFi at Loodswaai Boshuisie.
The fresh air and tranquility made us feel relaxed.
Everything we needed was there. The place was clean and tidy. Washing up in the kitchen is just a tiny single sink. Large fridge, microwave oven and two plate stove with a single plate gas stove for times when the power is off. Slept very comfortably. Another bedside table or table for the single beds would be convenient. Unfortunately, the bathroom is only accessible from the bedroom, which means that persons sleeping in the living area on the single beds have to go through the bedroom if they want to use the bathroom. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful with the most beautiful tambot trees. Unfortunately the squirrel that entertained other guests was away for the weekend and we didn't see him. We did see many birds, the sheep and also forest goats.
Private own house, tidy and people are very friendly and helpful.
Nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ideal if you just want to rest and get away from everything.
We were looking for an affordable place to get away, but not too far from home. We had a great time and could just relax with our boys again. The boys also felt safe to just be kids, explore and ride bikes. Due to a long weekend of traffic we drove much longer than expected and Mandie was very helpful and accommodating about our late arrival. The ice upon our arrival was a lovely surprise as everything in town was already closed. Unfortunately, it was also the weekend when many large parts of the area burned down. Mandie kept us up to date as they braved the fires with others. We never felt unsafe with the disaster that hit the area. We'll see you again soon!
Exactly what we were looking for. A quiet, peaceful week away from the city noise.
Mandi and Cobus make you feel welcome very quickly. Very nice house, we hope to see you again soon.
Great for bird watchers. 28 species identified just like that from the stoep.
It was great, we really rested and had a good time together. It is definitely a place to switch off and rest. Thanks to Cobus and Mandie for your hospitality. We will definitely visit you again.
Quiet under the stars and the fire. Really nice quality time with the family. The service is great and Mandie goes out of her way to make your visit special!
If your life is too busy this is the place to go. Nothing around you, just forest and peace. Mandie was very helpful and very friendly. We will definitely go back again.
Loodswaai Boshuise was so peaceful and nice, close to the city, but deep in the forest. Enjoyed terribly.
The place is only 170 km from Johannesburg. The Boshuisie is located about 800 m north of the R516, so it's only a short drive on the dirt road to get there. The cottage has a porch on the south and north sides. The noise of the traffic is muffled if you sit on the porch on the north side. We received a lovely welcome and great service from the host and hostess. The house is surrounded by trees and birds chirping and flying around. The red-billed and yellow-billed hornbills bounce around the cottage. We also spotted a bunny, kid and squirrels. The house was clean, tidy and comfortably furnished. The dirt road is in good condition and we drove around comfortably in our sedan vehicle. There are many roadside stalls on the R516 where we could enjoy a meal. Mabalingwe Nature Reserve is just 5 km west on the R516, but apparently does not allow day visitors during school holidays because it is full. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Boshuisie.
Mandie was our hostess. She was very friendly and helpful. The forest house is neat and very functional. The tranquility was striking.
The owners are very friendly, enjoyed the sheep that came to say hello, would have liked to see goats, had a great rest.
Loodswaai Boshuisie is the perfect getaway for a couple who are looking for peace and quiet to reconnect and get away from all the stress that work and city living brings. The house is immaculate and well equipped with everything needed for a bush weekend. The daily visit from the sheep was a highlight, especially watching the playful lambs. Mandi is a wonderful hostess and made us feel very welcome. The addition of the "cool-off dam" made our stay even better. Just being in the bush and hearing nothing but nature is food for the soul.
Beautiful house in nature. Friendly reception and the cottage has everything you need. You can switch off and listen to the sounds of nature while you relax around your campfire. I will definitely visit the Loodswaai Boshuisie again!
In the woods, quiet and peaceful. Away from the city noise.
We were looking for a small place that didn't cost an arm and a leg and came across the Forest Houses. It was one of our best weekends away in a long time. And we look forward to coming back often as our weekend getaway.
The host was friendly and we even fed the lambs their bottles. It’s not luxury accommodation but you have everything you need to be comfortable. No television, just some quiet time away from the city!
Beautiful, clean, tidy place on a beautiful farm. Ideal for a quiet break from lights, the city's noise and everything. We saw little divers, goats and even rabbits. The sheep were tame enough to peek in too. The chalet has everything you need, was very clean, tidy and comfortable. Our host and hostess, Mandi and Cobus, made sure everything was nice and clean (both came to introduce themselves to us) and Cobus even lent us his gas braai during the heavy rain (many thanks for that). Every day Mandi asked if we were ok and needed anything. Would definitely recommend Loodswaai (and thanks Mandi, don't put a television in - it's "bushland tv" so paired with the forest sounds is good for the soul). The tranquility is definitely what we needed. Will definitely see you again. Thank you very much for everything.
This was a last minute booking for 2 nights, Mandie, our host was super friendly and helpful. Place was really clean and felt like home as it had everything required. Surrounded by green, with some visits from goats, rabbits and a dear. Definitely would like to go again. :).
Will definitely want to visit again. Wonderful owners. Thank you guys!
The owner is so friendly and welcoming. We checked in late because of traffic and was there to welcome us at night. The place is nice and quiet, refreshing and the accommodation is spacious and beautiful. On top of that, on the check out day, the owner blessed us with freshly baked biscuits. I will recommend Loodswaai accommodation to friends and will definitely visit again, just to run away from the city noise. As a family, we enjoyed the stay in the bushes.
Very private and extremely well appointed. Ideal for friends or a family who want to enjoy the Bosveld in isolation. Our expectations were exceeded!
Stress reliever! Have fun. Got time to chat.
The unit is spacious, very neat and clean, nothing is missing, everything has been thought of. The host lady is very friendly, considerate and helpful. Enjoy the few days there.
If there could be a small pool for the children that would be great!
