10 guests' feedbackWe all had a lovely 'Women's Day' weekend at Middelstevlei Guest House. Antoinette was a fabulous host and spoilt us with delicious homemade bread and jam on arrival. After all the rain, the Karoo is very green and it was lovely spending time at the river on the farm. The big indoor fireplace was a bonus as it was a rather chilly weekend!
What is more delicious than a tin cup of coffee with a freshly baked farm bun, more peaceful than the crackling of a fire under the clear sky and more beautiful than the Karoo's first morning greeting in shades of light pink and giggle yellow! A piece of our hearts was left behind in the Moordenaars Karoo, but we will definitely be back to collect it.
I would recommend a break at Middelstevlei to anyone. It's secluded enough for you to relax (no signal, no power plugs etc.), but equipped enough to stay comfortably. There are solar lights that work atlyd and hot water and a fridge (that works with gas). The facilities are also clean and the kitchen, braai and living areas are well equipped with everything you need. Would go again anytime. Although the dirt road is suitable for low cars, I would advise adding about 20 minutes to your driving time. There are places here and there where you have to slow down a bit. If you have angry dogs, please leave them at home. There are sheep/lambs near the house and the farmer's dogs also like to come and say hello. Our dogs really enjoyed the socialization.
It was the best time of our lives. Peaceful, quiet, away from the noise of the city. In the morning, the beautiful song of the birds wakes you up with the fresh air of the Karoo. Will return anytime ️.
From our arrival to the end of our stay was wonderful. The owners make an incredible effort and the hospitality is of the best quality. The quality of the bedding is heavenly.
The place is a bit far from the Town and it needs someone who is prepared to log off and be secluded. It's ideal from everything and everyone and it's a needed seclusion once in a while.
Nice stay but the road is very rough. A bakkie or 4x4 is necessary.
Step back in time. This was just what the soul needed. From the moment your phone no longer has reception, you can start recharging. The house was prepared with just what a guest needs: warm bread on the table, and toys for the children, which gives you the chance to spend just 5 min. to relax before you start exploring. The environment is breathtaking, and please. take the time to walk around a bit. There are so many little hidden gems everywhere.
Restful. Quiet. No signal. Nice house, braai area and swimming place. We had a really nice stay. Love the old house and the nice barbecue, big fireplace (only for winter of course). The swimming place is also nice for those hot days. The braai area is nicely covered for the windy days and we liked the atmosphere the area creates. We made big fires. The dirt road was not bad at all, but as they say make sure you want to drive your car/bakkie that far on a dirt road. For us it was not a problem but rather made us feel like we were now on our way to the farm. We will definitely go there again. This time we might go camping at the gorge.
Our stay at Middelstevlei was amazing. We had the privilege of enjoying three heavenly nights in the guesthouse with close friends. The guesthouse easily accommodated 7 adults and the house was perfectly clean and well-equipped. The outdoor braai area was one of our favourite areas where we enjoyed late-night chats around a fire under the beautiful, starry Karoo sky with a clear view of the constellations without any pollution from city lights. We also drove to a beautiful, scenic camp area close to the guesthouse (a few of us walked there) where we enjoyed the stunning view and braai facilities (toilet facilities available too). Antoinette and her family are warm, friendly, welcoming people. We loved talking to them when they came to introduce themselves one morning. We can highly recommend Middelstevlei for taking a break from the busy lifestyle that most of us have become so accustomed to. Middelstevlei will definitely see us again in future!
