The lodge offers a choice of 5 units to choose from. Each unit/house has a fully equipped kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge, toaster, kettle, crockery, cutlery, bedding, towels and is serviced daily. Braai facilities are provided and firewood is available for sale.
Guests can expect a variety of flora and fauna like otter, baboon, reedbuck, and eland, along with a wide variety of birds such as black eagle, bearded vulture, and fish eagle. There’s history to be found in nearby bushman paintings, and plenty of natural beauty to be discovered with several waterfalls, crystal clear 'berg rivers, pools, and dams in the area.
The lodge is perfectly situated for a range of outdoor activities. Spend your days hiking the Drakensberg, trout fishing, at an additional fee, swimming in crystal clear mountain pools, mountain biking, and bird watching. All of these activities can be undertaken from the property.

We had a great stay in Mkomazana Mountain Cottages. It was off season and we practically had the place to ourselves. Enjoyed watching the Olympics in Mike's Barn while the fire crackled next to us. Everyone always talks about the scones in the morning and yes, it is absolute wow to consume those warm scones in the morning.
Very nice! Only the bathroom door in the stone house where we stayed is a challenge. Furthermore, our stay was wonderful!

Out dated décor, no Wi-Fi / TV, kitchen lacks storage space, microwave not in a safe place to cook with, poor electrical installation. Magazines in the room out of date. Poor communal area, not kept very clean as well. Better value in other places to stay in the area.
Mkomazana Cottages are an amazing place, ideally situated, and extremely well run. I would happily recommend them to anyone who loves peace and quiet, and beautiful nature.
Betty and her husband are particularly friendly and helpful. Units are well equipped. Recreational facilities and outdoor activities are sufficient.
The location was excellent as it was our intention to drive up the Sani Pass. My only negative would be the lack of connectivity at the Lodge. In today's world it is essential to be connected, be that for work or pleasure.
Comfortable and neat accommodation. Great idea of supplying fresh scones daily to guests. Great location to access beautiful places in the area. Trip up Sani Pass once again surpassed all our expectations.
Stone Cottage's location is private and the open porch offers enough seating for lovely visits. In the evening, the fireplace cozily warmed the spacious living room. The kitchen - also with a table and chairs in it - is well equipped. The hot scones and wood delivered was a pleasant bonus. We experienced Sani top on a sunny day and also had a nice walk around the Mkomazana site. Head to Mkomazana Mountain Cottages if you want to rest!
Spacious and tastefully furnished cottage with a warm fire place that keeps the cold out. Tranquil farm environment with a walkway in the hills. Delicious, fresh and warm baked scones are delivered every morning. Owner and his wife are very friendly and great company. Was a really tranquil and quiet holiday.
If you are looking for peace in a quiet area with a beautiful view, lots of bird life, and a big variety of fauna, this is a good choice. Will come again.
A beautiful setting, comfortable accommodation, friendly people. Well worth the visit - and this was our fourth stay. We are disappointed, though, that a minimum of two nights' accommodation is required. This makes it difficult if you want a weekend break (and can only leave on Saturday morning), and, for us, financially demanding (the cottage we stayed in sleeps 6, which works out quite reasonable, but there's only 4 of us - and two nights pushes us over what we can really afford).
My wife and I stayed here for one night with our adult son and daughter with her husband. We just wish we could have stayed here longer. A fine cottage in a great location, surrounded by stunning scenery. The hosts were friendly and the freshly baked scones delivered to our door in the morning were delicious. If only we knew of the pub the evening before we would have enjoyed a nightcap before retiring for the night.
Picturesque surroundings that we could fully enjoy without cell phones and TVs. Lovely log fire for the rainy weather and tasty scones in the mornings to munch on. Thank you for the nice stay!
This is where your soul and body come together. Photographer's dream! Baboons were a real problem and were only warned after the first altercation that the windows and doors had to be closed. I would like to see decent bars put on the window so that the fresh mountain air and sounds can be enjoyed. The freshly baked scones every day are a real bonus.
We enjoyed the silence. Away from everything. We also went up the Sani Pass which is right there. The morning butter sandwiches were very special and delicious. Betty and her husband are very nice people who make you feel so at home. The warm blankets were of course a bonus.

We had a great holiday! Loved the setting and large, openness of the grounds, which the kids enjoyed running around.
This location is ideal for those travelling up, or down, the Sani Pass. Very clean, comfortable and well equipped with the added extra of hot scones delivered to your kitchen every morning! We had to change our booking by 2 days and we not only got the new date but were up-graded by very friendly people!
Our family of 6 loved the beautiful Cottage and will definitely want to return every year for the pampering in the mountains. The nature is beautiful and our mountain bikes explored the Sani Pass every day
A very peaceful and scenic location with great hospitality; we would not hesitate to visit again.
We were very warmly received by the owners and surprised with delicious hot butter sandwiches the next morning! The wood from the fireplace was a bit wet, but we had dry wood in the car and could enjoy a lovely evening in front of the fireplace!
The house was very nice and clean, but the bathrooms were not very good, short repairs and a nice shower would be welcome. It is a nice spacious house with a fireplace. The house has a lot of history and character.

Bliss without a TV.
We really loved our stay and would definitely recommend it to friends. Our stay was a bit short (only a weekend). We would have liked to go up Sani but heavy rain prevented this.
Peace and tranquility Mkomazana cottages a place to find that. Fireplace and the scenery in the mornings are superb.

It was great to arrive so quickly at our overnight destination from Sanipas. It's literally the 1st overnight option on the descent. Coot cottage is beautifully situated and very comfortably furnished with the most beautiful view over the dam right opposite the house. The log fire was wonderful on a very cold evening that dropped below freezing. Unfortunately, the 1 bathroom's hot water supply was frozen the next morning, but we could use the other bathroom for a shower. By 8 am we were treated to delicious hot scones! It was a huge treat. We would love to stay there again in the future.
Did a 4hr hike up to the salt and pepper shakers and relaxed at the trout dam. Amazing scenery and bird life.. 3 new birds spotted! The fireplace was much appreciated in the evenings - chilly this time of year but the days were pleasantly warm. Fresh scones in the morning were lovely. Thanks Betty and Mike!
My fiance and I had a wonderful stay in the Stone cottage. It was very nicely appointed. Travelground was a pleasure to deal with, from finding my accommodation to being booked in about 2 hours, that included me taking my time to decide.
Betty our host made us feel very welcome.the warm scones in the morning was delicious.Great location if you want to travel Sani Pass.
