Wow! From the moment we drove in, we already knew we were going to have a great stay and were already regretting it was only for one night. Upon our arrival we were welcomed with such kindness that it felt like arriving at friends. The unit was far more than we expected in terms of its outlook and interior for sure just as beautiful as the photos show. Everything was very clean and tidy and the kitchen has everything you need. We slept wonderfully warm and it was a great treat to wake up with the birds and then the beautiful view. This is truly a very special place where you feel as if you are in the silence of the forest. We want to go again for longer. Here you can rest.
Unfortunately it was only one night in this beautiful paradise. We want to come back again, but then for 3-4 days to totally recharge.

We had a lovely stay. You are close to all the attractions like Birds of Eden, monkeys, Wolf Sanctuary and a must-see Knysna Elephant Park. The place is surrounded by trees and beautiful birds. The only thing is don't pack heavy bags as it is a little walk to the car from the chalet we stayed in. Other than that, it was amazing.
Angie is a fantastic hostess, she went out of her way to make our stay enjoyable. Worked very well with our 2 yorkies too.
Really lovely venue, calm and peaceful. Ray & Angie were most helpful and accommodating. I would have given 5 stars had it not been for the "miggies" (midgets) which became pesky. It is just seasonal, I believe, and after the morning rain they were less. The apartment we stayed in (Sunbird) is comfortable and a home away from home - well equipped. Glorious nature to enjoy and very convenient to many other amenities and activities whilst still giving one the sense of being away from the madding crowd. Thanks so much!

The little man could walk around between the gardens, and the dogs couldn't get snooped out.
I would highly recommend Masescha to anyone, even with a large or small family. The owners were so welcoming and caring, and also checked up on us after we left on the road back to Gqeberha. Their thoughtfulness, coffee, tea, sugar, and cookies on arrival in each place was appreciated. Thanks and we can't wait for our next visit in summer.
Angie and her husband are always available to assist where needed. They had an electricity outage but were able to open one of the establishments that have solar for us to get a warm shower before our long drive back to Cape Town. I just love nature and Masecha brings it closer.
We stayed in Birdsong and when we walked in we sighed a relief, comfortable and cosy. A big fireplace which we loved using for those cold nights. Very spacious, we were a party of 6 adults and a child. Lovely outside veranda where you could soak up the winter sun, and there is a braai area close to the kitchen. The washing machine was a surprise, so we were glad we could go home with less washing. Slept like a log the bed was very comfortable. The shower was great just like home. Perfect position, close to Plett and Knysna. Our host Ray was friendly and welcoming and Angie's brownies are to die for.

Greeted by friendly hosts who take pride in their cottages. The bed was very comfortable and our unit (Gazania) had all the required amenities, including a gas stove (considering the current loadshedding). DStv and Wi-Fi for when I just needed to veg in bed and a beautiful scenic surrounding forest for a morning stroll.
Masescha is nicely centrally located with easy access to all the interesting places located between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay.

Great location. Peaceful and tranquil. The only downside was that when there was loadshedding there was no water. We had loadshedding every morning and evening and could therefore not shower, or use water for any purpose. The Wi-Fi was also down during loadshedding. It would be great to have Wi-Fi on a battery backup.

It's a very secured area and a big enough cottage with everything needed in winter or summer.

What can I say, it's our third time at Masescha! Every time we stay at The Haven, the cozy little house in the forest! We just realized again how beautiful the forests of Masescha are, so quiet and peaceful! Ray and Angie were the perfect guests and the brownies we got were so delicious! If you are a nature lover, this is the place for you. Early in the morning the baboons scream in the gorge. We even found a scorpion in the room. Not the dangerous one! Very peaceful and beautiful, clean and tidy. We had very little or no hot water. Despite that, I would stay here again anytime for a night or 3. Definitely recommended if you are looking for peace and quiet.

Warm welcome by the owner. The most delicious brownies as a welcome in our little house. The house itself was hot, but we had a great time hanging out in the coolness on the porch, the background music was bird sounds. Beautiful!

Neat accommodation, friendly reception, good facilities, but it's a long way from Plettenberg Bay - we booked because it was "just a few km from Plettenberg Bay". About 20 km from Knysna - too far to go back to Plettenberg Bay in the evening or the next day. It was a bit disappointing.

The flatlet that we stayed in was well furnished, the beds/bedding were excellent and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bathroom was spacious and the shower great. It was too cold to use the pool, but I can imagine that to be very nice in summer. Definitely value for money and not far.

The house was well equipped, very comfortable and clean. The host and wife spoiled us with delicious home baked goods, brownies, cheesecake and sponge cake over the festive season. The peaceful atmosphere on the property was lovely. There is plenty of room for walking and enjoying the beautiful forest and ponds, as well as for bird watchers it is a loop court. The beaches are a short drive, but directly next to the accommodation there is a cute butcher shop and shop with good meat and basic food and necessities. The Sasol garage is also only 2 km away so you don't have to drive into town for basic necessities. The Saturday Market is also a hit and right on your doorstep.

What a beautiful place and if peace and quiet is what you seek, then this is absolutely the spot to stay! We stayed in the Valley View room as the website said this is the most private room but after walking around the entire estate I don't think you would encounter any noise or disturbance staying in any of the rooms. A sparkling pool was a welcome sight after coming from a very dry Cape Town, our room was well equipped and super clean and our hosts are just the nicest people you will ever meet!

We were kindly welcomed by Ray and Angie. We stayed in the Sunbird Cottage where they put in an extra single bed for our 4 year old boy. The cottage is very comfortably furnished. The pool was lovely to cool off in.
We were met by the very amiable owner who showed us around and also gave us useful information on local attractions. This was a perfect little overnight stay for us in haven cottage which is nestled among the trees on a large green and leafy estate. Walking out onto the decking and balcony upstairs you feel like you're in a tree house. The children were happy to sleep in the little loft upstairs which usually sleeps 2, but an extra mattress was provided for our 3rd child for which there was ample space. We spent a couple hours up at the gorgeous pool area and the children enjoyed saving little frogs. The delicious chocolate brownies in the fridge were a bonus!

Due to delays, we arrived late, but nevertheless received a warm and friendly reception. The environment is exquisitely beautiful and the venue is extremely well equipped. All is in pristine condition and clean. We would love to return for a longer break.

It was very difficult for me to drive in the evening so I only slept there one night. It was 10 km away from my family and the children enjoyed spending time more at the Beacon Island hotel. The one night I did sleep there was very nice. Thank you very much.

We stayed here for 4 nights, and it was worth it. Ray and his wife are very friendly, and the breakfast they gave us on the Friday was excellent. It feels like you are in the woods of Knysna, but still not too far for doing activities in Plett and Knysna. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely make use of them if we are again in the area for a holiday.

The accommodation was completely adequate. Everything one needs is available. Friendly, helpful owner. For safety purposes, the lights outside the windows stay on all night and it's quite disturbing. Bed and mattress are great. Gardens may need some attention, but it's so beautiful there, they're probably going for a more rustic feel. Such quiet and nice birdsong.

It was so nice to stay there it was very quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the Lavender room, it's small but neat and just perfect for 2 people. The people received us so kindly. The cleaning services were also great and every day our place was tidy when we came back from the sea. It's nice and close to Plett and Knysna. Johan and I will definitely go again.
Ray and Angie made us feel very welcome. We really enjoyed our stay, it was very neat and comfortable. Angie's homemade chocolate brownies were so delicious that we simply ordered more to take with us when our stay was over. Ray goes out of his way to make your stay as pleasant as possible and gives personal attention to everything. The environment is very quiet and safe. We stayed in the "Haven Cottage", it is the sweetest place and the kids absolutely loved the cottage with its loft (they slept in the loft). We as a family can recommend Masescha, it was very comfortable and good value for money.

We really enjoyed the stay! The lack of a hanging cupboard in the room took some getting used to, but the accommodation was otherwise perfect and Management was very helpful with any queries/needs. We stayd 4 September nights in 2016. Didn't really know what to expect (for the price we didn't expect much). What a wonderful surprise. We stayed in the Gazania Garden Room and it was really nice. Great quality bed and everything you need. We didn't have a problem returning "home" after a fun-filled day. Jasper waited, tail wagging and Ray who is bale to tell you exaclty how long it takes to drive somewhere, and what is worth it and what not. We really enjoyed our stay and can recommend this to anyone who asks.
The owners are friendly and helpful. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. What we didn't like was the entrance that's steep and muddy when it rains. But it's part of the holiday experience.

Besides the dark gravel road without lighting to the entrance, we were pleasantly surprised by how pleasant this place was. We made a booking here because it is only a few kilometres from the Knysna Elephant Park were we went the next morning. We wish we could have stayed longer, but our time was limited. Overall we were impressed with the convenient room and how pleasant the manager was. Remember to ask for your 10% off coupon if you plan on going to the Elephant Park.

I would recommend it. All that bothered me was that the ceiling of our house was so low that my husband could not walk upright in the house. My 71 year old father had to sleep on a sofa bed which was uncomfortable for him.
We did not expect this and were a little disappointed. We will spend the night again in Masescha, but definitely take a bigger place. The service was excellent. It was good to some extent, only the fact that the place is very small, we will not use it again, but instead take a bigger place. It's really just a room and I have to say the pictures are misleading. If I should have seen the whole place in a photo I certainly wouldn't have taken Lavender, at least too small, but with the service of Ron I can't complain. Outstanding.

My wife and I spent a the weekend at Masescha. Situated on the doorstep of the farmers market was an added extra bonus. Our only problem during the stay was that there was too much to see and do and too little time in one weekend to do everything. So we will definitely be coming back to catch up with what we missed out on during this trip. Our host Angie was fantastic and very informative of what the area has to offer.

Was a nice place to stay if you like the nature and silence! Sadly enough it was too humid this time of year, but when you travel with a large group this place is excellent.
Units are delightfully private, but parking is definitely an issue. Especially if it is a larger vehicle and it sparks discord between other guests. Bathroom also has no mirror in it and one has to shave in the kitchen. There are an awful lot of attractions!
A comfortable room with a well equipped kitchen. I traveled alone as a woman, yet felt safe far away from the main house. The surroundings are beautiful and the Saturday Harkerville Market is at the entrance of the road to Masescha.

We needed a one night stay near Plettenberg Bay. We braaied that night, but there were no braai forks or tools. We felt the cottage could do with a revamp - the shower and pots and pans could also do with a good clean. We have had more modern accommodation for less money along the garden route. However, we enjoyed our short stay and will use the facility again, as the hosts were very friendly and made us feel very welcome.
